Chapter 56: Chapter 54: Danzo Must Die!

Haru believed that the arrogance and self-importance of the Uchiha clan were largely due to their genetics.

As long as one parent was from the Uchiha clan, their child would inherit the powerful kekkei genkai of the Sharingan.

In contrast, the Senju clan's genetics weren't as dominant. Aside from Hashirama Senju, no one else had awakened the Wood Release kekkei genkai.

This was why the Senju clan had gradually dwindled in the village, to the point where they played no significant role in the Great Ninja Wars.

The Uchiha, however, were the opposite their genetics were simply too strong.

In fact, the Uchiha clan wasn't entirely opposed to intermarriage with other clans. For example, Izumi Uchiha's father wasn't from the Uchiha clan, and when she returned to live in the Uchiha compound, she wasn't ostracized.

This was enough to prove that the Uchiha clan could accept intermarriage with outsiders.

Haru even suspected that one of the reasons the Uchiha clan had been pushed to the outskirts of the village by the higher-ups was related to this.

Of course, these were just Haru's personal speculations.

After using genjutsu to put Kakashi and the others into a deep sleep, Haru and Itachi took them to the medical room to let them rest.

"If nothing unexpected happens, they probably won't wake up for five days," Haru said casually.

"What exactly is your plan?" Itachi glanced at Kakashi and the others and asked directly.

Outside, Haru had only hinted at it, but due to the public setting, he hadn't elaborated. Instead, he had focused on settling Kakashi and the others.

Most importantly, since Haru could use Shisui's genjutsu, he could also dispel it. But he hadn't done so.

This made Itachi connect the dots to Haru's larger plan.

And after bringing Kakashi here, Haru had confirmed that this place was secure from eavesdropping.

"What do you think was the reason for Shisui's failure?"

"What are you trying to say?" Itachi frowned.

Was Haru suggesting that Shisui had failed because of Danzo's interference?

If that were the case, it would only show how shallow Haru's understanding was.

Even without Danzo, there would have been someone else in the higher-ups.

"Let me put it bluntly. Shisui failed because he was a pawn a pawn planted by the Third Hokage within the Uchiha clan, and a pawn Danzo wanted to use to achieve his own ambitions."

"Shisui was merely trying to navigate the power struggle between the Third Hokage and Danzo, searching for a way to save his clan."

"He thought he could use Kotoamatsukami to rewrite everything, to erase the idea of a coup from his clan's mind. But in reality…"

Haru shook his head at this point. "Danzo didn't care whether the Uchiha clan would stage a coup or not."

"Even if the Uchiha clan remained passive, Danzo would find all sorts of reasons to target them until they were erased from Konoha's history."

"That's why Shisui failed. He was a pawn, not a player. He might have been able to make a brilliant move with his own will, but he couldn't control the entire game."

Itachi stared at Haru, his mind flashing back to the moment of Shisui's suicide and the smile he had given when entrusting everything to Itachi.

If possible, Itachi also wanted to protect his clan, his family, and his younger brother, Sasuke.

But the reality was…

The more he was caught between these three forces, the more powerless he felt to change anything.

The Third Hokage had never come up with a viable solution, Danzo was constantly trying to eliminate the Uchiha clan, and his own clansmen were continuously refining their coup plans.

Moreover, Itachi couldn't bring himself to side with his father. If he had to choose between the two, he felt he would choose Konoha.

But now, Haru had provided him with a new perspective.

If Shisui's path as a pawn was destined to fail, then perhaps it was time to become the player.

If he could enter the core of Konoha's power structure, he might be able to change everything.

'But going from a pawn to a player is easier said than done,' Itachi thought to himself. His mind was as sharp as anyone's, and as he followed Haru's line of reasoning, he realized how daunting it would be.

From the Third Great Ninja War to the night of the Nine-Tails' rampage, the Uchiha clan had indeed produced heroes, but their influence was far from enough. Neither the Third Hokage nor Danzo would allow an Uchiha to enter Konoha's higher echelons.

And without entering the higher echelons, it would be impossible to become a player.

"I will be the Konoha that basks in the sunlight, and you will be the Root buried deep underground."

Haru raised his hand and placed it on Itachi's shoulder.

"In three days, I will accompany the Third Hokage to the Land of Iron as his guard for a meeting with the Raikage. Who do you think will be in charge of the village during that time?"

"Danzo?" Itachi frowned slightly. Although Koharu and Homura were also formidable, he felt Haru was referring to Danzo.

"Exactly," Haru nodded.

Although the Third Hokage had said that Danzo's matter could wait until their return, their agreement was only verbal.

Once both Haru and the Third Hokage left the village, Danzo would likely resurface.

Kakashi, Tenzo, and the other top Anbu fighters were all trapped in Haru's genjutsu.

To put it bluntly, three days from now would be the weakest moment for Konoha's higher-ups.

"Danzo must die."

Haru's voice was low. "Once Danzo is gone, the voices targeting the Uchiha clan within Konoha's higher-ups will diminish."

Hearing Haru's plan, Itachi's eyes widened, and his gaze shifted to Kakashi and Tenzo.

They were the Anbu directly responsible for the Hokage's protection. If the Third Hokage went to the Land of Iron, they would instead guard Danzo.

"It seems you understand, Itachi."

"But don't worry, I won't let you carry out this mission alone. I'll leave a shadow clone to assist you."

Haru's voice was firm.

In truth, this wasn't just about helping Itachi assassinate Danzo.

The reason for leaving a shadow clone was for insurance.

Haru had already confirmed that Danzo had the trump card of Izanagi.

If Itachi made a careless mistake and Danzo rewrote his own death, it would be a serious problem.

To be safe, Haru thought this was the best approach.

And Itachi fully understood Haru's intentions.

He was planning to use this opportunity to eliminate his enemies, then provoke a war between Konoha and Kumogakure to make a name for himself in the ninja world, laying the foundation to become Hokage.

This guy…

"Itachi, I believe the world can be changed, life can start anew, fate can be in our hands, and destiny can be ours to control, not left to the heavens."

"Itachi, will you join me in witnessing this?"

With that, Haru extended his hand to Itachi.

Itachi stared at the man before him, certain of one thing.

This guy…

Was even crazier than Danzo!
