My beautiful wife is a rich lady

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: The First Appearance of Night Owl

The night was as dark as ink, shrouding the entire city in a heavy veil. The lights flickered on the glass curtain walls of the skyscrapers, resembling cold eyes watching the people in the darkness below. Olivia leaned against the floor-to-ceiling window of the study, her brow slightly furrowed, the wine in her glass long since turned cold. At the desk, Ethan was flipping through a thick stack of documents, the words related to "Night Owl" in the Lorn database making his expression grow more somber.

"Who is 'Night Owl'? Why is he connected to my family?" Olivia asked softly, her voice tinged with unease.

Ethan looked up, his gaze deep. "Night Owl is a legendary figure in the black market, ruthless and meticulous. His plans have never failed. He controls the entire underground world's intelligence and trade. More importantly..." He paused, his voice lowering, "Your grandfather once worked with Night Owl."

Olivia's heart skipped a beat as she recalled the difficult times her grandfather often mentioned, but never had he spoken of the name "Night Owl."

"So, not only do we have to face Lorn, but also this person hidden in the darkness..." Olivia whispered.

Ethan walked over to her side, gently taking her hand, his eyes full of determination. "No matter who we face, I will be by your side."

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, in a dimly lit chamber, a silver mask gleamed in the faint light, with hawk-shaped patterns intricately designed. Night Owl tapped his fingers lightly on the table, a cold smile curling at the corner of his lips. "Olivia, you've finally made it here. Lorn is just a pawn, the real game has just begun."

Night Owl's background was shrouded in mystery; no one knew his real name or what he looked like. Once an abandoned orphan, he had struggled to survive in the underground world, climbing to the top step by step through intelligence and ruthlessness. Every one of his schemes was like a meticulously woven net, trapping his enemies without escape. Olivia's grandfather had once saved the young Night Owl, but it was also he who had pushed Night Owl into the abyss.

The phone call connected, and Night Owl's voice came low and menacing. "Have 'Phantom' get close to Olivia and gather everything about her."

"Phantom," Night Owl's most trusted subordinate, was skilled in stealth and disguise. She had single-handedly destroyed several rival organizations. This time, her target was Olivia—the girl Night Owl would eventually have to face.

That night, Olivia and Ethan arrived at her grandfather's old house. While searching for clues, they discovered a contract, with the signatures of "Night Owl" and Olivia's grandfather clearly visible.

"Grandfather sought out 'Night Owl' to protect the family business," Olivia thought, her mind filled with mixed emotions.

"But 'Night Owl' won't let go so easily," Ethan said in a deep voice.

Suddenly, there was a faint sound of footsteps. A figure in black moved swiftly into the room, beginning to search through the documents.

"Phantom..." Ethan whispered.

Phantom's movements were swift and efficient. She smiled faintly, a trace of coldness in her eyes. Olivia and Ethan held their breath, waiting until Phantom had left before they dared to move.

"We have to act fast, or 'Night Owl' will beat us to it," Olivia's eyes were filled with resolve.

Night Owl stood by the window of his chamber, gazing at the night sky. "You think you can escape from my grasp?"

In the night wind, their figures vanished at the end of the street, while "Night Owl's" eyes never left them...

Night Owl walked slowly to a yellowed photograph, depicting an older man and a small boy. The boy's gaze was defiant; it was a young Night Owl, and the man—Olivia's grandfather—was the most complicated figure in his life. Once his savior, now the target of his vengeance. Night Owl whispered, "I've paid my debt to him. Now, it's time to take back what I deserve."

Phantom quietly appeared at the door, whispering, "Master, Olivia has noticed our presence. What should we do next?"

"Let her continue searching. The closer she gets to the truth, the harder it will be for her to escape," Night Owl's voice was calm, but cold. Phantom nodded and disappeared into the darkness.

Olivia and Ethan returned to their apartment, and Olivia fell into deep thought. "Ethan, what does Night Owl want? Is it just revenge?"

"Probably not. What he wants may be something your family controls, or even... you," Ethan's tone was unusually grave.

The night wind had grown colder. Olivia looked up at the starry sky, the stars shining brightly, but they couldn't dispel the unease in her heart.
