Mummy Evolution

Chapter 124: Kneel and Recieve a Curse?

"Kneel!" the God ordered.

Sett felt a power press down on him. It was not an Axiom—not any power he knew. It felt more like the very reality itself pressing down on him. It compelled him to obey, to kneel and bow to this God.

If he obeyed, he would be given a curse and a blessing.

If he obeyed, he would be agreeing that he was someone inferior to the God.

That he was someone who the God could bless and curse whenever it felt like it.

Sett wanted to resist.

He wanted to stay unbowed.

He wanted to remain ramrod straight.

But who was he to defy a God?

He was a mere mortal.

All of his Axiom abilities became silent—as if they had been sealed. Immediately, he felt weakness run rampant through him.

Sett's legs buckled despite himself. He was a second away from kneeling. But his Limitless Magic were still working—he could still use his Tomb Slaves to buy himself a second or two.

With a swish, the Wooden Man walked out of a blue gateway and held Sett tightly, not letting him bow.

The Statue of God mocked him with a laugh. "How intriguing. I casted the Cursed Seal on you, but it seems even that is not enough to seal all your powers. You are an intriguing mortal. But in the end, this ability of yours is nothing but a cheap copy of Divine Arts."

The Statue clenched his hands.

Immediately, the Wooden Man crumbled into ash.

[Limitless Evolution Art has lost connection with the Tomb Slave Wooden Man]

[Divine Information Unlocked]

"Oh?" The Statue smiled eerily. "A screen of light that can reveal the secrets of the universe? Is this what makes you special?"

[Divine Interference has caused the system to fail in extracting Divine Information from the universe]

[Tzz…]

The system vanished.

Sett felt cold beads of sweat trickle down his ears.

"Now kneel."

Now, Sett had no other way. Even bringing out his other Tomb Slaves would just make them die one by one.

He could have done that to gain some time, but he had no choice.

Zainah and Zarah would leave his Inner Tomb any moment, and they would not be able to resist bowing. They will be forced to recieve this God's blessing and curse—the same curse that made the monkey die.

It was a heinous, deadly curse.

And Sett could not use the River of Reincarnation ability for another whole year.

If they fell in this sort of curse, this would be deadly.

No way out. No power to save himself.

Clock ticking.

"Kneel."

Sett laughed coldly. "Someone once told me that resisting the power of Gods was impossible for a mortal, that no mortal can remain unbowed in the face of Musson."

"That person was right. Kneel. Receive your blessings."

Sett grinned. Since he was not going to bow, might as well make it a bit badass.

"Not in a million years, you fucking God!"

Then, without any hesitation—he made Shining Gold appear out of his Inner Tomb. The moment he appeared, he created the blade of light and handed it over to Sett. The God did not move.

"What can you do?"

Sett turned the blade on himself.

With a single swipe, he cut both of his legs off.

Blood pooled under him as he fell onto the desert, bleeding.

But a grin stretched on his face.

He stared at Musson with a laugh.

"How can a person without legs kneel? Hhahaha! You can make my body kneel, but can you make my heart kneel?"

The God's reflection, for the first time, changed its expression.

"You Gods truly dissappoint me," Sett spat, bleeding but still royal. "You have always seemed so omnipotent to me, but look at you—I feel nothing but contempt."

The God was silent.

"You want to kill me, right, Musson?"

Sett's golden eyes burned. "Or maybe not. I don't know how Gods think, but one thing is certain, as long as I do not bow to you, you can neither curse me nor can you bless me."

A mortal's body truly cannot resist bowing to the God of Curses' reflection.

But what about a mortal who did not have a body that could bow?

What about that mortal's heart?

"I will not bow to you."

The God stared coldly at Sett. "If you don't bow, that's fine. Indeed, us Gods are not invincible. Nor are we all-capable. But one thing we are good at is patience. Those two dear women of yours should be ejected out of your pocket dimension soon enough."

Sett smiled. "Indeed. Are you going to make them bow?"

The God laughed.

Sett smiled again. "But did you know that someone has been looking at you since the past two minutes?"

The God's expression changed. It looked around alertly.

Nobody.

Nothing.

Sett smirked. "Good friend, if there is anyone who can save you here, it is me. The Door Spirit must have told you, now it is time you save me."

"You owe me one, Sett Ramses," a calm voice said from nowhere.

The God frowned.

A hand tore out of the dimension itself and touched Sett's back.

Then, Sett vanished along with the hand.

"Who are you?" the God asked, annoyed.

It could follow others with immense speed, but even it could not move through space and dimensions. After all, it was merely the reflection of a God, not truly the God itself.

The voice came back again.

"Me? I am the Pharaoh of Kemet. An old friend of the mortal you wanted to kill."

***

Three hours ago.

Egrith stood beneath the Cloud Door, looking at the ruckus that the people were making. His heart was anything but calm. He had never known that such a Door existed in this place, that such a thing could exist under the sun.

Faceless stood beside him, also looking up at the Cloud Door, still wearing the appearance of a gentle woman.
