My System has a Glitch

Chapter 27: Meet the family...

William saw a single spark fly out of the damaged mine and knew he wasn't going to risk hanging around here.

"You idiot!"! the mother screamed.

"I'm sorry mama, I'll get him this time."

But before the boy could finish sentence William jumped off the bridge he was standing on. The landmine exploded and tossed him away farther than he had anticipated.

'No I didn't account for the blast!'

The force threw him past any bridge and left him falling towards the pool of snakes.

'Vine! Vines, vines, Where are all the vines?' William kept looking for them as he fell. He could still hear the pair screaming at him.

William spun around in mid air trying to grab onto anything he could but there was nothing. 'No, not like this!' He crashed into the pool of snakes.

[DAMAGE; Snake bite×2 ×10mins]

William kept fighting but more and more snakes crawled all over him and worse he felt his body get hotter as he sank into the pool of snakes.

They slithered past his neck and sent shivers through his spine and he soon realized he was sinking into the mass of snakes.

William pulled in as much strength as he could, maybe he could make it to a tree. There was still time, he could still keep his shield going long enough to make it to safety.

The snakes crawled over his face and his body and he felt every sting of their bite but the shield kept him protected from their venom as it didn't let their fangs penetrate his skin.

To the disbelief of his stalkers, William slowly forced himself on his feet, standing tall on a sinking bed of snakes.

His footing was unstable as it was completely as the snakes slithered underneath and he felt so weak his knees buckled under his own weight.

He felt so light headed, it was a miracle he was still even on his feet. He saw his poisoned hand and gasped, from the tip of the finger and far beyond his wrist had all gone black.

[DAMAGE ×7 ×10mins]

He could feel he was at the final stage of its effects and was certain to die very soon. Suddenly a strange cold clenched his throat and he coughed up a frightening amount of blood.

"No," William gritted his teeth and forced his body to take a step forward. He could still see the tree and it seemed much closer than it really was but he wouldn't see it for long as the damage notices filled his vision.

'No! No! No! Not now, please.'

He was starting to lose the feeling in his legs and the more the feeling drained away the more he pleaded with his body to keep fighting.

But it didn't stop with his legs, his whole body began shutting down. It felt like death was crawling up his body, like death was stretching up past his abdomen and heading straight for his chest.

"Look mama, he's just standing there doing nothing."

"What do you mean he's doing nothing? Can't you see he's playing the game, he's being a sitting duck, I told you he'll come around. Now take the shot before he moves again."

"I thought you said he wouldn't move."

"Just shut up and take the shot."

'Oh god no, not this guy's again, what did I ever do to be at the mercy of idiots?'

William was sweating profusely, he felt so hot and so cold and so nauseous all at once and blinded to the outside world by the damage notices.

Bang!

The boy fired and William heard its impact by his side. He had an already sunken knee deep into the snake pit and was still going down slowly.

"Alright son!* William could hear them talking, it seemed they were much closer to him now. "Just take a deep breath, we're a lot closer now, so it shouldn't be so hard."

"Do you really think I can do it mom?"

"Yes, if you shut up and take the shot."

William had the odd feeling that this was going to be it, he felt like someone blindfolded for an execution.

Then suddenly he heard a loud creaking noise, then the rustling of leaves and numerous sounds he couldn't quite identify. It was a symphony of chaos and he was clueless to it all.

But the reality of it was the tree that had been damaged by the landmine was falling down and its impact shook the whole place and caused the junior to miss.

"Damn it, junior you good for nothing bastard!"

"I'm sorry mama, it wasn't me this time, it was the tree."

"Give me that."

William heard her snatch the rifle out of his hands and he was certain this was it, there were no trees waiting on the side anymore to crash the party.

'If only I could get my stop legs to move,it's a miracle I'm still even standing.'

"Now watch me you blockhead! Here's how you do it, you take aim, take in a deep breath and then you fire."

Bang!

William felt something run through his body like a ghost moved through him, it felt cold and for someone who had been shot a couple times he knew bullets never felt cold.

Suddenly he felt something pulling him. from his back

'Is it the bullet?'

Before he could tell he was out of the pool and flying in mid air, it pulled him so fast his stalkers barely saw what had happened.

But mother had caught a glimpse of it, it was the get away tool, the kite.

it swooped in just before she fired, it went through William's body like a phantom and tethered itself to him and pulled him out in the blink of an eye.

The kite got a lot slower having exhausted all its juice on the swift rescue. She could see him and if she could, she could kill him. She took aim and…..

Bang!

An explosion erupted, it shook the whole jungle but it shook the mother and her child the most as it had been at the base of a tree they were perched on , causing them to fall off.

Lucky enough they found enough vines and bridges to save them from the snakes.

Junior was huge and chubby but mother was young and beautiful, she looked in her early twenties and was clearly amongst those who had been de-aged.

"Someone planned those attacks,"she said with a crazed look in her eyes

"Mama!" Junior screamed and as she turned she saw him getting pulled away by the vine.

"Oh hell rats!" She screamed and scurried away to save her son while William's rescuer laughed.

*******

"I don't like to see you like this birdie," the crazed man said as he stalked her. "You should know I like rare birds like you, they're just great for carving, you know."

Ingrid was still unconscious and dangling upside down from the bridge leaving her at the mercy of the man that had attacked her and put her mission to save William in jeopardy.

He gently placed his hand on her white running shoes. "I've got your shoe!" he said as tried to force it out of the bars then he stopped and said, "it's no fun with you unconscious."

"Hey wake up already, can't you here that, it's the snakes, they're saying they want every bit of you and i can understand that, you see I've got a thing for you too birdie, ever since I laid my eyes on you I became mad, you see, that's why I'm doing these things, just to get you to love me back."

"Thats why I jumped at you, I could have missed, I could have fallen to the snakes but I just had to prove to myself that I truly loved you birdie."

He looked at her as she remained lifeless upside down. Her clothes were falling over her face revealing her well toned belly.

He gushed at the sight of her skin and as he stared at it he felt his whole body getting hotter.

He chuckled and said, "how about it, for old time sake, how about I feel you? Is that okay with you birdie?"

He looked at her like he was waiting for a reply, then he nodded to himself and said, "I'll take that as a yes, oh thank you birdie."

He reached down through a gap in the bridge where one bar had broken off and he began touching her skin, then he decided to go further, he decided to cop a feel.

He reached down as far as he could but his arms were still too short but he kept on trying.

"I sure hope mama doesn't catch me."

Bang!
