My Real Job is Spying on Konoha, but I'm Also its Hokage

Chapter 58: Chapter 59: Tsunade's Birthday

"Haneul!" Kurenai Yuhi asked, pleasantly surprised. "How come you're home so early today?"

"To train with you," Haneul said, patting her head.

"Then let's go!" Kurenai said happily, pulling him by the hand to go outside.

A daughter will always fly the nest, Shinku Yuhi sighed, following them outside.

Haneul and Kurenai formed the Seal of Confrontation and began their spar. Both of them used genjutsu, so while the fight didn't look intense, it was actually extremely dangerous. However, Kurenai was no match for Haneul and was quickly defeated.

"I lost again," Kurenai said, puffing out her cheeks.

"Genjutsu users need to read their opponent's psychology. Don't just open with a genjutsu," Haneul advised, reviewing the spar with her. Although genjutsu had its limitations, it was a deadly weapon against ordinary ninja. If she mastered it, even if she didn't become a top-tier ninja, she would at least have the ability to protect herself.

Haneul looked at Kurenai's serious little face and thought to himself, Should I get her a pair of Sharingan in the future? But then he dismissed the thought. Her ruby-red eyes were so beautiful; there was no need to replace them. He suddenly thought of another method: overwhelming power. More chakra meant stronger ninjutsu. The same applied to genjutsu. If he could find a "chakra battery" for Kurenai, similar to a Tailed Beast, her strength would increase dramatically.

"What are you looking at?" Kurenai subconsciously looked around. "Is something wrong?"

"I was just thinking you've gotten a lot prettier," Haneul said, snapping back to reality with a smile.

"Really?" Kurenai's eyes lit up. "Where?" she asked happily.

"Ahem!" Her father, Shinku, who was standing nearby, couldn't listen anymore and coughed pointedly.

"Dad, if you're not feeling well, you should go back to your room and rest," Kurenai said to him considerately.

"...?" Shinku was covered in question marks. His fists clenched. He shot a fierce glare at Haneul.

"..." Haneul felt he was being wronged. He hadn't said anything!

"Let's continue training," Kurenai said, full of motivation.

"Mhm," Haneul nodded.

Shinku's lip twitched. Seriously? You're just going to ignore me like that? He sighed and went back inside. In the end, he was the third wheel.

A new day began. As instructed by Tsunade, Haneul arrived at her house at exactly eight in the morning and knocked. After waiting for over ten seconds with no response, he was debating whether to use his key when the door opened. It was a sleepy-eyed Tsunade. She was wearing a slip dress for sleep, her shoulders bare and smooth, with a distinct curve beginning at her chest.

"Master," Haneul said, presenting the gift with a smile. "Happy Birthday!"

"Birthday? Whose birthday?" Tsunade was clearly not fully awake and asked subconsciously. She rubbed her eyes, and a few seconds later, it dawned on her that it was her own birthday.

"Thank you," Tsunade said, accepting the gift. She finally understood why Haneul had been acting so strangely yesterday. The little brat was actually very thoughtful.

"I'll go make red bean rice," Haneul said, entering the house and heading for the kitchen. The tradition in the ninja world for birthdays was to eat red bean rice, similar to eating longevity noodles in his past life.

Tsunade's gaze shifted to the gift box, and she opened it. Two gifts? She glanced at the sake set and then picked up the bracelet. It was silver-colored, strung together with pearls and small lock-shaped charms, giving it a simple yet elegant look.

Tsunade was silent for a few moments before putting on the bracelet. She rarely wore any jewelry, except for... she reached up and grasped the necklace around her neck.

Tsunade turned and went back to her room. After changing, she sat down at the dining table to wait. Before long, Haneul brought out the red bean rice.

"When is your birthday?" Tsunade asked.

"I don't know," Haneul replied, shaking his head. This was the truth. He was a war orphan who had been taken in and trained by the Hidden Cloud Village before being chosen as a spy. Things like birthdays were unimportant; he only knew he was seven years old this year.

Tsunade pressed her lips together. Seeing Haneul also eating the red bean rice, she said, "Then today is your birthday, too."

"Alright," Haneul was slightly taken aback but agreed.

The next moment, he felt something warm being pressed into his hand.

"A gift for you," Tsunade said, picking up her chopsticks and taking a bite of rice. "Tastes pretty good."

Haneul stared at the pendant necklace in his hand, lost in thought. Can I refuse this? This was the necklace that was a relic of the First Hokage, something Tsunade treasured deeply. In the original story, she had given it to three people, and all of them had died, earning it the nickname "The Death Necklace." Haneul began to wonder just how tough his fate was.

"You don't like it?" Tsunade asked, looking up at him with a neutral expression.

"I love it!" Haneul nodded quickly. He unfolded the necklace and put it on.

It smells so good. Haneul took a breath and could smell a faint fragrance. The necklace itself had no scent; it was obvious where it came from.

"Take good care of this necklace. Don't lose it," Tsunade said, meeting his eyes with a stern warning.

"I definitely won't," Haneul said. He knew this pendant was more than just a necklace. It was a chakra crystal containing the First Hokage's chakra, capable of suppressing the Nine-Tails' power. But more importantly, it held immense sentimental value for Tsunade. Receiving it meant he had truly earned her recognition. In other words, he could now get away with almost anything in Konoha.

"Master, that bracelet looks great on you," Haneul noticed her wrist and immediately praised it.

"You smooth-talker," Tsunade laughed. "Eat up. We're going to the casino after this."

"Yes, ma'am!" Haneul said with a serious, straight face.

This only made Tsunade laugh more heartily.

After breakfast, the two of them headed to the casino. Tsunade sat at the gambling table and casually pulled Haneul into her lap. Haneul was already used to it. He sat on her lap and leaned back against her soft, cushiony chest. Tsunade paid him no mind, her gaze fixed on the table with a murderous intensity. She was prepared to battle all day!

Haneul watched for a while and then fell asleep. He didn't know how much time had passed, but when he opened his eyes, he found that he was back home. Tsunade's home, that is.

"Is it afternoon already?" Haneul looked out the window at the bright August sun. He got out of bed and went to the living room.

"You're awake?" Tsunade walked from the sofa to the dining table. "Today is our birthday. Come have some cake."

She placed candles on the cake and lit them one by one.

"Make a wish and blow out the candles," Tsunade said, patting his head.

Haneul looked at her, deeply moved, and decided not to complain about her head-patting habit this time. He took a deep breath and blew out the candles. They both clasped their hands, closed their eyes, and made their wishes.
