Chapter 2: The Past of the Second Reincarnation Period
After reminiscing about his first reincarnated life, Naoki refocused his gaze on the mirror. Suddenly, the three tomoe in his eyes spun rapidly and began to merge, forming a far more intricate pattern.
Now, within his deep crimson eyes, a new design emerged—six curved blades rotating around the center, resembling a shuriken or a spiked wheel.
Mangekyo Sharingan!
"Ugh..."
Feeling a tingling sensation in his eyes, Naoki didn't dare to keep the Mangekyo Sharingan active for too long and quickly deactivated it. After all, every passing second would drain the power of his eyes and could lead to blindness.
To him, the Mangekyo Sharingan was like a battery with a finite charge that couldn't be recharged. Therefore, it couldn't be used recklessly.
"In my second reincarnated life, I was born as an only child. In other words, my Sharingan would never evolve to the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan stage." Naoki muttered softly with a bitter smile.
Then, he couldn't help but recall the period of his second reincarnated life under the name Uchiha Hoshiharu.
Hoshiharu was born into the Uchiha clan. However, at the age of two, his father died in the Second Great Ninja War.
Just like in his first reincarnation, he regained his past memories at the age of 10, coinciding with his graduation from the Konoha Ninja Academy.
After graduating, he was placed in Team 6 alongside Minato and Dekai. The Jonin instructor for Team 6 was one of the Legendary Sannin, the Toad Sage: Jiraiya.
Knowing about the future genocide of the Uchiha clan, Hoshiharu was determined to prevent that tragedy. Thus, he built strong relationships with his teammates, especially Namikaze Minato, the future Fourth Hokage.
Coming from a civilian background, Minato didn't harbor the same prejudices against the Uchiha clan as the Konoha elders, who inherited their hatred from the Uchiha clan's greatest enemy: Tobirama Senju.
As time passed, Hoshiharu became good friends with Minato and Dekai, and even Jiraiya showed no bias against him despite being an Uchiha.
Knowing that the Third Great Ninja War would begin in a few years, Hoshiharu trained hard to avoid an early death on the battlefield. Fortunately, he was blessed with unparalleled talent, just like in his first reincarnation.
He had an affinity for all five elements!
Instead of hiding his talents like most mentally stunted protagonists, Hoshiharu openly displayed his abilities to the public. As a result, he caught the attention of the Uchiha elders, who invested clan resources in him.
Hoshiharu didn't disappoint them. By the age of 11, he had awakened the two-tomoe Sharingan, and by 14, his three-tomoe Sharingan had awakened.
Of course, a Uchiha genius like him attracted the attention of Konoha's higher-ups. Moreover, Danzo sent three Root ninja, each with Jonin-level strength, to bring Hoshiharu to him.
As for Danzo's goal... He wanted to recruit Hoshiharu into his Root organization to control him.
Knowing that Danzo was one of the masterminds behind the future Uchiha genocide, Hoshiharu refused the offer. In the end, he found himself in a fierce battle against the three Root Jonin. Even outnumbered three to one, he showed no weakness. Instead, he dominated the fight and defeated his enemies, then reported the incident to the radical faction of the Uchiha elders.
As for the peaceful faction... Hoshiharu didn't hold much hope for them. He didn't want to simply resign himself to fate and turn a blind eye to the situation.
The radical faction of the Uchiha clan didn't let the matter slide. They went to the Hokage's office and demanded that the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, punish Danzo for abusing his authority.
Not wanting the relationship between the Uchiha clan and Konoha to deteriorate further, Hiruzen temporarily stripped Danzo of his political power, though it was more of a symbolic gesture than a real punishment.
After that incident, Danzo never bothered Hoshiharu again.
Together with Minato and Dekai, Hoshiharu carried out numerous missions, while Jiraiya mostly observed their performance.
Several years passed, and the Third Great Ninja War finally arrived. By then, Hoshiharu and Minato had long been promoted to Jonin, while Dekai remained a Chunin. Regardless, both of them were universally recognized as geniuses by everyone in Konoha.
When Jiraiya led Team 6 into the Third Great Ninja War, they happened to encounter Han and Roshi, the Yonbi and Gobi Jinchuriki from Iwagakure. Moreover, both of them could transform into their Bijuu forms, albeit imperfectly.
Facing two Jinchuriki at once, Team 6 had no choice but to retreat with the help of Minato's Flying Thunder God Technique.
While Minato developed a new ninjutsu inspired by the Bijudama, Hoshiharu was sent to another battlefield due to Danzo's schemes. It seemed that someone wanted him dead in the Third Great Ninja War.
However, not only did he not die, but the battlefield became a stage for him to showcase his prowess to the world!
In the brutal, blood-soaked battlefield, Hoshiharu relied on Thunder Breathing, which granted him speed no slower than the Fourth Raikage in Lightning Release Armor Mode. He slaughtered his enemies before they could even complete their hand seals to use ninjutsu.
It's worth noting that Breathing Styles could rival Demons, which possessed supernatural abilities. Yet, it was merely a sword technique and a breathing method with specific rhythms and patterns that produced extraordinary effects.
So, how powerful would Breathing Styles be when combined with an energy system? For example, chakra.
Hoshiharu proved that the combination of Thunder Breathing and chakra produced astonishing results.
During the Third Great Ninja War, Minato earned the title of "Yellow Flash" and any ninja who encountered him was allowed to flee. Hoshiharu received similar treatment.
Due to his unmatched speed in swordsmanship, he earned the title of "Lightning Sword Saint".
After the Third Great Ninja War ended, Hiruzen stepped down as Hokage to take responsibility for the losses Konoha had suffered.
Both Minato and Hoshiharu were nominated for the next Hokage election. After all, both had achieved remarkable feats during the Third Great Ninja War.
Of course, Minato was elected as the Fourth Hokage, just as in the original story.
Although the Uchiha clan supported him, Hoshiharu didn't have high expectations. He knew an Uchiha would never become Hokage. If that happened, Tobirama might rise from his grave.
Nevertheless, his relationship with Minato didn't sour because of this. Instead, Hoshiharu was appointed as the Fourth Hokage's assistant.
There was no other choice. Even though Hiruzen had stepped down, political power still rested with him and the other senior elders. In short, Minato was merely a puppet Hokage.
Knowing he lacked the political power to influence Konoha's policies, Minato sought to build a good relationship with the Uchiha clan through Hoshiharu.
With Minato's personality and Hoshiharu's desire to change the Uchiha clan's fate, he convinced both the radical and peaceful factions of the Uchiha elders to support Minato.
With the prestige he had gained during the Third Great Ninja War, Hoshiharu successfully made the Uchiha clan a supporter of the Fourth Hokage.
Subsequently, Minato implemented various regulations to benefit the Uchiha clan.
Although the living conditions of the Uchiha clan under the Fourth Hokage's rule were far better than under the Third, Hoshiharu knew it was only temporary.
Previously, he had wanted to save Uchiha Obito and Nohara Rin to prevent the Uchiha genocide. Unfortunately, he failed to change their tragic fate. Danzo had placed him on the most dangerous battlefield, fighting against Kumogakure.
Even after he warned Minato to protect Obito and Rin, nothing changed.
This taught Hoshiharu a bitter lesson: fate couldn't be easily altered. Thus, he feared that Obito, who had turned to darkness, would target the Kyuubi on the day Kushina gave birth.
With his Mangekyo Sharingan's eyes technique, Hoshiharu was confident he could counter Obito's Kamui. He believed his eyes technique was the perfect antithesis to Kamui.
Hoshiharu awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan after witnessing Dekai's death at the hands of Kumogakure ninja during the Third Great Ninja War. Like Fugaku, he chose to keep his Mangekyo Sharingan a secret to avoid further paranoia from Konoha's elders toward the Uchiha clan.
Returning to the main topic, his proposal to join the team protecting Kushina during her childbirth was vehemently opposed by Hiruzen, Danzo, Homura, and Koharu.
They feared Hoshiharu would try to control the Kyuubi when Kushina was at her weakest. Even Minato, as the Fourth Hokage, couldn't persuade them.
In the end, what Hoshiharu feared came to pass. On that night, the Kyuubi suddenly appeared in the village and began its rampage.
Alongside Fugaku and other Uchiha ninja, Hoshiharu wanted to stop the Kyuubi' rampage. However, they were halted by Anbu and ordered by the Third Hokage to stay away from the Kyuubi.
After all, the Sharingan in the Kyuubi' eyes was clearly visible to everyone. Unsurprisingly, this led to suspicions that the Uchiha clan had controlled the Kyuubi.
Thus, Hoshiharu, Fugaku, and the Uchiha ninja could only help evacuate civilians while watching many Konoha ninja die in their attempts to stop the Kyuubi.
The next day, Hoshiharu heard the news that Minato and his wife, Kushina, had died in the Kyuubi' attack.
After the public funeral, Hiruzen resumed his position as the Third Hokage until a new Hokage was appointed. Knowing the future, Hoshiharu didn't believe that nonsense.
Among the Hokage, the Third had the longest reign. If Orochimaru hadn't killed him during the Chunin Exams, the Fifth Hokage would only have taken office after Hiruzen died of old age.
The relationship between the Uchiha clan and Konoha deteriorated again after the Kyuubi' attack. Combined with the slander spread by Danzo, the villagers treated the Uchiha clan poorly, to the point where the clan considered a coup.
In fact, Hoshiharu had tried to influence Itachi and Shisui's mindset to side more with the Uchiha clan than Konoha, but he had to admit that the Will of Fire's indoctrination was terrifying.
His efforts failed completely. Itachi and Shisui leaned more toward Konoha. Shisui even became a spy, reporting the Uchiha clan's movements to Hiruzen.
Realizing that the genocide was unavoidable, Hoshiharu decided to prepare for the worst.
Refusing to die without a fight, Hoshiharu and the radical faction of the Uchiha clan initiated a coup. Of course, the information had already been leaked.
Shisui wanted to use Kotoamatsukami on Hoshiharu to stop the coup, but he was too naive. Before he could act, he was ambushed by dozens of Root ninja, and Danzo even took one of his eyes.
Thus, led by Hoshiharu, the Uchiha clan rebelled. Unfortunately, Konoha was already prepared for the coup.
Over ten thousand Konoha ninja were waiting for them. Although most were only Genin and Chunin, with only a few hundred Jonin, that number was more than enough to face the less than five hundred Uchiha ninja. Moreover, the peaceful faction, led by Fugaku, didn't participate in the rebellion. They had been drugged by Fugaku to make it easier for his loyal son, Itachi, to kill them without resistance.
With his Mangekyo Sharingan, Fugaku had seen the future. He knew that no matter what choice the Uchiha clan made—whether to rebel or not—the end awaiting them was genocide. He and his wife chose not to resist and died at Itachi's hands. In return, the Konoha elders allowed Sasuke to live.
On the other hand, the radical faction was quickly annihilated, with only Hoshiharu remaining.
Facing Hiruzen, who led ten thousand Konoha ninja, Hoshiharu had no choice but to reveal his trump card: the Mangekyo Sharingan!
Using the durability of Susano'o, Hoshiharu soloed Hiruzen and over ten thousand Konoha ninja.
Where was Danzo?
The coward was hiding in the Root headquarters, not daring to participate in the direct fight. He only sent Root ninja to surround Hoshiharu.
Facing Hiruzen in his prime, Hoshiharu showed no weakness. He fought to the last drop of blood.
The battle lasted until sunrise, with over half of the Konoha ninja who participated in the fight dead, and Konoha suffering more damage than during the Kyuubi' attack.
In short, Konoha paid a heavy price to exterminate the Uchiha clan!
Undoubtedly, when Kumogakure, Kirigakure, Sunagakure, and Iwagakure heard that Konoha's vitality had been severely weakened, they wouldn't hesitate to attack the Land of Fire.
Meanwhile, Hoshiharu ran out of chakra after using Susano'o all night, and his eyes went blind. He wasn't a reincarnation of Indra like Madara or Sasuke, so his chakra reserves weren't enough for a three-day, three-night battle like Madara vs Hashirama at the Valley of the End.
In the end, the Lightning Sword Saint: Uchiha Hoshiharu, died due to Konoha's internal conflict rather than an external enemy.
After the news spread throughout the ninja world, Konoha was mocked by the other four great villages for killing one of their own talented individuals. Sadly, Hoshiharu didn't know this. After his death, he reincarnated for the third time in a different world.
"Hatake Sakumo, Uchiha Obito, Uchiha Shisui, Uchiha Itachi, Uchiha Fugaku, Namikaze Minato... Konoha should have been the strongest village with so many talents in their ranks, if not for the internal conflicts."
"If we're talking about unity, then Kumogakure is the best in the ninja world. Unlike Konoha, where every time a talented individual emerges, Danzo tries to either subjugate them or eliminate them to reduce competition for the Hokage position."
Hoshiharu, or now Naoki, sighed in disappointment at Konoha.
"Forget it, it's all in the past. Remembering it only makes me upset. If I could go back, I'd destroy Konoha a second time."
Deactivating his Sharingan, Naoki confirmed that his past powers would return once he turned 18. Tomorrow, he had school, so he decided to sleep.
