My Pokemon Turned into Girls?!

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: The Shaken Sabrina

Sabrina was not a trainer who could be beaten by conventional means. The more Kazuki learned about her, the more he understood the weight of those words.

It wasn't because her understanding of Pokémon or her battle strategies was unmatched—though those alone already made her formidable. The problem lay in the fact that, under the rules of Pokémon battles, Sabrina herself was an almost unstoppable force.

Her ability to command with telepathy overwhelmed traditional trainers' verbal commands in both efficiency and secrecy. Her psychic powers could synchronize with her Pokémon, amplifying the strength of her Psychic-types. On top of that, her psychic sensory abilities allowed her to control the battlefield even in situations where visibility was impaired.

If these were merely the tools of a Psychic trainer, they might still fall within the gray area of the rules. But what came next was downright cheating:

Sabrina used her own psychic powers to perform Teleport on her Pokémon mid-battle—even while they were already using another move.

This was the truth behind the seemingly impossible feat Kazuki had witnessed during his first challenge, where it looked like her Pokémon could use two moves at once.

It was, without a doubt, equivalent to a trainer stepping onto the battlefield themselves with an item in hand—an act strictly forbidden by the Pokémon League.

The problem was that Sabrina's psychic powers were so potent that few even noticed her interference.

Only trainers with deep knowledge about Pokémon might suspect something was off.

But as long as Sabrina didn't admit it, there was no way to prove her involvement.

All these advantages, combined with her unique brand of "legal" cheating, meant that challengers were met with a towering wall of unfairness before the battle even began.

---

Despite agreeing to Sabrina's wager and making meticulous preparations, Kazuki couldn't help but feel uncertain as he stood in the challenger's position.

His odds of winning were slim—no more than 30%.

Weeks of grueling training and strategies tailored specifically to counter Sabrina… Would they amount to anything? That was still unclear.

"Aron, I'm counting on you…" Kazuki whispered as he knelt beside his Pokémon.

The Aron nodded resolutely and climbed onto the battlefield. Opposite her stood Sabrina's Mr. Mime, wearing its characteristic clownish grin.

The scene seemed to mirror Kazuki's first challenge—the same Pokémon, the same battlefield. But for both sides, the stakes and feelings were entirely different now.

"Aron, use Iron Head!"

"Mr. Mime, use Confusion" (Telepathic command.)

Sabrina was well aware that Aron had undergone intensive training specifically to resist psychic moves. Mr. Mime's Psychic wasn't as strong as Alakazam's, and on its own, it might not hold Aron back.

However, with Sabrina boosting it with her psychic powers, the mental barrier became nearly impenetrable.

As expected, Aron's silver frame was enveloped in a green Confusion aura. Her iron feet struggled to take even a single step forward, completely restrained by the force bearing down on her.

Yet, in Mr. Mime's laser-focused effort to hold Aron back, it failed to notice the heavy rocks suddenly materializing above its head.

Rock Slide? When did…?

Sabrina's usually composed face flickered with rare confusion. Her command came half a second too late, and the boulders crashed directly onto Mr. Mime's head, drawing a pained cry.

"Well done, Aron! Use Rock Slide again!" Kazuki called out.

"Mr. Mime, watch the air!" (Telepathic command.)

Despite Sabrina's telepathic warning, Mr. Mime looked up to find… nothing. Its confusion was evident as it rubbed its battered head. Then, the ground beneath its feet trembled violently.

Mr. Mime glanced down to see Aron stomping the floor with tremendous force. The seismic energy coursed through the ground, numbing its legs and leaving it momentarily stunned.

Stomping Tantrum? When did Aron learn that move? Sabrina wondered. But then she realized—Kazuki hadn't actually ordered Aron to use Stomping Tantrum.

For the first time as a Gym Leader, Sabrina felt genuine panic. And Kazuki seized the opportunity.

"Aron, Iron Head!"

Sabrina hesitated, unsure of which move to counter. Thinking it must be another feint, she ordered Mr. Mime to remain vigilant for another Rock Slide.

But as Mr. Mime glanced upward again, Aron bolted across the battlefield like a silver comet. Without hesitation, her glowing head slammed directly into Mr. Mime's stomach.

"Miiimeee~~…"

The impact reverberated through Mr. Mime's body. Its eyes rolled back, and with the combined super-effective hit and Aron's already impressive power, it was sent flying backward. The clown Pokémon crashed onto its back, fainted, with swirls in its eyes.

The first victory went to Kazuki.

---

Sabrina stared at Mr. Mime's unconscious body in stunned silence, holding the Pokéball tightly before recalling her defeated Pokémon.

What just happened?

Kazuki's commands had been inconsistent—sometimes real, sometimes fake. Sabrina realized he was deliberately baiting her into making the wrong calls. But how had he coordinated with Aron so perfectly?

---

Sabrina quickly pieced it together. Kazuki always prefixed his fake commands with subtle hints, while his real commands were short and direct.

Having figured out his pattern, she felt her confidence return. Taking out another Pokéball, she released her next Pokémon: Espeon.

As Espeon landed gracefully on the battlefield, Sabrina immediately issued her telepathic command:

"Set up a Reflect barrier."

"Espeee~" Espeon purred softly, the red gem on its forehead glowing brightly as it conjured a transparent, protective wall.

Aron, however, had no intention of letting Espeon complete its setup. She charged forward at full speed, aiming to interrupt the Reflect.

Sabrina's calculations were precise. Based on Aron's speed, the barrier would finish forming just before Aron could reach Espeon. At that moment, she would use Teleport to reposition Espeon.

"Aron, use Pursuit!"

Kazuki's command sounded like the real deal. Sabrina hesitated. Pursuit—which specialized in punishing switching techniques like Teleport—was an unlikely yet plausible choice.

Against her better judgment, she delayed Espeon's Teleport, hoping to minimize the damage before switching out.

But Aron didn't use Pursuit. Instead, she lunged forward, baring her fangs and biting Espeon with Crunch.

Caught completely off guard, Espeon let out a cry of agony as the dark-type move tore into it—a super-effective strike. Its body trembled from the pain, and its face contorted in distress.

Only then, after the damage was done, did the white light of Teleport envelop Espeon, pulling it away.

---

Kazuki clenched his fists in triumph before relaxing slightly. His gambit had paid off. Across the battlefield, Sabrina hugged Little Sabrina tightly, her previously calm demeanor unraveling.

"Kazuki… how do you know what I'm going to do?" Sabrina's voice trembled slightly, uncharacteristically vulnerable.

It was a reasonable question. From the start of the battle, Sabrina's every critical decision had been wrong—almost as if Kazuki could predict her every move.

But there was no way for him to foresee the future. What Sabrina didn't realize was that she had fallen into Kazuki's carefully laid trap from the beginning.

The truth? Aron wasn't following Kazuki's commands at all.

---

Before the battle, Kazuki and Aron had agreed on a strategy: Aron would act entirely on her own instincts, while Kazuki's commands would serve as a decoy to mislead Sabrina.

It wasn't a perfect plan. The lack of control meant relying heavily on Aron's skills and judgment. But Kazuki had known from the start that Sabrina couldn't be beaten like a normal Gym Leader. To stand a chance, he had to fight in a completely unconventional way.

Even Aron's supposed move Pursuit was a bluff—she had never learned it in the first place. Sabrina had been so focused on Kazuki's every word that she couldn't help but fall for it.

Kazuki silently apologized to Sabrina, pulling out Hei's Pokéball from his belt. Despite having the advantage so far, Kazuki knew the hardest part was still ahead.

Sabrina's arms tightened around Little Sabrina as she trembled slightly. A Pokéball, glowing green with psychic energy, floated onto the field.

In a flash of crimson light, Alakazam appeared. Its slender, yellow body stood firm at the center of the battlefield, radiating an unshakable aura of strength.

"Alakazam… we must win. I'm counting on you."

Alakazam sighed softly. She understood what Sabrina feared—it wasn't defeat itself, but the consequences that would follow.

If she lost, Kazuki would be entitled to the Marsh Badge. And if that happened… would Kazuki leave? Would he still have a reason to stay?

Closing her eyes momentarily, Alakazam reopened them with a determined gleam. Across the battlefield, Aron had been swapped out for Mightyena, Hei.

After months spent together, hostility between Alakazam and Hei had long since faded. Now, they faced each other as equals with mutual resolve.

Both had reasons they couldn't afford to lose.

Alakazam sent a telepathic message to Hei:

"I won't hold back."
