Chapter 700: Maestro

The stadium was alive, pulsating with energy. The air was charged, and electric, and the roar of the crowd was deafening, building with each stride Xavi took.

With a predator's precision, Xavi tore into Atlético Madrid's territory. His movements were fluid yet calculated, each step purposeful. It was as if he were orchestrating a symphony with his feet, and the ball was an extension of his will.

Against Xavi's brilliance, the five-man defense of Atletico was crumbling like a fragile wall of sand beneath a tidal wave.

Twisting his hips, Xavi danced past one defender, then another, leaving them flailing in his wake. His balance was mesmerizing-leaning just enough to sell a feint but springing back into action like a coiled spring.

At this moment, it looked as if he was possessed by some demon.

For most of the match, Xavi had been a shadow of his usual self, struggling to find a foothold. But now? Now he was untouchable, as though a switch had been flipped in his mind, igniting a spark that turned him into an unstoppable force.

The crowd's collective gasp followed him, their eyes glued on him.

Their awe turned into an uproar of cheers. Even the neutral fans couldn't help but admire his brilliance.

"Xavi! Oh, my word, look at him go! He's slicing through Atletico like a hot knife through butter!"

"This is incredible! This is why they call him a maestro! Every step, every touch, perfection!" The commentator's voice cracked with excitement.

As Xavi reached the edge of the box, the defenders were left reeling, scrambling to regroup. But it seemed like it was already too late.

Even after dribbling past multiple opponents he still had three defenders lined up before him. Each positioned vigilantly, their watchful gaze observing every minuscule detail.

Xavi cast a glance before venturing further deeper.

He could spot a few of his teammates. However, he couldn't spot any space to pass the ball. The defenders before him had all the space covered.

'Do I go alone?'

Xavi rolled his eyes, scouting the vicinity.

He was at the edge of the box. However, he wasn't at a favorable position to shoot. The shooting angle was difficult.

He didn't want to blow away this opportunity. Thus, he couldn't help but hesitate.

Even though he boasted impressive shooting range, he was unsure. If he missed here, it could kill their momentum, and he wanted to avoid such a scenario at all cost.

Carlos Gimenez intently stared at Xavi. Though Xavi had ventured into their territory, he couldn't make a decision in rash. He had to be careful about his decision.

'You won't pass from here.'

Carlos's intention was clear. He wanted to stall for time. At this point, he couldn't even afford to jump rashly. Even the tiniest of contact could see them conceding a spot-kick.

Carlos's eyes locked with Xavi as the two faced each other.

'Where?' Carlos tried to predict Xavi's next moves.

However, he couldn't spot anything in his eyes. The more he stared at those orbs of black jade, the more he found himself getting sucked inside it.

He tried reading his bodily cues.

Yet there was only so much he could find from them.

He could palpably feel his heart beating, his blood rustling. One wrong step and he would become the culprit of their loss.

Now that the situation had come to this, he couldn't be satisfied with a mere draw. He wanted to take the victory home.

He could even spot beads of sweat trickling down the forehead of his opponent. He could even tell his opponent's breathing was rather ragged.

While observing his opponent, Carlos suddenly noticed some changes. His heart rate spiked as he found his opponent making his move.

Upon noticing the fluctuation, he reacted almost immediately.

He immediately closed the distance between him and Xavi. Simultaneously, he blocked his opponent's route while at the same time obstructing his opponent from moving forward.

However, Xavi swayed his body and changed his direction midway.

With a deft touch, he changed the direction of the ball.

Carlos panicked upon noticing the sudden shift in his opponent's movement. He had been tricked. He tried to salvage himself. However, while trying to change his direction, he found it extremely hard to swiftly change his direction.

It felt as if his body wouldn't obey him.

His complexion became pale and his expression became frantic as he realized his failure to salvage himself. He had reacted without thinking.

While trying to block Xavi's route inside, he had left the space behind him vacant.

Carlos was aware of the space he had left vacant. Even if his teammate were to cover that space for him, it would take some time.

This realization made him further annoyed.

Alas! There wasn't anything more he could do.

'I'm sorry, guys,' He bit his tongue bitterly, his brows knitting.

Without wasting much effort, Xavi then fired the ball. He struck the ball with the inside of his foot, sending the ball curving to the post.

The shot connected exceptionally. The ball spun as it hovered. However, before it could attain sufficient speed, Hiro's head came flying towards it.

The ball struck Hiro in his head. This changed the course of the ball and the ball went out of bounds. The shot was deflected and an immediate threat was prevented.

"Magnificent defending. Just when did he manage to get there?"

The commentator was left gasping. His eyes were wide open in shock and he couldn't believe

the recovery Hiro had made for his team.

Even though he had lost the possession of the ball, he had recovered the ball.

The crowd breathed a sigh of relief. The knot in their brows released and their expression

eased up.

Hiro, having made a crucial save, slowly picked himself up. On top of sprinting here, he had to

go out of his way to obstruct the shot.

But thankfully, he could make it in time.

Xavi with his eyes wide in daze stared at Hiro, unable to believe what had happened just now. He had managed to dribble the ball past multiple opponents.

However, in the nick of time, Hiro came flying toward him, spilling water on his effort.
