My Real Job is Spying on Konoha, but I'm Also its Hokage

Chapter 59: Chapter 60: Let's Build a New Konoha

"What did you wish for?" Tsunade asked casually as she cut the cake.

"Can you say a birthday wish out loud?" Haneul asked, blinking. "Won't it lose its power if you say it?"

"Why can't you say it?" Tsunade handed him the first slice of cake. "I don't believe in that stuff."

"If I tell you, you can't get angry," Haneul said with a hesitant look.

"Why would I be angry?" Tsunade was taken aback, her beautiful eyes fixed on him. "Did you wish for something treasonous?"

"How would I dare?" Haneul quickly shook his head. "I wished for you to become Hokage, Master."

"Hokage?" Tsunade was silent for a few seconds. "Why? Don't you want to be Hokage?"

"I'm too young," Haneul said with a smile. "You can be the Fourth Hokage, and I'll be the Fifth. We'll grow our power, rise to the top, and build a new Konoha."

"Are you trying to get yourself killed, brat?!" Tsunade couldn't help but thump him on the head. "What do you think the Hokage title is? Something you can just have for the asking?"

"I won't talk about myself, but if you wanted to become Hokage, Master, it would be a piece of cake," Haneul said with a serious analysis.

"What do you know?" Tsunade rolled her eyes at him. "I'm not the only candidate. If it came to a competition, there are several other tough opponents."

"But your advantages are the greatest," Haneul said. He knew who she was talking about: Kakashi's father Sakumo Hatake, Orochimaru, Jiraiya, and Minato Namikaze, with Danzo Shimura as a possible dark horse. But none of them could truly compare to Tsunade.

According to the timeline, Sakumo Hatake would take his own life next year. Even if he didn't, his personality wasn't suited for being Hokage. Hiruzen was already beginning to distrust Orochimaru. Jiraiya only wanted to find the Child of Prophecy and had no interest in the position. Minato, despite his heroic performance in the Third Great Ninja War, was still too young. In the original story, his main competitor was Orochimaru, which was why he smoothly became the Fourth Hokage. If he were up against Tsunade, his chances would be much slimmer.

Tsunade's qualifications were simply too numerous: granddaughter of the First Hokage, student of the Third Hokage, the world's strongest medical ninja, and one of the Legendary Sannin. As for Danzo, well, they could all wish him the best of luck with that.

"You little brat," Tsunade smiled, not taking him seriously, assuming he was just flattering her.

"..." Haneul wished he could have a proper strategic discussion with her. I laugh at Hiruzen for his lack of foresight and Danzo for his lack of wisdom. The only true heroes in the world today are you and I! Unfortunately, he was too young to say such things without sounding absurdly arrogant.

"I'm not interested in being Hokage," Tsunade said, shaking her head. "But I support your goal of becoming Hokage. You're still far from ready, though, so you have to keep working hard."

"Yes, ma'am," Haneul didn't press the issue. There was still plenty of time. Besides, the current Tsunade was different from the hemophobic Tsunade of the original story. She would almost certainly participate in the Third Great Ninja War. When that happened, she would accumulate so many achievements that it would be difficult for her not to become Hokage. The ninja whose interests were tied to hers would ensure she was robed in white and gold.

"Are we going to the casino later?" Haneul asked after finishing his cake.

"No. This afternoon, I'll teach you Monstrous Strength," Tsunade said, her voice tinged with the pain of her sacrifice. Although she hadn't agreed to his birthday wish, it had clearly moved her. And since she had given him the First Hokage's necklace, it was time she started training him to become Hokage.

"Okay," Haneul was surprised but certainly didn't refuse. He had been coveting the Monstrous Strength technique for a long time and was excited to finally learn it.

"Let's go," Tsunade stood up and went outside. Haneul followed her to an empty clearing.

"Monstrous Strength is a taijutsu, but it's also a technique for exerting force," Tsunade began her explanation. "Simply put, you gather chakra at a specific point on your body and then release it all at once."

Two hours later, Haneul had a clear understanding of the technique. The principle wasn't difficult; the hard part was gathering the chakra in an instant and generating immense destructive power. This required extremely fine chakra control. Of course, one's physical body couldn't be weak either. A weak body wouldn't be able to withstand the backlash from the technique, turning it into a double-edged sword that injured the user as much as the enemy.

"Let's start with the simplest application: channeling it through your hand," Tsunade said. She held out her hand, slowly clenched it into a fist, and then punched the ground. The earth let out a mournful cry as cracks spread out like a spiderweb, and the entire area caved in, forming a deep crater.

Haneul steadied himself, swallowing hard. He was grateful for all the times Tsunade had held back during their "sparring."

"Your turn," Tsunade said, smiling at his reaction. Now you're scared, huh?

"Mhm." Haneul took a deep breath, channeled his chakra as she had taught him, and threw a punch. The ground trembled slightly, leaving a shallow fist print.

"..." Haneul was speechless.

"It's okay," Tsunade comforted him. "Small is cute, too."

"Again!" Haneul's face darkened with annoyance.

Seeing this, Tsunade laughed even more happily. Having a student was so much fun.

The afternoon passed quickly. Haneul truly appreciated the difficulty of learning Monstrous Strength. But its difficulty was justified by its power.

[A-Rank Ninjutsu Trait: Monstrous Strength]

Activation Condition: Successfully execute the technique.

Current Progress: 0%.

Haneul looked at the newly triggered Trait and let out a long breath. Although he had made no progress, at least the progress bar was there, which meant there was hope. If he could learn Monstrous Strength, it would be his first A-Rank Trait.

"Go take a bath," Tsunade said, looking at his sweat-drenched state.

"Mhm." Haneul walked towards the bathroom, then stopped at the door and turned around. "Why are you following me? Are you going to wash with me?"

"What are you talking about?" Tsunade ruffled his hair vigorously. "I'm putting the herbs in for you."

She turned on the hot water, and once the tub was full, she began adding the medicinal herbs. "Wait two minutes before you get in," she instructed, then turned and left.

Haneul thought it was a pity. He actually wouldn't have minded washing together. Ahem.

After waiting for two minutes, Haneul stepped into the bathtub and immediately felt his fatigue melt away. After his bath, he returned to his room. While drying his hair, he suddenly remembered his training for Lightning Release Chakra Activation. He thought for a moment, held out his hand, and concentrated his Lightning Release chakra as described in the scroll.

The next second, lightning flickered and coursed through his entire body. Haneul's hair stood straight up. He collapsed onto his bed, feeling his limbs go completely numb.

What kind of electro-shock therapy training method is this? Haneul thought, staring up at the familiar ceiling as he began to map out his future plans.

At the Ninja Academy, there was nothing much left to learn in the second year besides the Substitution Jutsu. His main focus would be on mastering Monstrous Strength and Lightning Release Chakra Activation. Beyond that, there was the B-Rank Trait 'Seal-less Healing,' which required learning medical ninjutsu and the Body Flicker Technique.
