Mushoku Tensei: Reincarnated As a Migurd

Chapter 7: Voiceless Incantations

I opened the book on beginner Water spell page, held out my hand and began to chanting.

- Let the great protection of water be on the place thou seekest. I call a refreshing burbling stream here and now. Water Ball.

A water ball formed before my palm.

- Incredible.

I said in amazement inspecting this incredible art.

It materialized in front of me from thin air, and now it's levitating, just like that.

A second thing is that I don't passsed out, like in the first time. But I don't know, is this because my mana pool growed from last time or because I used the full incantaion.

I have to find the way to exhaust my mana pool in my home, before I go to sleep.

It's pretty hard in one room home.

I don't want to tell them about my magic training yet, I know they said they will support my decisions, but I don't know how to break the ice.

I don't feel slightest fatigue so I will try to to cast another spell, with hope that I will not pass out. In worst case scenario, somone will find me here after some time or wake up and have trouble in home.

I stretch out my hand and looked to the book.

- Ah, it's not that page.

But when I was about to pull my hand back, I felt crawly feeling at my fingers and when I looked at them, I saw already materialised water ball.

- What? I didn't said the incantation yet, how is that possible?

I lose the control over the spell and Waterball fell on the sand.

- Is there something about magic without incantation in the book?

I readed the whole book and didn't find any informations about that. The mage didn't said a word about non-chant magic.

Hitogami didn't mention about that either, but the book is clearly informing that there are only two types of magic casting, through the incantation or magic circle, without any exceptions.

Now, I'm really tired, but I think I will make it to home. It's almost night, I should go back home.

When I was wandering through the village, I was thinking about what Hitogami said about the mana pool grow.

It seems that the final part of his advice became true. I was able to cast 2 spells in a row, without passing out. But why he didn't mention about magic without incantations? Could it be he didn't knew about this? I still have to little informations to theorize about it.

- I'm back!

I said as I'm entering my hause.

- Welcome back, Rokvel! We are about to eat dinner, so sit to the table.

- Okay.

Just when I sit, my mother served something similar to tomato soup, but with the meat and potatoes, vey good, but I don't dare to ask what it's made off. I don't see any animals in the village so I haven't got any idea what meet is this and I start to have black thoughts with the fact I didn't see a graveyard either.

- Hey dad...what do we do when somone from our village die?

- Why do you ask a question like this when we eat, Rokvel?

- Without any reason, I'm just curious...

- Well, we cremate them in most of the cases.

I let out a breath I doesn't know I was holding at that information.

- Um, what it means "cremate"?

- It means burning their body until only ashes remains, then their family takes them to the urn, it's the special tank meant for that.

- Oh, do we have an urn like that with somebodys ashes in it?

- No, eat the soup before it will get cold.

My father said with changed, more serious tone. I think it's a sensitive matter, I will not press, I don't care that much either.

- Okay.

I said and started to eat already.

When I finished the dinner and go to pretend I'm reading a book about plants, I once more opened the book with hopes I can learn something about silent casting, but nothing.

It's just like he didn't predict something like that could happen. That it's something impossible.

The mage achived a saint class in his speciality, so he wasn't some unexpirienced guy who just skipped something this important while writing a book about magic.

I'm sure he saw many magic users and even more spells, yet he didn't mention about the third method?

Or maybe it's that obvious that he didn't waste the paper while wrtiting the book?

But, the mage I met in the village was using incantation, although beeing intermediate ranked, from what Hitogami said.

Many questions, little answers. I will not know the truth until I contack with another mage or with Hitogami. I guess I have to live with this, for now.

It's alrady late, I'm going to sleep and see what will future bring.

(7 days later)

I stretch out my hand and a small ball of fire materialised before my palm.

Think I make a big progress in this week.

I mastered all attack magic spells up to beginner level.

Aside from just creating the element, I can throw, pull and overraly manipulate all the elements.

As for healing magic, it's a lot easier than I thought. I was able to heal my bleeding finger in a second try without the incantation.

Today I'm gonna use the intermediate level water spell, Water Canon.

The book says it's a lot more destructive and mana draining from Water ball.

My mana pool has grown quite a lot too. I can make up to 20 water balls before feeling tired.

I always make sure to use the incantation when I use the spell for the dirst time, it's a lot easier to see how the spell really works and then copy it, without the phrase.

I'm standing before the vast desert with my hand stretch out and with the book in my secon hand as I began to chant.

- Supple spirit of water and princess of streams that flow through the earth, sweep away all things with your hidden inner might. Water Cannon.

Suddently a big ball of water, easly 10 times bigger than normal water ball, materialised before my and shoot through the air dropping about 15 meters away from me.

Well, I can feel that takes a lot more mana, but I think I can do it one or two times more before drying all my magic power. I will do it once more, without the incantation this time.

I stretch out my hand once again and tried to visualize the great water ball from before. I felt a ticklisch feeling in my fingertips and a water ball started to create in front of me.

I put more and more mana in it and imagine it bursting with energy, that have nowhere to escape.

The water ball grew bigger and started to burst with the pressure. It grew even bigger than the last time.

I concentrate the pressure on the back of the water ball to fire it forward.

When I done it, I can feel the spell slowly getting out of my control, so I suddently let the pressure explode, what sents the water ball flying, like a cannon ball. The names of the spells are quite matching the result.

I watch the water ball flying about 20 meters, before it lose it's shape and speed, falling on the ground.

I guess it's another productive day.
