My Real Job is Spying on Konoha, but I'm Also its Hokage

Chapter 71: Chapter 73: Come Here, Sleep with Me

The next day.

At the breakfast table, Kurenai was sulking. She had just found out that Haneul was leaving on a mission today. That wasn't the main point; the main point was that he would be gone for a week or two, maybe even longer.

"Kurenai," Shinku Yuhi shot a glare at Haneul before forcing a smile at his daughter. "Would you like some milk? I'll pour it for you." "No!" Kurenai turned her head away, giving him no face at all. Shinku's expression froze, at a loss for words.

"Kurenai, this was very sudden. I only found out last night," Haneul said, pouring a glass of milk and handing it to her. "I'll take you with me next time I have the chance." "Really?" Kurenai immediately turned her head, looking at him. "Definitely," Haneul nodded. "I promise." Normally, after graduating from the Academy, ninja were assigned to teams. Haneul was already planning to have Tsunade pull some strings to get Kurenai on his team. As for the third member, he hadn't decided yet. "Mhm!" Kurenai took the milk and took a happy sip.

"..." The ignored Shinku clenched his fists. Damn you, Haneul! You... you'd better take good care of Kurenai! He sighed. What else could he do? He was in despair.

"When you go to the Land of Water, will you see the ocean?" Kurenai asked curiously. "I should," Haneul replied, taking a bite of an egg roll. "Do you like the ocean?" "Not really, I just want to see it," Kurenai said, pushing her glass of milk towards him. "You can have it." "No, thanks," Haneul shook his head. "I can pour my own." "I can't finish it," Kurenai said, a little embarrassed. "Then can I drink it?" Shinku couldn't help but ask. "Dad, you're a grown-up. Why are you still drinking milk?" Kurenai immediately refused. Alright, alright! So that's how it's going to be? The last sliver of hope in his heart finally died. Shinku's world shattered. This daughter was a lost cause.

After breakfast, Haneul and Kurenai left the house. "Remember to come back soon," Kurenai said, her mood low as they were about to part. "I will," Haneul said, patting her head. "Help me explain to Kakashi and the others that I won't be able to train with them for a while." "Mhm," Kurenai nodded. "You should head to school now," Haneul said, retracting his hand. Kurenai lingered, looking back again and again, before finally saying goodbye after a dozen or so seconds. Haneul waved at her, then turned and walked towards the Konoha village gate.

At the gate, the two "gate gods" checked his papers before letting him pass. As a ninja, one couldn't leave the village freely without the Hokage's permission. Haneul didn't go far, waiting for Tsunade. He took the opportunity to observe the two gate guards. They were clearly not Kotetsu Hagane and Izumo Kamizuki from the original story.

"Master, you're late!" Fifteen minutes later, Haneul saw Tsunade and couldn't help but complain. "Being late is a teacher's privilege," Tsunade said, rapping him on the forehead. "Don't be so nosy, brat!" "You're a ninja... mmmph." Before Haneul could finish, Tsunade clamped a hand over his mouth. A faint, fresh scent filled his nostrils. He resisted the urge to bite her.

"During a mission, you must follow your teacher's orders. Understand?" Tsunade asked, removing her hand. "Understood," Haneul's lip twitched. You're bigger, you're right. "Take out the map," Tsunade said with a satisfied smile. "Your first task is to plan a suitable route." "Yes, ma'am," Haneul said, taking out the map he had bought yesterday. The Land of Water was southeast of the Land of Fire and required a boat trip. At a normal ninja's pace, it would take about three or four days. Haneul opened the map and quickly drew a line. "Not bad," Tsunade said after a glance. "You've avoided populated areas without taking a major detour." "I am the top student at the Academy, after all," Haneul smiled, putting the map away. "I can handle small tasks like this." "So what if you're first place?" Tsunade pulled him into a hug, her tone serious. "Outside the village, any overlooked detail can get you killed!"

What kind of body-slamming maneuver is this? Haneul thought, feeling crushed, barely hearing what she said. He realized Tsunade was being much stricter than he had expected. "Yes, Master," he said obediently. "That's more like it," Tsunade said, releasing him. "Let's move out!" She leaped forward, breaking into the classic ninja run. Haneul followed closely behind.

Tsunade matched his pace, not running too fast. During the run, she didn't stay idle, lecturing him on potential traps and how to read the tracks of humans and beasts. This knowledge was taught in the classroom, but not in such detail. Time passed quickly as he listened and ran.

Night fell. The two of them had reached the southeastern side of the Land of Fire, not far from the coast. "Haneul," Tsunade stopped. "Find a place to set up the tent. We'll head to the port tomorrow." "Yes, Master," Haneul activated the 8x scope effect from his 'Ninja Tool Mastery' Trait and quickly found a good spot: a small, hidden grove near a river, with dense foliage and overgrown grass.

He took out the tent, set it up, and then placed simple traps around the perimeter—one, to guard against nocturnal animals, and two, to act as an early warning system. Tsunade watched him silently. She had to admit, his #1 rank at the Academy was well-earned; she couldn't find any major faults in his actions.

"One tent is enough," Tsunade said, stepping inside and looking back at him. "Come in, sleep with me." "Huh?" Haneul froze. Oh no, Master! "I'm not going to eat you," Tsunade said, amused by his reaction. "Then I'm coming in." Haneul entered the tent. "In the wild, the less disturbance you make, the better," Tsunade said, sitting opposite him. "And when you sleep in a sleeping bag, you do it fully clothed, in case of an emergency." "Yes," Haneul thought, What a pity. It was clear Tsunade was being serious. She had been teaching him every step of the way, with such meticulous detail, it was as if she were chewing the food for him before feeding it to him. "Eat and then sleep," Tsunade said, taking out two portions of dry rations. Haneul sighed. The "dry rations" were just pre-made rice balls and sushi. They were nowhere near as good as a hot meal.

After dinner, the sky was completely dark. There were no candles in the tent, and he couldn't see a thing. Tsunade lay down in her sleeping bag, only her head visible. She looked at Haneul and said, "Come here."
