Chapter 82: Chapter 82: An Eye for an Eye, a Tooth for a Tooth
Before leaving Ling Shuang City, Luo Sheng accompanied Dongfang Muqing back to the courtyard mansion they had purchased earlier.
Upon arrival, Luo Sheng was shocked to discover her personal treasury: an entire room filled with gold, silver, sparkling spirit stones, and radiant jewelry.
For a moment, he mistook it for the treasure vault of the City Lord's residence.
"This little girl is ridiculously rich," he thought.
In just two short months of performing, she had amassed wealth rivaling that of the city itself, earning nearly 2.08 million daily. Were lolis this good at making money nowadays?
"You're a true rich lady," Luo Sheng couldn't help but give her a thumbs up.
Dongfang Muqing was elated. She placed her hands on her hips, puffing out her chest proudly. "I promised to make money to support you, didn't I? Of course, I wouldn't go back on my word!"
"But giving this money to me is useless," Luo Sheng sighed. He wasn't from this card world and had no way to spend it.
"What should we do then? Should I keep it all?" Dongfang Muqing frowned slightly, looking troubled at the thought of what to do with her hard-earned fortune.
Luo Sheng gently patted her little twin buns of hair. "This is your hard-earned money. Keep it all. If you don't take it, it's a waste. Besides, you'll need money when you're out and about."
"Okay!" Dongfang Muqing's eyes sparkled with excitement as she quickly stored the massive fortune into her spatial treasure, the Azure Feather.
Watching this, Luo Sheng added, "With this much money, you can live comfortably from now on. There's no need to perform anymore—it's safer that way."
Dongfang Muqing, being a support-type character, lacked any combat ability. If she wandered around on her own, she'd undoubtedly stir up trouble. It was better to keep her in a safe, hidden place, letting Luo Sheng handle everything and gradually strengthen her.
Dongfang Muqing nodded obediently. "Alright, I've packed everything. I'll do as you say."
"Then let's get ready to leave," Luo Sheng said casually. Then, recalling something, he added, "But before we go, let's give them a little farewell gift. I'm someone who keeps his promises."
---
At the Black Tiger Gang's docks, their warehouses, luxurious brothels, and massive pleasure boats simultaneously erupted into blazing infernos.
The flames surged like a fiery tornado, consuming the intricately carved buildings and sprawling wooden warehouses. The crimson fire pierced the sky, illuminating the night like a radiant sunrise.
Even from a distance, the fiery spectacle was unmistakable, accompanied by panicked shouts below.
"Fire! Fire!"
"Quick! Put it out!"
"It's no use! The fire's too strong!"
Members of the Black Tiger Gang frantically splashed water, but it was futile. The fire was bizarre—it continued to burn even when doused with water. It only extinguished when the buildings were reduced to ashes.
Even warriors and cultivators who used spells to suppress the flames failed. Those who got fire on their clothes found it impossible to extinguish, forcing them to leap into the lake to save themselves.
By the end of the night, the Black Tiger Gang's assets were utterly destroyed.
"Damn it! Who the hell did this?!" roared a man in green robes, gripping a sword as he stared at the destruction before him.
This man, the gang's second-in-command and a cultivator, was responsible for their strategic operations. Now, with such catastrophic losses, he couldn't possibly explain himself to the Nangong family, their major backer, who owned half the gang's shares.
The gang owed their rise entirely to the Nangong family, which provided resources and cultivation opportunities for its members.
"It was me," a voice rang out from above.
The man looked up to see a youth clad in steel armor, standing on a rooftop and looking down at him.
"You dare destroy my gang's property? You're dead!" the man bellowed, unleashing his sword technique. Several flying swords materialized, shooting toward Luo Sheng with a sharp whistle.
This sword art, learned from a nearby sect, was his proudest technique. Even armored opponents could be pierced by it. As long as his spiritual energy didn't run out, he could use this technique indefinitely.
However, to his shock, the flying swords were stopped by a thin, water-like barrier around Luo Sheng, unable to penetrate even an inch.
Luo Sheng smirked down at him. "You're not as impressive as I thought. What gave you the confidence to mess with me and take my pet?"
"We're with the Nangong family!" the man blurted, fear creeping into his voice. He hoped to intimidate Luo Sheng with their powerful backers.
Unfortunately, it didn't work.
"I don't care what family you're from. If you piss me off, there'll be consequences," Luo Sheng replied coldly.
"You bastard! You're dead!" the man yelled, preparing to unleash another attack.
Before he could act, a woman in red appeared beside him, grinning mischievously. "I hate it when people try to hurt my dear. I won't allow it, no matter who they are."
The man barely had time to process Bai Moxue's ethereal beauty before her melodic voice, like a devil's whisper, sent chills down his spine.
"Ghost!!!" he screamed, trembling uncontrollably. Instinctively, he turned to flee, realizing these people were far beyond his league.
But he only managed a few steps before a cold sensation swept across his neck. A moment later, his head hit the ground.
Luo Sheng wasn't petty, but anyone who dared provoke him would face severe consequences. He had given the Black Tiger Gang a chance, but they stubbornly refused to back down.
In the distance, the sound of hoofbeats echoed.
"Death will descend upon you all! Hahaha!"
The Shadow of War, wielding his massive blade, mercilessly cut down the remaining Black Tiger Gang members.
None of them were innocent. They had long been a scourge, bullying and oppressing the people. Their deaths were a service to the city.
--
Ling Shuang City's streets returned to their usual tranquility.
Far from being tainted by the previous night's bloodshed, the city seemed cleaner. Ashes and debris had been washed away, leaving the streets pristine.
The townspeople cheered upon discovering the Black Tiger Gang's ruined properties.
"Justice has been served! Those Black Tiger bastards finally got what they deserved!"
"Yes! Their roots have been cut—they won't recover from this!"
"Good riddance! Those scumbags bullied us for too long. Whoever took them out is a hero!"
Many people wept, some lamenting lost loved ones who hadn't lived to see this day.
Grateful citizens gathered at the Niansheng Tea House to thank their mysterious savior. But when they arrived, they found the place empty—Luo Sheng and his companions had long since left.
Meanwhile, Luo Sheng was speeding toward their next destination on his motorcycle.
Sitting on the gas tank, Dongfang Muqing swung her little feet and clung to the rearview mirrors excitedly. Her bright eyes sparkled with curiosity. "What kind of treasure is this? It's amazing! Can I play with it?"
