Chapter 1241: The Regroup (Part 1)
The two hunters that were with Kim looked at each other in disbelief.
Could there really be someone that had betrayed the Altered hunters? But it was the only explanation that made some sense to them.
After all, they had only booked a hotel room; they had only been in it a few minutes, and it didn't take long for them to arrive either.
Someone had to be watching them from the beginning. At least these were the thoughts running through their heads.
"If that's the case, don't we need to warn Trixie and the others as quickly as possible?" the hunter asked.
"No," Kim replied. "If we inform them on our communicator, then the traitor will get wind of what is going on. We need to clear this hotel, make sure it's all safe, and then head back."
The other hunters weren't too sure about this, but they decided to follow Kim's words; she was, at the end of the day, the experienced one.
As they headed out, they made sure to be ready for any more encounters.
——
At the other hotels, the hunters were coming across the same level of trouble.
They had caused a ruckus to get attention or made it obvious that they were hunters in the hotel.
Sure enough, shortly after, the Werewolves had attacked. Everyone had experienced a similar encounter, and it wasn't the end for Kai and Trixie either.
They had just survived an attack, and Kai had learned something that he couldn't get his head around.
"You said Kim told the two of us to pair up with each other, or she suggested it to you?" Kai asked.
"Yeah," Trixie replied. "It seems she looks out for you more than you think."
Kai was about to ask more and follow up on the question. Something wasn't sitting right with him.
They didn't know each other at all outside the one meeting they had at the Wolf's Pool Club.
If they were going to do this, or if it was part of the plan in some way, then wouldn't they have informed them beforehand?
There was no time, as another individual had rushed into the room.
Trixie was quick with her movements as she rolled to where the man was and had a strange piece of blue wire.
She had ducked under the attack and then used the wire to wrap it around the man's leg. She pulled on it, causing the man to trip.
Instantly, Kai had acted on reflex; as the man's head came down, he shoved his knee up, hitting him right on the chin. A loud crack was heard as it had been broken through.
Right after that, Trixie had pulled out what looked like a baton, but when it extended out, it did so like a singular long needle.
It extended at a fast speed, poking right through the back of the man's head before retracting again.
It was a nifty weapon, that was for sure. Kai could tell it had to be quite sturdy to go through the back of the head so cleanly, but he didn't expect any less from the five-star hunters.
When they exited out of the gym, they could see four men waiting for them, and their bodies were already starting to transform.
"Okay, this might get a little tricky," Trixie said to herself, but she saw that the apprentice was already rushing ahead to one of them.
So she did the same and decided to ignore him. She carefully dodged attacks from side to side, and then with her weapon, she would thrust it forward, and a loud chugging sound would be heard as her needle weapon pointed out, stabbing the Werewolf and coming back to her.
One hit wouldn't take out the Werewolf, though, and she had to be quick about it.
'If I don't hurry up and take these out, there's a good chance the apprentice isn't going to make it… but when I rush, these things just end up taking longer than they would have!'
With two of them, the situation was even trickier for Trixie, but in the end, focusing her weapon to attack their legs and injuring them enough had slowed them down until she could get a clean stab through each of their heads, and she had taken care of both of them.
"And now to help the… apprentice…" she said, her words coming out slowly as she looked at the blonde-haired man.
The other two had already been defeated; he didn't need any help at all.
'I guess his win over Pluto wasn't a fluke. He did say he used his special Qi during the fight, and the apprentice still won; I guess it's true after all,' Trixie claimed.
She came over to see if Kai was okay and could see no visible wounds on him.
"Come on, I think that's everyone. We need to leave the hotel before too much attention is on us."
"I'll warn the others; we'll regroup and head to the garden."
Kai agreed as the two of them used some clothing from their fallen victims to wipe up some blood and started to head down the hallway.
"So… why did Kim… why did she ask for the two of us to work together? What was her reason?" Kai asked.
"I'm assuming she wanted me to see just how skilled you are," Trixie replied. "You know, you need recommendations sometimes from more than just a few hunters to get somewhere in the organisation.
"It seems like she was right as well. I can see you're really impressive."
Right after that, Trixie pulled out her communicator to inform everyone that they had made contact with the enemy and to head back to the petrol station to meet up.
'I wonder… if the others are having just as hard a time as me,' Kai thought, as his head was a muddled mess at the moment.
