Musicverse Showdown Starting In DC

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Jump City

Turning to the entrance of the hotel, I put my hand on the door and close my eyes, picturing a wall in the middle of Gotham, preferable between Wayne Enterprises and The Iceberg Lounge.

*ZPP*

"Doesn't seem much different. The door looks the same."

Reaching out towards the handle, I pull it open, smiling at the sight that awaits me.

"The outside, I can leave this space now, if I choose to. I'm not going to though, I need to setup the next portal."

Closing the door I once again repeat the process, this time picturing a wall in Jump City near the Pizza Corner.

This is the pizza store that the titans seem to frequently patronise, so this makes it the perfect place to get their attention from as a new location randomly appearing overnight would be pretty unusual.

"Well, even if they decide not to make an appearance, I know their rogue gallery will. Hive seems to also hang around this area funnily enough. I wonder why the titans are never able to get them before they commit another crime."

Anyway, snapping of those thoughts, I pull open the door and look outside once again, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Luckily this place isn't a dreary as Gotham, it should be safe wonder around during the day. Maybe grab something to eat and maybe take a look at the tower that the titans live in. It's tall, on a small island, and shaped like the letter T, it shouldn't be too hard to miss."

~Growl~

"Ah! I'll stabilise the portals and then head to the pizza corner. I'm starving."

Once more focusing to make sure that both portals stay connected to the door, I add on the feature that allows those who enter to return to where they came from after they leave so that I don't have to always manually change the door's destination.

'Cool, not helpful right now though. I care more about eating my full currently.'

Opening the door towards Jump City, I walk out into the fresh air, not realising just how much I missed the cool breeze on my face.

'I must have been affected by that white void more than I thought if I'm this happy about merely going outside.'

Walk towards the pizza shop across the road, I take a look inside, hoping to see someone that I recognise, but faited to be disappointed as their were only regular customers inside right now.

'Can't expect to get lucky straight away I've only just got here after all. Maybe someone will show up next time.'

Walking towards the counter, I place an order for a stuffed crust 12" Veggie Pizza to go. Don't get me wrong, I eat meat, I enjoy a nice, thick sausage just as much as any other person, but the veggie pizza is where it's at.

You ask me to explain? Well just look at all the toppings you get with it that bring out an amazing flavour without overloading the taste buds, like a meat lovers pizza would. For some reason it tastes good, but feels a bit much, I swear that they give that pizza a little extra kick on purpose. Such tastes are not for me.

Paying for my food and heading out, I make my way towards a bench about ten minutes away on the beach, so that I could observe titan tower, as well as enjoy the sound of the waves, while eating my food.

"How does that tower stay standing? It's a scientific marvel, a building like this would collapse under the weight of the two hanging sides of the building. The structural integrity should have caused it's collapse ages ago."

"It's surprisingly more stable than it looks, we can even bring a few cranes onto the roof, or land multiple helicopters and it won't cause much trouble." An amused voice states from my left.

Jumping from the sudden interruption to my thoughts, I look towards where the voice came from, only to see Robin standing there, confirming my thoughts of this being the Teen Titans from the two thousand and three animated series.

'Well, I thought they would be, but it's nice to confirm it. This is their best version after all, at least to me that is.'

'I know spouting future knowledge is taboo for reincarnators but I really want to wipe away this guys smirk. His face just looks so punchable.'

"Hey, man. I'm new to this place, thought I'd check out the tower after hearing so much about you guys. Nice to meet you." I say, wiping my hands on a serviettes, before reaching over for a hand shake.

"I thought so, the tower has been here for a while now and most people are used to it. We don't get many people coming over to watch it these days.

Anyway, nice to meet you, I'm Robin." He replies, firmly shaking my hand, probably trying to get a measure for my strength, just incase.

"Ah, really? Must be nice to have such friendly protectors. Where I'm from there are no heros or vigilantes, luckily we only had small time criminals."

"Personally,i believe that having no one other than the police there is a good thing, it means that you don't have to worry about your building blowing up every Friday."

Robin gives a little chuckle at his joke, me just letting out a small smile as I realise how right he is. Having vigilantes and heros nearby isn't a good thing, not because they are bad themselves, but because something has made it necessary for them to be there.

"I never thought about it like that, but I guess you are right. To be honest, I came to this city for some work. My home city isnt a very good place to start a business in, so I am giving this place a go."

"Oh, what type of work were you thinking of getting into?" He asks, doing a few stretches. I guess my musings interrupted his run.

"Oh, I've built a place for hotel for music battles, like karaoke but instead it's Riff-Offs. People can check in for the night or longer, and join in on contests against each other, either privately, or publicly. There isn't much music going around these days so I thought it would be be a good change."

Robin turns back to me, stopping his stretches as he blinked in surprise before smiling.

"That would be a nice change in pace, there isn't even a normal karaoke place around here, maybe the rest of the team can pay it a visit at some point when we arn't as busy."

"Oh, it's opposite of Pizza Corner in town. I just came from there after getting some pizza to eat. They have some very good veggie style pizza."

"Pizza Corner? I went there yesterday and there was nothing in that location. How did an entire hotel and club appear overnight? Are you a meta?"

"Oh, yeah. I have access to my own dimensional space where violence is impossible. It's pretty good for building a place that doesn't get blown up regularly, hahaha."

"Yeah, I guess." Robin frowns, probably running through all the ways my ability could negatively be exploited to hurt someone, or trap them.

"Don't worry, I like money and not getting punched. I don't think there will be any situation that makes me go to the dark side." I quickly continue, hoping to put him a little more at ease.

"Well, we are definitely going to be coming for a look around now, I guess."

"Well, business is business, I guess."
