Mummy Evolution

Chapter 131: The phenomenal event

In Ehyut, current time.

At the moment, the capital palace of Ehyut was surrounded by hundreds of faceless creatures.

The capital lay broken and tattered.

The palace ruined.

Burning.

A Tier 5 Tomb Raider stumbled out of a broken building, muscles rippling across his entire body. His body, more durable than all natural metals in the entire world, rippled with power.

He tilted his head, smiled and walked forward.

As he walked, his face began transforming—it soon became completely featureless.

Thousands upon thousands of similarly strong beings surrounded the capital.

In the throne room, a person gulped down a bottle of strong liquor. He had a book in his hand, seemingly deeply immersed in reading it. Meanwhile, three corpses laid scattered around him—having each been smashed to death in some bizzare way.

A young man trembled in front of him, kneeling.

The person did not seem to mind. He flipped to the next page and continued reading with a smile. "Do you know what makes a good story?" he asked.

The young man felt cold sweat bead down his cheeks. "Memorable characters?"

"Not really. What makes a good story is a good ending. After all, why am I reading if not to see how it ends?"

"Oh…"

"So, what I wish to do in life is to give everyone good endings."

The young man's heart flourished with hope. "My lord, does that mean you will let me live?"

He was no weakling—a Tier 5 Tomb Raider, Tier 3 Axiom Holder. He could split mountains. Part seas. But here, before the throne?

He was nothing.

Because this was Yuhuem.

The Pharaoh.

Lon Ronsales Yuhuem.

Unrivaled. Untouchable.

The man who ruled the Empire, even as it burned around him.

"Luckily for you," Yuhuem said, standing up, "I've decided to give you a good ending."

The youth kneeled in reverence.

Yuhuem walked forward.

The young man's body suddenly lost all signs of life, slumping onto the floor.

"Behold, the good ending. Death."

Yuhuem silently walked past the youth and reached a giant window that looked down on the capital. He looked out with a smile.

The wind buffeted his robes back, it made his silver eyes shine with love.

Ash spiraled into the sky.

Yuhuem opened his arms wide as if embracing the apocalypse.

Beautiful.

This chaos, this collapse—it thrilled him.

Then he saw them.

Thousands of Faceless, marching through the ruins. A plague of perfect imitators. His smile widened.

"Truly making themselves at home," he murmured. "How many Tier 5s are among them now? A hundred?"

He yawned. Sat on the ledge of the giant windowsill like a bored god watching ants fight.

The book's pages fluttered in the wind.

Ah…

He enjoyed the touch of air. The scent of burning buildings.

Life was so beautiful.

The world was so beautiful.

No point in moving. It was not yet the best moment. These extraterrestrials were far too powerful, if he killed one, another would pop up anyway.

Their boss is a bit too strong, Yuhuem thought. S-tier Tombs truly are too world-threatening.

S-tier Tombs can sometimes invade the world outside unlike other Tombs.

According to what Yuhuem had learned through books, these Faceless beings had first originated from an S-tier Tomb in the era of Ancient Kemet. These beings were capable of inheriting the entire body, behavioral patterns, and even Axioms of another person.

Even though they could only do that sort of 'possession' once in a lifetime, they were much scarier than normal Ghosts.

Not to mention, they had a leader who was truly a bit too strong.

Someone who was capable of rivalling a Tier 5 Axiom Holder.

The thought of their leader sent an involuntary shiver through Yuhuem's brows. A shiver of excitement. That creature—the boss—was a bit too weird.

Yuhuem bit his nails, thinking.

But then, his thoughts drifted.

'Hm, I wonder what is there to eat? I am a bit hungry—oh, someone found my location again.'

Gateways bloomed like black flowers around the room.

Yuhuem turned to look as gateways opened up all around the room. Dozens of Faceless stepped through, each more grotesque than the last.

All of them, without exception, were stronger than Tier 4.

Many of them had strong Axioms.

Some even had weird True Forms with weird abilities.

Yuhuem sighed.

"This time, we have come again but stronger!" the Faceless all spoke in unison. "The only person we fear in this world, Yuhuem. It is time we have our final vengeance against you!"

"Even third-rate villains from the third rate books I read have better lines than that," he muttered. "You guys are not even funny."

He waved his hand as if waving away a bunch of flies.

All the creatures fell to the floor, all signs of life leaving them.

So simple.

He sighed theatrically. "No matter how many you send, there is no use. I am too strong. TOO STRONG. Kek. Even if your boss came, in the end, it would just be more of a hassle than anything. Isn't he too afraid to show his face?"

At least, if I could kill your boss, I could have gotten that Life Vessel core of his. That would have made all this hassle a bit worth it.

He flipped to the next page and began reading the book again.

Another gateway began opening.

Yuhuem did not care and continued reading.

Nothing could rattle him.

Nothing could make him shocked.

Nothing—

Yuhuem abruptly stood up, the book in his hand turning to ash due to the sudden strength he released.

Another Faceless walked out of the Gateway, this one though, was not human.

This one was a T.Rex.

"Haha! Even you fear ultimate physical strength, Yuhuem!"

The Faceless T.Rex laughed.

Yet, Yuhuem did not even look towards the newly opened gateway. Nor did he look at the enemy—instead, he looked towards the far West.

His eyes widened in excitement.

The T.Rex roared. "Are you ignoring me?!"

Yuhuem turned around in annoyance and looked at it. "Just die already."

Once again, Yuhuem used his Axiom ability.

Axiom of Reincarnation—

Ability—

Death Share.

One of the most physically gifted creatures in the world. The T.Rex—immediately lost all signs of life and fell limply onto the floor.

Yuhuem's gaze turned back to look towards the West with excitement.

I feel it.

Someone had just used another True Form of the Axiom of Reincarnation.

Ah…

Yuhuem felt emotions rile up in him. He had roamed through hundreds of thousands of Tombs in search of another person with the same Axiom as himself.

But he had never, ever found someone.

One Axiom could only exist inside one person at a time, unless that person dies, no one else would gain the same Axiom. Yet, if one could find someone with the same Axiom as themselves inside a Tomb, they could kill that doppelganger to gain all the powers of the other one.

As any other Axiom Holder did, Yuhuem had also dreamed of it.

To become like the historical figure, the Blind Saint.

Yet, to think I would find my dear twin in the real world instead of inside a Tomb….

Yuhuem grinned widely.

Unlike other Axioms—the Axiom of Reincarnation was different. After all, when the user of the Axiom of Reincarnation dies, they can reincarnate In that period of time when they are 'dead', someone new might gain the same Axiom.

Then what would happen when the person who 'died' reincarnates?

Obviously, that would cause two people with the same Axiom to exist at once.

Yuhuem realized—that was exactly what happened.

He smiled even more broadly.

He could sense his Axiom's use all the way from here, so the opposition might have also sensed him.

Yuhuem's mind flickered with historical knowledge.

The person on the other end could only be one person, he realized. The hidden figure if history. The greatest of minds now forgotten by time. Son of the Blind Saint. The seventh Pharaoh of this Empire.

Someone in history who had the same Axiom as the current Pharaoh of Ehyut.

The past Pharaoh.

Sett Ramses.

Sett Ramses 7th. The Son of Neilara the Blind Saint. The hidden presence among history's greatest figures. Barely known now, but still a figure that should have shone brighter than all. The one mortal that was closest to achieving Godhood.

The only mortal that had summoned the tribulation for Godhood. The person history did not praise enough.

Many historians believed Neilara was a better ruler than her son. That she had far overshadowed him. But as a Pharaoh himself, Yuhuem thought otherwise.

Sett Ramses…

Lon Ranseles Yuhuem felt a shiver run through his spine.

A shiver of excitement.

This was life! This was happiness!

What a great enemy that awaited him.

This sensation—not even the Faceless Boss had given him this!

So you did revive yourself! So you did! Hahahaha!

Yuhuem's silver eyes flickered around the area.

How long had he been waiting for this sort of opportunity?

This was cause for celebration.

Yuhuem jumped out of the windowsill into the city long below.

As he floated, his body began shifting into an utterly void grey creature with no eyes.

It was time to clean up his Empire.

Yuhuem's lips stopped smiling for the first time.

Axiom of Reincarnation—

True Form:

Lifeless.

Life is beautiful, but death is better.
