Musicverse Showdown Starting In DC

Chapter 4: First Song (Prep Time)

The Hotel

"Well, that was eventful"

Closing the door behind me, I walk towards the room behind the reception counter, having designated that one as my bedroom, so as to make dealing with customers easier.

This way I don't need to go up and down the elevator when I can just come out straight to the front desk and greet customers.

"Missions!"

[Missions]

1. Make the first two gate connections to the DC Universe.

Reward: Photographic Memory (Claimed)

2. Spread your music online.

Reward: Nightwing's Martial Arts,

3. Host your first contest.

Reward: Spell Weaver

"I don't think I'm going to be able to host my first contest yet. Even though the Hotel is available to access in both Gotham and Jump City, I'm not well know, and there is only a door with neon sign to mark the location."

"Alright, time to take on my next mission, it's time to spread my music."

Heading to my desk I sit down, placing my new laptop and mic that I picked up on the way back down, I'm going to use this for making my music and streaming.

This has eaten up almost all my money already, over $1,700 gone, leaving me $300 left over.

Ah, money, I'll earn some soon, Robin said the titans would pay a visit tommorow, so I can wait for that, for now I should get my first song ready. Luckily my room doesn't echo so I can stream without issue.

My room is actually very spacious, containing a king sized bed, a mahogany desk, even some tools for music mixing. I was thinking of creating a booths for music recording, but realised that I'd just be streaming on Twitch, editing the clip of me singing, and then publishing to YouTube.

There isn't really much need for going that far, at least not yet. Maybe I can add more things to this space once I increase my control.

Right now, I can only make basic stuff, even the dials for the contest space and the door wouldn't have been possible without the system's help, it having deemed the dials as part of the setup for the rift and the environment only being so easy to make because of needing a place to my business, so it's like I was given a temporary boost.

Now that the 'trial period' is over, I will have to work hard to make any more improvements, casually making small studio rooms will be really hard as I am now.

"No matter, I'll deal with it when the time comes, the challenge areas are good enough for now."

Booting up the laptop and setting up my profile, I open up notepad and start listing all the songs that I remember from my past life.

I am a little surprised by how easy it is to recall not just the names of songs I used to listen to but also the lyrics, I would have thought that I'd have forgotten most of them by now.

Sure, maybe I'd remember some of the music that I'd listened to a little bit before my demise but I remember EVERYTHING.

Perhaps, the photographic memory skill has also increased my ability to recall memories that happened before I acquired this ability...then again, maybe it's the system enhancing my memory of stuff related to its purpose.

Who cares, this is less of a headache for me! Why question something useful, if some mystical god is watching me for fun, then I'm not going to be an edge lord and look for a way to piss them off just because I'm insecure.

All that I care about is that right now, they are doing me a huge favour, no need to look for trouble where there is none.

So, back to the music.

This is my first song that I'll be publishing in this world, it doesn't have to be too big as it's unlikely that my first song will gain much traction, there are lots of musicians out there and just as many content creators.

Why would people choose to listen to me over the more well known artists? I need to grow my audience slowly, so something heavily impactful isn't necessary.

Once I've gotten a few hundred followers I can think about making more music that resonates with the soul, then I won't waste my better choices by having buried in obscurity because I released them too early and they were ignored over more expd artists.

A few hundred followers should be enough to get me clicks as people on the Internet usually play follow the leader when it comes to their interests.

Why spend hours searching for something good when their is evidence of something good right in front of you?

The likes, the subs, the follows, even the views themselves can get me seen aand/or recommended to people.

A nice thumbnail for videos will definitely help, but that's for another time when I can afford to make official videos for my songs.

So, the question is, what song will I sing first?

Something smooth, it's enjoyable but not over the top. It should be fun, to get you moving but not make you feel like like you need to go running around the room, small movements should still feel right, evenif you don't want to try copy the full choreography.

Oh, oh. Haha, this going to be fun.

Let's practice a little and then start a dual stream on YouTube and Twitch.

Harley Quinn (POV)

"He is SUCH a jerk!" I yell, pacing up and down Ivy's apartment, swinging my bat at any object in my sight and muttering so many curse words underneath my breath that even a sailor would be envious.

"Calm down, let's use our words Harley." My best friend, Ivy, attempted to soothe me.

"I waited for a YEAR! AN ENTIRE FUCKING YEAR! He said that he would have me out before breakfast! That lying, dog faced, little shit, with a whore of -"

Ivy quickly grabs me by the shoulders and brings me into a hug and pats my back as I suddenly break down into tears.

*Sniff* *Sniff*

"I thought...I thought he loved me Ivy. Was everything a lie? Was even my heart a joke to him?"

"Harley...I'm sorry, I really am. We all tried to warn you but-"

"-But I was too stupid to see the truth, no, I didn't want to see truth. I'm just another replaceable doll to him."

*Sniff*

"What should I do now, Ivy? I dedicated my everything to him, all I ever thought about was how to make him happy, how to get him pay even the smallest bit of attention to me. I don't know what to do now."

I raise my head to look up at Ivy's face with my tear filled eyes, hoping for an idea, a direction, anything to stop feeling this pain.

"Acknowledging the problem was the first and hardest step to recovering. For now let's calm down with some music in the background while we think of what to do next."

She taps my nose with her finger, getting a small laugh out of me, despite all that I'm feeling right now.

"Good idea, I'm lucky to have friend like you Ivy."

"I know."
