Chapter 5: Legendary Mission
With difficulty, the knight moved, feeling Itaru's fast steps around him. "Damn you, no one has fought me and survived,"
The beast whispered. In the next moment, Itaru did not strike the ground but the knight's head using his magma skill. That strike created a lava pit beneath the knight, causing him to begin sinking.
In an instant, Itaru felt a plasma shot hit his shoulder, penetrating his skin and tissues, making him fall to his knees beside the prisoners. His vision began to partially fade.
"Sir, are you okay?"
Maylo approached him, staring at the extent of the poisoning in his arm. If not treated, he would be dead within fifteen minutes.
The prisoners' happiness over Itaru's victory over the beast made them forget about him for a moment. Maylo stared at them and said, "Does anyone here have healing abilities?"
Not because he had decided to dedicate his life to Itaru, but when he touched Itaru, it felt as if there was an immense energy inside this boy.
One of the prisoners, who had red eyes, stepped forward. "In my region, there is a healer. I can transport you both. I owe him my life."
The prisoner wore rings made of fangs belonging to one of the beasts. Despite his weak body, the power emanating from him could only be measured by a sharp eye.
The one with the rings approached, placed his hand on Itaru and the one with the octopus head, and muttered strange incantations. Their vision began to blur, leaving the rest of the prisoners behind, as anyone would flee to save their own skin. Defeating one of Prince Kyron's knights would not go unpunished.
...
It was not long before dozens of soldiers arrived at the scene, where the knight's body still lay. The beast, who stood, was speaking with one of the lower-ranked soldiers.
They all bowed when one of the ministers from the prince's palace passed by. "Sir, the one responsible for the killings in the fifth mine and the knight sent to investigate is known as the Dragon Slayer."
A blow pierced the soldier's gut, causing him to fall to his knees. "I asked you to find the culprit, not to give me a useless report. I despise people like you!"
His loud scream silenced the ears of some soldiers for minutes. It had been a hundred years since Prince Kairon took control of the region, and no one had dared to mess with him. Even the former Dragon King himself had not dared to cross the boundaries of his region.
"Wherever that so-called Dragon Slayer is, bring him to me alive, no—bring me his head!"
The minister issued his orders, and the soldiers hurriedly dispersed, searching for Itaru, who had now become one of Prince Kyron's targets.
...
The room smelled of strange liquids. Itaru began to feel his limbs move, and his vision gradually cleared.
He was alive. He tried to get up, sitting up, when someone placed a hand on his shoulder. "You still need to rest."
Itaru regained full consciousness and gripped his arm, breathing calmly. "I'm fine,"
He murmured, staring at the demon with the octopus head. He had said his name... Maylo, Itaru thought, studying him.
[Congratulations on completing the rare task.]

Itaru pressed Maylo's icon to view his details.
[Name: Maylo

Demon Blood: 500/1000

Itaru was surprised to learn that Maylo had defeated the Tyrok, the third strongest demon race. Humans ranked them as the fifty most dangerous demon types.
Compared to Maylo, Itaru was weak in terms of demon blood. He still had to kill more demons to become like them.
Reality snapped back when a beast with rings spoke. His face was covered by a mask. "Welcome, Dragon Slayer, to my region, belonging to the Saodis race. My name is York. I hope to be of assistance to you."
York said as he bowed.
"My race has suffered oppression because of Prince Kairon for years. I was captured, and thanks to you, I am finally free. I offer my life to you and request to become your follower. My region is now yours," York said, bowing, "I have many servants at my disposal."
"Of course, I won't refuse," Itaru thought, his face still cold.
[Do you accept York as your follower?]
Itaru didn't hesitate to accept the system's offer, and a series of system screens appeared.
[The Regions section has been unlocked. York offers you his region to be under your command.]

The sight of both Maylo and York stirred a feeling of happiness within Itaru. Finally, he could start his path of revenge.
"Prince Kairon is the current danger. He won't let what happened go unpunished. Please, protect us from his wrath. We will do anything in return. We don't want our race and people to suffer more oppression,"
Both Maylo and York spoke clearly and in unison, bowing their heads down.
