My Hero Academia: The Hidden Pulse

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Training Begins

Kairo woke up early, his heart brimming with energy and determination. Today was going to be another step forward. The Quirk that had awakened within him was still unfamiliar, but his resolve to master it was stronger than ever.

His father, Ryuta, had been the one to guide him in these early stages, while his mother, Rika, had been cautious, always urging him to take things slowly and stay safe. Still, Kairo knew that without understanding his Quirk, he wouldn't be able to move forward.

In the backyard, Kairo stood, taking deep breaths, as his father approached. "Ready?" Ryuta asked with a slight grin. His presence was calm, but his eyes held an undeniable confidence in Kairo's potential.

Kairo nodded eagerly, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I'm ready."

"Remember," Ryuta said, "focus is key. Your Quirk isn't just about the vibrations. It's about controlling the force behind them. You need to channel your energy, not let it overwhelm you."

Kairo extended his hand, and immediately, the faint vibrations began to pulse beneath his skin. It felt like a low hum, a distant thrum of energy that could surge at any moment. The ground beneath him quivered, as if reacting to the energy swirling inside him.

His father stood at a distance, watching closely. "Calm your mind. You need to be in control, not the other way around."

Taking a deep breath, Kairo closed his eyes, focusing on the energy. Slowly, the vibrations settled down, no longer shaking the ground beneath him. He felt the hum within his body grow quieter as he exerted his will over it.

After a few moments, Kairo opened his eyes and glanced at his father. "I did it. I think I've got it."

Ryuta smiled and nodded approvingly. "Good. But remember, practice is everything. This is just the beginning."

As Kairo turned to head inside, he glanced at his mother, who had been watching from the kitchen window. She smiled softly, though her eyes still held a flicker of concern. "Just be careful, Kairo," she called.

"I will, Mom," Kairo responded, grinning. He felt good—excited about the possibilities his Quirk might hold. But he knew there was still so much more to learn.

Kairo arrived at school feeling upbeat and ready to face whatever came his way. Today was the first day back since he'd learned about his Quirk, and he couldn't wait to see how things unfolded. His classmates were buzzing with their own excitement, as everyone had been talking about their own Quirks in recent days.

As he walked into the classroom, his eyes caught a familiar figure sitting in the corner—Kenta, a classmate who was known for his telekinesis Quirk. The boy was levitating a pencil in front of him as he scribbled notes in the air, a smug grin on his face.

"Hey, Kairo!" Kenta called out, waving him over. "Heard you finally got your Quirk to work. What's it like?"

Kairo smiled and walked over, feeling a spark of excitement. "It's still a work in progress, but I think I'm getting the hang of it."

Kenta raised an eyebrow. "Getting the hang of it? You mean you can actually control it now? Impressive."

Kairo shrugged. "I'm still learning, but I can feel it. I've been practicing."

Kenta leaned back in his chair, a teasing smile on his face. "You know, if you ever want to test your power against mine, I'm game. A little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone, right?"

Kairo chuckled, a glint of determination in his eyes. "I'm always up for a challenge."

The two exchanged a few more words, and then Kairo headed to his desk, feeling lighter than ever. The idea of a friendly rivalry was exciting—it wasn't about proving who was better, but rather testing each other's limits and learning from one another.

As he sat down, Kairo noticed a girl in his class, Mei, who was sitting nearby. She was a quiet one, often keeping to herself, but today she seemed to be staring at him curiously. Kairo didn't think much of it at first, but then he noticed something strange: Mei's eyes seemed to shimmer, as if they were reflecting something that wasn't there.

Suddenly, Kairo felt the air around him shift. He blinked, and for a moment, everything around him seemed to warp—his desk, the walls, even the other students—all of it distorted as though seen through a funhouse mirror.

Confused, he rubbed his eyes, and the illusion vanished as quickly as it had come.

"Did you see that?" Kairo muttered to himself. He looked around, but no one else seemed to be noticing anything odd.

Mei, who had been sitting still, looked up and caught his gaze. A faint, mysterious smile tugged at her lips before she quickly turned her attention back to her notes.

Kairo furrowed his brow, a new curiosity forming in his mind. Mei's Quirk, he realized, was related to illusions. The way she manipulated perception—it was a powerful ability. And it seemed that she had been testing him. A small smirk curled onto Kairo's face. If that was her challenge, he was more than ready for it.
