Multiverse's Holy Right

Chapter 35: [35] The Witch's Clairvoyance and Foresight

Leaning back in his chair, Roy absently rubbed the weathered ring between his fingers, lost in thought.

Knock, knock, knock—

A rhythmic tapping sounded at his door. Without turning, Roy called out, "...Enter, Knight Erica!"

Even without looking, Roy knew it was Erica who had entered. His bedroom was a place only Erica would dare to visit; the others on the yacht wouldn't disturb his rest.

A faint scent filled the vast, luxurious bedroom as the door opened quietly. Roy's keen nose recognized it immediately—the fragrance of Erica's body, the familiar aroma of her usual shower gel.

Only then did Roy turn around to look. Standing at the doorway was Erica, still young but already possessing an enviable figure, her posture straight and poised.

Her usual red gown was damaged, so she had changed into casual clothes for once. Her long golden hair, too delicate to dry completely, still carried the damp warmth of her bath, while her dewy skin glowed with a rosy flush from the steam.

"Your Majesty, you may go freshen up now. Or... if you require my service."

The dazed girl had completely regained her senses. Her voice was clear and lively, tinged with a faintly seductive playfulness, and her beautiful eyes held a captivating charm that belied her age.

"No, there's no rush. The salty scent of the sea is unpleasant, but not unbearable for me."

Roy boldly let his gaze linger on the girl's slender and smooth legs beneath her long skirt. Erica had finally removed her white woolen stockings, revealing skin as smooth as fine jade. The faint blue veins were even visible on the back of her feet, clad in red high heels.

With a change in status, even those who were once insecure could grow confident—let alone Roy, who had never been insecure in the first place.

At that moment, Erica noticed the ring in Roy's hand. After sensing it briefly, she raised an eyebrow and said, "...King, the object in your hand carries a very subtle magical fluctuation. Judging by its appearance, is it a divine artifact?"

"Yes, it's a divine artifact I found in the ruins of Solomon's Temple—assuming that place truly was Solomon's Temple."

Roy nodded in response.

"The Temple of Solomon? The ruins of the First Temple discovered by archaeologists in the heart of ancient Jerusalem that were recently reported in the news? That caused quite a stir. Though King Solomon is hailed as a symbol of 'wisdom,' there are too few records proving his existence. This world-renowned third king of ancient Israel accomplished such great feats, yet the unearthed artifacts have cast doubt on whether he ever truly existed."

As a leading figure in the magical world, Erica was deeply fascinated by ancient legends, history, and even relics and antiques. Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she spoke.

"I was present at that archaeological excavation. Finding it interesting, I used my authority to disrupt the site and uncovered this ring."

Hearing Roy's indifferent tone, Erica couldn't help but smile wryly. The Campione truly acted as they pleased—casually destroying the ruins tied to the legend of Solomon like that.

"Your earliest recorded sighting was also in ancient Jerusalem. At the time, a mage from the Greenwich Assembly was following the archaeological team and thus discovered traces of the King. Yet, your past remains shrouded in mystery. Many magical associations have investigated you but found nothing useful."

Erica spoke candidly, unafraid to share such matters with Roy. Since the King had placed his trust in her, she felt obligated to reciprocate. Moreover, her time with Roy had convinced her that, given his wisdom, he had likely long known about these investigations.

"Does the Bronze Black Cross count among those magical associations that investigated me?"

"Yes, the Bronze Black Cross was among them. However, the Greenwich Assembly conducted the most rigorous investigation. Those sages perform exhaustive research on every living Demon King."

Erica answered honestly.

"Let them investigate then. Even if they employ hime-miko and witches for clairvoyance, they won't uncover any information about me."

Seeing Roy's absolute certainty, Erica grew even more curious about his past. Yet, as a subordinate, she knew better than to pry—no matter how intrigued she was, she had no intention of digging further.

Roy hailed from another world, so no investigation in this one could possibly trace his history.

"Clairvoyance, the ability of hime-miko and witches, is a fascinating power. They receive revelations and glimpse scenes of the past and future. Do you know where these revelations come from?"

Roy posed the question like a teacher testing a student.

Erica shook her head. "...My ancestor was a Demon King like you. Though I carry the blood of witches in my veins, it's too diluted to know the secrets of witches."

"It's fine if you don't know. Just listen. This world is roughly divided into three layers: the Material World we inhabit now, the Boundary of Life and Immortality that magicians call the Netherworld, and beyond that lies the final world—the Realm of Immortality where the gods reside."

Under the guidance of Aiwass and through his studies from books, Roy acquired extensive knowledge. He also saw through the true nature of the world of the Campione—a derivative of the Kabbalistic Four Worlds Theory, flawed yet logically self-consistent.

The so-called Realm of Immortality, where deities resided, was, in Roy's view, the 'Throne' of this world. It recorded various mythological information about the gods, which in turn changed based on the beliefs of humans in the material world.

If someone truly broke through the Netherworld and reached the Realm of Immortality, they wouldn't encounter any living deities. Instead, they would find only incomprehensible information—much like the concept of Heroic Spirits.

"...The Netherworld has a miraculous function. Like the Akashic Records, it documents all events that have occurred in the material world. The Clairvoyance ability of witches and hime-miko allows them to perceive the information recorded in the Netherworld, thus enabling them to reconstruct the past. As for future information, it is the result of hime-miko and witches organizing and compiling known data to predict the most probable events to come."

"...In essence, this is a simple form of Laplace's Demon—using knowledge of all past events and deductions to foresee the future, which is what is called Clairvoyance."

Roy wagged his finger leisurely. Sometimes, the more one learns, the more ignorant they feel. But at other times, when one's knowledge is vast enough, they realize that things are simply this straightforward.

"So this is the principle behind the witches' secret arts. Your wisdom is truly astounding, my King!"

Erica exclaimed in admiration, her tone filled with reverence and delight.

For magicians, mastering magic is not the ultimate goal—knowledge is what they truly seek.

"The Vatican may lack many things, but over two thousand years, it has accumulated countless rare and ancient texts. Its library is a veritable treasure trove."

Roy chuckled before suddenly asking, "...Tell me, Erica! Where are the most exceptional miko and witches in this world?"

Erica paused for a moment, then answered without hesitation, "...If we're speaking of the most spiritually powerful witch in Europe, then the foremost would be the former chairwoman of the Greenwich Assembly, the daughter of the Duke Goddodin, Her Highness Princess Alice Louise, revered as the 'Sage Princess'!"
