My Pokemon Turned into Girls?!

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: No Time to Mourn for Ash—Straight to the Battlefield

"The challenge format is a 3v3 battle. Pokémon substitutions are allowed during the match, but any Pokémon deemed unable to continue or withdrawn voluntarily cannot re-enter the fight. Challenger, do you understand and accept these rules?"

Kazuki stood alone on the sidelines of the battlefield, acting as the referee for this Pokémon battle. His sharp gaze focused on Ash as he gave him one final chance to confirm his readiness.

"Of course! Pikachu and I are definitely going to win!" Ash clenched his fists with determination. Beside him, the yellow electric mouse mimicked him, raising its tiny fists and squeaking confidently:

"Pika-Pika!"

Kazuki's eye twitched ever so slightly. No, I don't think you understand anything at all. Suppressing his thoughts, he raised his hand and brought it down to signal the start of the match.

Unsurprisingly, Ash chose to send out Pikachu. At least, Kazuki thought with a faint sense of relief, this time it wasn't a matchup where Pikachu was at a disadvantage in type. Sabrina, perhaps toying with Ash, sent out a much weaker Kadabra's pre-evolved form, Abra. The scales of victory seemed to tilt slightly in Ash's favor.

Ash, you'd better seize this chance…

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"

Electricity crackled from Pikachu's red cheeks, unleashing a powerful golden current aimed directly at Abra.

"Zzz…"

Did it hit? No. When the burst of electricity lit up the field, all it struck was the empty ground. Abra had vanished entirely. Pikachu tilted its head in confusion, looking around for its opponent, question marks practically spinning above its head.

"Pikachu, snap out of it! Abra's behind you!" Ash shouted.

Startled, Pikachu spun around and launched another Thunderbolt at Abra, now behind it.

But once again, before the attack could land, a flash of white light whisked Abra away with a Teleport. Thunderbolt missed its mark a second time.

Can this even be called a fight? Kazuki wondered, grimacing. This is more like… playing cat and mouse.

Abra wasn't attacking at all—it hadn't even opened its eyes. It lounged on the ground as if asleep, dodging every one of Pikachu's attacks with effortless Teleports.

"Darn it! Pikachu, spread Thunderbolt across the entire battlefield!"

Kazuki's brow furrowed at Ash's sudden command. Thunderbolt was known for its high power and wide range among Electric-type moves, but for such a small Pokémon to cover the entire arena… Was Pikachu even capable of generating enough electricity?

And even if Pikachu succeeded, spreading the attack across such a large area would severely reduce its power. At best, it'd barely tickle the enemy.

Despite his doubts, Kazuki watched as Pikachu's red electrical sacs sparked wildly. To his shock, a blinding burst of electricity shot skyward, forming a massive golden thundercloud that enveloped the entire arena.

What the… Is this really Thunderbolt?! Kazuki's jaw dropped as he stared at the roiling storm above. In the next moment, countless bolts of lightning rained down like a torrential storm.

For the first time, Sabrina's expression turned serious. Her eyes glowed with psychic power, and white light enveloped Abra's small form entirely.

It wasn't just another Teleport. Against this barrage of electrical attacks, there was no safe place to escape to. The dazzling white light… Could it be the glow of evolution?

Under the radiance, Abra's petite body rapidly grew taller, its form elongating. A pair of long yellow whiskers sprouted beneath its nose. The newly evolved Kadabra raised its head, its now-glowing green eyes locking onto the descending lightning.

With a flicker of psychic power, Kadabra redirected the scattered lightning, shaping it into a single raging thunder dragon. The crackling beast roared as it coiled and lunged toward Pikachu.

"Piiii!!" Pikachu's ears twitched in panic as it scampered across the battlefield on all fours, desperately trying to avoid the lightning beast. But under Kadabra's telekinetic control, the dragon chased relentlessly, never letting up.

"Pika-Pika!!"

Ultimately, Pikachu couldn't outrun it. The lightning dragon engulfed its small body, letting Pikachu taste the full force of its own Thunderbolt. Even as an Electric-type resistant to electricity, the sheer magnitude of the attack was overwhelming.

Electricity coursed through its fur, causing every hair to stand on end. Pikachu let out a cry of pain, its voice rising above the crackling storm.

Again, Kadabra didn't let up. It teleported in front of Pikachu still staggering from the attack, its glowing eyes unleashing a beam of multicolored light.

Psybeam.

Though not the most powerful move, Psybeam carried with it an annoying secondary effect—confusion. Unable to recover from the earlier shock, Pikachu's weakened mental defenses allowed the Psybeam to flood its mind with vivid hallucinations.

Dazed, its eyes rolled into spirals as it began to sway. It even started dancing, swinging its arms around with a goofy smile.

"Pikachu, what are you doing?! Why are you dancing all of a sudden?!"

Ash's voice was full of panic, yet he still didn't seem to understand Pikachu's condition. Squinting in frustration, he issued his next command: "Keep fighting, Pikachu! Use Quick Attack!"

"Piii~" Still swaying, Pikachu seemed to register Ash's command. It raised a paw… and punched itself squarely in the face.

Kazuki tilted his head back, unable to bear watching any more. Sabrina, too, grew bored of the match. Using telepathy, she ordered Kadabra to lift Pikachu telekinetically and slam it repeatedly into the ground.

The one-sided fight ended when Ash, unable to bear Pikachu's suffering, finally surrendered. His other Pokémon, intimidated by Kadabra and Sabrina's display of power, refused to battle at all.

Kazuki, who had anticipated this outcome from the start, announced the result as referee:

"The match is over. The challenger has been defeated!"

"Now, big brother and sister need to keep their promise~!" Little Sabrina clapped her hands gleefully.

Three sets of eyes focused on Ash, who cradled his soot-covered Pikachu. Though disheartened by the loss, he agreed readily, completely oblivious to what awaited him and his companions.

Kazuki sighed deeply, knowing what was to come. Sabrina's crimson eyes glowed green…

---

By noon the next day, the atmosphere at the dining table was unbearably heavy.

Little Sabrina, usually cheerful and quick to devour Kazuki's cooking, sat listlessly. Even the big Sabrina, who usually showed no emotion, exuded an oppressive aura.

Both Kazuki's and Sabrina's Pokémon ate silently, too afraid to make a sound.

The cause of this somber mood? The aftermath of yesterday's gym challenge—

After their defeat, Ash and his friends had been shrunken down by Sabrina's psychic powers and placed inside her dollhouse for Little Sabrina's amusement.

At first, everything had seemed normal. Over time, Kazuki had grown familiar with Sabrina's habits: the amount of time she toyed with challengers depended on how much they interested her.

Judging by Sabrina's lack of enthusiasm for Ash and his friends, Kazuki had expected them to be released within a day.

But things took an unexpected turn when the middle-aged man who had previously warned Ash not to challenge the gym suddenly broke into the dollhouse. Taking advantage of a distracted big Sabrina, he teleported Ash and his group out.

While the result seemed the same—lost toys—there was a critical difference. Toys discarded out of boredom were one thing, but toys that escaped on their own? That was unforgivable.

Kazuki ate quietly, occasionally casting worried glances at Sabrina. He had no issues with the man's actions—after all, from his perspective, Little Sabrina's games probably seemed life-threatening.

What Kazuki feared, however, was Ash's recklessness. There was a very real chance he would return to challenge the gym again. And if he lost once more… Kazuki didn't dare imagine how Sabrina would react.

As if in response to his concerns, Sabrina suddenly set down her fork and spoon.

"They're here…" she murmured.

Her psychic field, capable of covering the entire Saffron Gym, had detected several presences—ones that displeased her greatly.

Kazuki sighed, setting down his own utensils and getting up. Without resistance, he allowed her psychic light to envelop him. Familiar with the sensation by now, he watched as his surroundings shifted. His feet landed firmly on a new floor.

"You're back again." Sabrina's voice carried a chilling edge as she faced Ash and his companions across the battlefield. Her Pokéball floated to the arena, releasing Kadabra.

From the moment they stepped into the gym, their choice to back down had been stripped away. The only options left were to face her and create a miracle—or be turned into dolls as punishment for breaking their promise.

Kazuki sighed again at Ash's stubbornly confident expression. Seeing him so full of assurance, as though he'd already won the Marsh Badge, Kazuki couldn't help but wonder where he got his optimism.

He didn't have to wonder for long—Ash soon announced it himself:

"This time I've come fully prepared! I won't lose again, Sabrina! I've captured a Ghost-type Pokémon—Haunter! It's gonna beat you… Go, Haunter!"

A Ghost-type… Kazuki raised an eyebrow, slightly impressed. So he's finally realized the importance of type advantages.

But if type advantage alone was enough to defeat Sabrina, then trainers wouldn't have failed at Saffron Gym in droves.

Still, it was better than nothing. If Haunter could pique Sabrina's interest even slightly, perhaps her punishment wouldn't be as severe.

But… where was Haunter?

Awkward silence filled the room. Overhead, an invisible Haunter's cackling echoed faintly.

"Haunter? Haunter, stop hiding! This isn't the time for pranks!" Ash shouted, growing frantic.

Sabrina's face darkened. Shadows seemed to spread from her as an oppressive aura filled the gym.

"Are you… toying with me again?"

"Haunter… uh, maybe we'll come back next time!" Ash yelped before spinning around and bolting toward the exit. Brock and Misty, alarmed, scrambled after him.

But no one outruns the sky.

Sabrina floated forward with ease, catching up and pointing a single finger.

"Teleport."

In an instant, the middle-aged man from before appeared, grabbing Ash's hand and teleporting them both away.

Brock and Misty weren't so lucky. Before the glowing light of teleportation could envelop them, their bodies began shrinking, transforming into dolls that floated into Sabrina's hands.

Holding the newly made dolls, Sabrina turned her gaze to where Ash had disappeared. She then shifted her eyes to Kazuki, who had followed close behind.

Kazuki froze as he saw the dolls in her hands. Letting out a bitter laugh, he cautiously spoke:

"Sabrina… are you waiting for me to plead on their behalf?"

She looked at him, her emotionless face showing a faint hint of questioning.

"I'm sorry, Sabrina," Kazuki said, bowing his head. "They're my friends. Please, just this once, let them go. Just this once."

Sabrina glanced at the dolls in her hands, then back at Kazuki.

"You may… but," she said, her lips curling in the faintest smirk, "first, you must defeat me. If you lose… you'll stay. With me. Forever."
