Chapter 12: Getting a job to stop being a kept man
"Do you want to get a job?" My mother's voice sounded surprised and a hint of concern as she looked at me.
"Yes, now that Paul is gone we no longer have a fixed source of income, it is the most natural solution even if my daughters were not there I would have to find a job" I replied.
"that is..." My mother wanted to refute but then she bit her lip hard swallowing her words, she knew it was true.
"If that's what you want, Rudy, I'll support you," Lilia said with a weak smile on her face.
I had recently returned from playing with Sylphie and waited for dinner to bring up this topic.
My mother obviously looked reluctant and Lilia just did what she was told.
"But what could you do for a living? I don't know if you could take your father's old job even if the idiot new knight in town leaves." My mother said in a worried tone.
"I may have an idea, Paul said in his letter that he spoke to the mayor of Roa because if he ever needed a job he could go there to apply for one," I explained.
Immediately at the mention of Paul my mother crossed her arms and frowned.
"I don't think it's a good idea to go anywhere that asshole points you to, Rudy. He should be the one keeping this house even if he decided to leave!" Her voice was starting to get louder and louder and only stopped so as not to wake the babies.
"... First we should see what kind of job they offer you there to make a decision" Lilia was the one who interceded for me and my mother just pouted.
"Hmmmp! Sometimes I think you two are always against me!" She said in an angry tone.
"Haaa... But if that's the case then I'll go to Roa tomorrow to talk to Philip, he's your uncle by the way" my mother said as she got up from the table.
"hmm..." I simply nodded as I stood up in the same way, collecting my dishes.
The decision had already been made.
The next day my mother left for Roa with Laws, taking advantage of the fact that he was going to pick up provisions for his family.
And at the same time Lilia and I were left alone at home but unfortunately we couldn't do anything since she dedicated herself to taking care of the girls while I gave my last classes to Sylphie which brought us to the next moment.
...
"haaa..." I let out a long sigh to calm the nervousness that ran through my body.
"Rudy? Is something wrong?" Sylphie asked with a worried expression.
"Yes...actually that's what I wanted to talk to you about..." I murmured as I sat up straight.
"Hmm? Wh-what's wrong?" She asked as anxiety grew on her face.
"Due to the recent situation in my family... maybe I will have to leave the town to work" I murmured softly.
"..." The girl remained completely silent as she looked at me.
"I know this may sound sudden but... Don't worry, I won't leave the village forev- ugh!" A green ball rushed at me at a speed that I couldn't react to and I quickly felt two arms hugging me tightly.
"n-no...don't g-go..." She sobbed softly as I felt my clothes getting wet from her tears.
"Sylphie... I'm sorry but-"
"No! Don't go! Stay with me!" Sylphie pleaded as her hug grew even tighter.
'Shit...how do I get out of here?'
And as if it were a god or Morgan, I heard the voice of the system.

'Fucking Morgan!'
"haaa..." I let out another sigh but I couldn't find any other way to end this quickly.
"Sylphie...please calm down..." I said as I hugged her tightly and somehow her hug got even tighter.
"Please...d-don't leave me..." Her whispers were desperate pleas.
"I will never leave you Sylphie...because I love you" I said and Sylphie's body stopped shaking immediately.
And at the same time she slowly raised her head to look at me, her eyes were swollen and tears fell slightly and her eyes opened wide.
"Y-you love me?" She stuttered as a blush crept into her cheeks.
"Yes, I love you Sylphie and I want to spend the rest of my life with you... But now I have to work for my family... Still that doesn't mean we won't see each other in a while" I said with a smile.
"huuu..." Contrary to what I thought Sylphie started to sob again but now her body wasn't shaking and a big smile formed on her face.
"I-I love you too Rudy...and I also w-want to spend the rest of my life with you..." She whispered as she buried her head in my chest tightly.
"Thanks Sylphie, besides I won't go far, I'll just go to work in Roa" I said while stroking her hair.
"Huh?!, j-just Roa?!" She squealed as she lifted her head from my chest immediately.
"Yeah? What's wrong?" I asked, confused.
"uuuh..." She squealed as she curled up, covering her face in embarrassment.
"I-I said all those embarrassing things and you're just going to Roa!" She squealed.
"Huh? Haha! It's better to make everything clear, right?" I said while looking at her with a big smile.
"Rudy!" She just screamed in embarrassment while pouting.

As Sylphie writhed on the grass in embarrassment, the knowledge of spells and their incantations the way they acted and the way they were thrown flooded my mind in succession.
'I'll let Sylphie learn these spells while I'm gone.'
The thought came to my mind as I nodded to myself.
...
"I'm back," I said as I walked into the house and took off my shirt wet with Sylphie's tears.
"Oh wow, it seems she didn't take it so well, huh?" Lilia said as she hugged me from behind, resting her tits on my head.
"You could say that, but I spoke to her and after telling her it would only be in Roa, she relaxed."
"hmm" Lilia hummed as her hands caressed my bare chest which was beginning to develop muscles.
"Lilia..." My voice came out in a warning tone: "If you continue like this, the girls will be left without anyone to take care of them."
"hmmm..." She just pouted and in the end she pinched my nipples while taking my wet shirt without saying anything.
"While you were gone, you received a letter, it's from Roxy," she said.
I blinked several times in genuine surprise as Lilia handed me the letter.
I quickly went to my room or well the room I share with mom and opened it.
'Ha! It's written in the language of the demon god!'
"Dear Rudy, it's been almost a year since I last saw you, time sure flies, doesn't it?"
"In my quest to increase my magical abilities, I made my way to the kingdom of Shirone where I conquered several labyrinths by myself!"
"This not only caught the attention of the King of that country but also caught the attention of the King of the Dragon King kingdom himself!"
"Can you believe it? I was even taken to the kingdom by private escort and offered a job as a tutor to one of the King's children!"
"Although in fact and even if you don't believe it, the King has more than thirty children!"
"I was in charge of teaching the 9th prince named Julius, his talent in magic is quite average and he is a normal child unlike you"
"Maybe I'll be in this kingdom for another two or three years, who knows, I'm still waiting for you to keep your promise, Rudy."
"And you're also thinking about Sylphie, right? Well, although I think you already know, I'll tell you anyway, that poor girl loves you with all her heart, and seeing her so depressed with the simple idea that another woman claimed you, I gave her the idea that we both could be your wives, she took it with too much enthusiasm..."
"Maybe she's already told you, or maybe she hasn't, or maybe she made a mistake in telling you now..."
"But I'll be waiting for you anyway, Rudy."
"with love: Roxy"
"..." I remained silent as I processed the letter Roxy had given me.
"So the two of them managed to share me, huh? Plus, Roxy just ratted out poor Sylphie..." A smile formed on my face as I imagined the conversation those two must have had.
"Rudy! I'm here! And I have news!" My mother's voice echoed from the ground floor of the house and I quickly ran to her.
"Mom... What happened?" I asked.
"Hmm! According to Philip, your idiot father went to talk to him and told him about your abilities. He might have a job for you, and it's to tutor his daughter." My mother's voice was filled with disdain at the mere mention of my father, but as she changed the subject, her expression softened.
"being a tutor..." I was silent for a few moments when I saw that it was the usual job of looking after Eris.
"Okay, I accept," I said, and my mother smiled smugly.
"Good! Anyway, they'll come looking for you tomorrow...so you'll have to pack your things now." My mother's happy tone faded when she noticed my departure.
"Then we'll have to get to work while we're apart, right?" I murmured with a smile as I hugged her.
"Rudy—" my mother whispered as she looked at Lilia.
"You're not thinking about doing it without me, are you?" she asked as she took off her maid outfit.
"Of course not," I said, and so the three of us went up to the bedroom.
...
"Rudy..." Sylphie's voice sounded pitiful as she hugged me, tears threatening to spill out of her eyes.
"Come on, Phi. You know Rudeus has to go. Don't delay him any longer," Laws said, holding Sylphie by the shoulders.
"Uh-huh..." She slowly let me go as she looked at me.
In the distance, I could see a carriage approaching. It was time for me to go.
"Rudy..."
"Young master."
My mother and Lilia hugged me tightly. My little "sisters" were asleep inside the house.
I knew I was doing all this for them, so I shouldn't hesitate.
"Here's your carriage," my mother said, taking one of my bags.
"Okay, Sylphie!" I turned to the elf, who jumped when she saw me.
"W-what's wrong?" She squealed as she looked at me uncertainly.
"Here, something to pass the time while I'm gone," I said, handing her a medium-sized book.
"..." She remained silent as she looked at the book and then nodded.
"This is it?" Suddenly, a rather deep female voice echoed through the courtyard. I turned to see whose voice it was and was astonished.
Dark skin, gray hair, red eyes, extremely revealing clothing...
Ghislaine Dedoldia the Sword King.
"Ghislaine! It's been a while!" my mother said wistfully as she ran toward the beastwoman.
"Hmm... so that's Paul's brat, huh?" she said as she looked at me.
"Yes! He's my little Rudy, and don't let appearances fool you! He's more of a man than Paul will ever be!" my mother declared.
"Heh..." Ghislaine just laughed softly and re-entered the carriage when she saw all my luggage inside.
"I guess this is goodbye!" I said with a melancholic expression.
"Yeah, don't forget to write!" my mother said reproachfully.
"Rudy..."
"Don't worry, Sylphie. I'll also send you letters when I can. Plus, I'll come back for a week every month," I said, and Sylphie's spirits lifted as she nodded.
So, without further ado, I got into the carriage and left Buena Village.
But the reality of the situation hit me like a pipe.
I slowly turned to look at Ghislaine, who was standing right in front of me with her arms resting on the carriage window. A mocking smile spread across her face.
"You really are Paul's son," she murmured.
"Huh?..."
"I can smell your arousal, and it's stronger than Paul's," she continued.
"Uugh..." I simply groaned, avoiding her gaze, but I could see out of the corner of my eye that she closed her legs and lowered her posture as she closed her eyes.
'Ohhh...this is going to be interesting!'
