Chapter 1366: Bloodline Upgrades (7)
None of the experienced people around me could answer my question, so I was quick to stand up and summon yet another mirror before brushing my hair aside and revealing the nape of my neck, looking at the spot that the apparition had touched.
Resting on my skin exactly where its finger had poked me was a crystalline blue sigil; it wasn't a rune per se - nor was it a Ritual Circle - but instead it was some sort of symbol that I had never seen before in my life.
It was also a symbol that stuck around in my mind when I stopped focusing on it, so therefore it was unrelated to - or at the very least not as powerful as - the runes used in the bloodline upgrade array or in the Summoning Magic that Leone utilized.
That didn't really help me much though, especially not when I had zero idea on what this was and how it functioned; even when I prodded at it with my mana it just remained dormant, like I wasn't meant to just summon this thing freely.
Was it some sort of charm against powerful attacks, something related to my mental state - only coming around when I was extremely nervous or scared - or was it some sort of ability that I would need to learn how to control just like the crest resting above my womb?
All these questions and not a single strand to tug on in order to figure it out, so I reluctantly removed the mirror and focused on the things I could help, like being rather revealing and how the gazes I was attracting were most certainly not the most appropriate right now.
I also wasn't sure if the enhancements that had been made to me via this bloodline array had done anything at all to my curves, since to me they felt the same... but considering how hard people were staring I had to wonder if I had gone up a size..?
I didn't want to know yet though so I just grabbed my shirt and covered myself again, the heat that warmed up my belly pushing away the comfortable chill that now permeated my body to create an equilibrium that seemed... delicate yet strong.
My body had dropped temperature even more because of the mana flowing through my veins and pathways, but at the same time I was still a living, breathing mortal, so my blood was above freezing temperature...
That didn't mean I was at the 'correct' temperature for most mortals though, and it also made me curious since I was technically now 'cold blooded' even though I was a 'mammal' that very obviously still went through heat.
What sort of interesting and slightly exasperating things I would have to go through now were unknown, but I did know that the heat I felt was a little warmer than before, and I definitely didn't mind the gazes that much...
Did this trigger some sort of cycle prematurely or something..?
I wasn't entirely sure, so I just decided that the best thing for me was to make my way over to the 'safe' zone and join Anput, my very hot mate wrapping her arm around my waist immediately and chuckling as she felt my lower temperature.
"You're a cold~ bitch now, aren't ya~?"
The immediate glare did nothing for her as she grinned at me and pressed her cheek against mine, sharing her warmth and muttering "Good thing I'm such a hot~ bitch myself, hm~?" to assuage the 'anger' I felt.
"Well... that's a sight. So the one gets darker with some red streak in her hair and the other gets paler... with a silver streak. What kinda upgrade is this?"
Of course Lady Fenyras immediately vocalized her 'disappointment' in what had happened, though when Lilith gave her a look she just quieted down and listened to the older Demoness as she mused out loud for the rest of us.
"It would seem that the predominant blood - that of Caninekin - was targeted first and foremost, with some sort of enhancement happening based on your elemental affinity. Matching temperament as well, perhaps?
For the Begum it makes sense; she comes from a long line of Caninekin, so the blood in her veins is most certainly a majority Caninekin, but for our beautiful sadist... well, I suppose it must be the same?
That begs the question of what was actually upgraded, what that apparition was, and why you received something like that while the Begum seems to have drawn the short stick here. Perhaps it awakened some long dormant blood that comes from the 'upper realm'?"
It was fascinating to think about, but considering I was now living it I realized it was less so since I had no idea what it made me, though for the immediate future I suppose I was going to be made to find out and deal with it since there was no going back.
"We have another array... Draka traded hers to us for a future favor, so... Jahi, if you would? This had just reaffirmed my own decision as well; without any knowledge of what I am the idea of some sort of bloodline alteration is just... far too risky. Am I even predominantly Vampire? Without that certainty this is too large of a risk for me to take."
The quick shift to having Jahi be the spotlight was appreciated, since it drew the grey skinned futanari's eyes off of me and gave me some breathing room as I quelled my instincts, though being beside my mate who was clearly having her own biological cycle messed with was definitely not the 'smartest' thing to do.
Not that it mattered since we were likely going to go an take care of that here soon enough, so for now I just enjoyed the heat of Anput beside me while watching as Jahi peeled off her shirt without any argument, revealing her chiseled body and fanning the flames in Anput and I simply by existing.
I so wanted to take a bite out of her incredible eight pack, to drag my tongue up through those defined lines and relish how firm her body was as I crawled over top of her... the things I wanted to do to her were flooding my mind just by her being there on that stool without a shirt on...
Something that she was very aware of thanks to our bond, and as soon as she was certain of what it was she was sensing from me she flashed me a smug, proud grin as she made it clear that I was in for a treat when this was over, as was Anput... and Leone too, of course.
