Many villagers had started to take an interest in this boy named Hyuga Makoto, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

Inside the Hokage Building, many busy ninja entering the Hokage's office no longer saw the Fourth Hokage Orochimaru but instead were greeted by this young man named Makoto.

Despite having only been in office for a couple of days, Orochimaru was already planning to offload his responsibilities.

Makoto, however, had managed to handle the village's internal affairs with remarkable efficiency.

Whether it was military matters, finances, or civil disputes, Makoto had resolved all the backlog of work Orochimaru had left behind in just two days.

Even the Third Hokage couldn't help but come to meet Makoto in person.

Hiruzen recalled the Hyuga clansman who had lost their Byakugan on the battlefield.

Considering how Hyuga Hiashi's mishap had occurred not long ago, Makoto's rapid rise in status made him deeply suspicious of hidden schemes at play.

The two Hokage advisors also approached Orochimaru, advising him that if he found the administrative work overwhelming, he could consider appointing a secretary or assistant.

However, this position should not be filled by Makoto, who also happened to be the Hyuga clan leader.

Such an unrestricted delegation of power to him could lead to significant problems.

Orochimaru, however, felt that these two old advisors were worrying over nothing.

In his eyes, everything Makoto had was given by him.

Without his intervention, Makoto would have long been branded with the Caged Bird Seal and still enslaved by Hyuga Hiashi.

Makoto couldn't leave him, nor did he have the strength to harbor any rebellious intentions.

He was simply helping Orochimaru handle matters.

The advice from Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu only made Orochimaru irritated, prompting him to consider when he might remove these two from their positions entirely.

Makoto had selected ten young members from his Hyuga clan and assigned them to the Anbu.

Once they became familiar with Anbu operations, they would serve as Orochimaru's personal bodyguard unit within the Anbu.

Of course, all of this was done under Orochimaru's direct orders.

Makoto's ostentatious actions, however, began to attract some discontent.

Danzo had initially believed that with Orochimaru rising to power, disinterested in administrative affairs, and lacking trustworthy people around him, he would inevitably turn to him for help.

This would have allowed Danzo to infiltrate his subordinates into various positions throughout the village.

Yet now, this Hyuga Makoto had completely disrupted Danzo's plans.

Makoto was well aware that there would inevitably be people paying attention to him, but he was completely unafraid.

With Orochimaru as the Hokage, it didn't matter what he did right now.

Suddenly, good news arrived from the frontlines: during a mission, Minato had finally encountered the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

After an intense and ferocious battle, all seven of Kirigakure's legendary blades were captured as spoils of war and sent back to Konoha by Shikaku's men.

This battle dealt a severe blow to Kirigakure, leaving the Kiri-nin reluctant to show themselves again along Konoha's eastern border, effectively pacifying the area.

At the same time, Minato's reputation soared, spreading throughout the Land of Water and striking fear into all who heard his name.

Everything seemed to be moving in a positive direction.

In the evening, as Makoto walked out of the Hokage building, he happened to encounter a group of injured soldiers returning from the frontlines, sitting on a carriage.

His gaze swept over them; each of them was gravely wounded—otherwise, they wouldn't have been sent back to the village.

He suddenly stepped forward and asked, "Are you heading to the hospital?"

The leading ninja, who had just returned from the frontlines, didn't recognize Makoto.

Hearing Makoto's question, he simply nodded in response.

At Konoha Hospital.

Rin finished her work and dragged her exhausted body into the locker room.

After a long and busy day, she could finally take a break.

During wartime, the workload at the hospital was overwhelming.

New severely injured patients arrived every day, and the hospital beds were no longer sufficient.

The village had even built temporary wards next to the hospital and hired numerous doctors from outside the village.

As her shift ended, a coworker left before her, saying goodbye.

Rin was the only one left in the locker room.

She gazed out the window, her thoughts drifting far away, wondering how Kakashi was doing on the frontlines.

Rin stretched her sore shoulders, picked up a water bottle for a sip, and began taking off her uniform.

Suddenly, there was a commotion outside the door.

"Hey, who are you? This is the women's locker room—you can't come in here!"

The noise outside grew louder, and then a figure burst into the room.

"Ah!" Rin gasped in shock, hastily using the uniform she had just taken off to shield herself.

She wasn't entirely exposed, as she was still wearing close-fitting undergarments.

"Y-You… Makoto-kun?"

Makoto walked into the locker room without stopping, striding directly toward her.

Suddenly, he reached out his hand toward her.

Rin heard a scream near her ear and turned her head to see a pale, humanoid monster behind her, its appearance unknown until that very moment.

However, the creature was already pinned by Makoto, who had gripped its neck tightly, instantly ending its life.

The person outside who had tried to stop Makoto from entering saw this scene and let out a terrified cry, which drew the attention of many others who rushed toward the locker room.

With a simple wave of Makoto's hand, the locker room door instantly shut tightly.

He tossed the lifeless creature onto the ground, then turned to Rin and said,

"Get dressed first."

Still shaken, Rin only then remembered her current state.

Her face flushed bright red.

"You... you..."

Makoto turned his back to her.

Rin scrambled to put her clothes back on.

At that moment, the people outside broke down the door and rushed in.

"What is that thing?!"

"Is it human?"

"It's a monster!"

Makoto stared at the lifeless White Zetsu on the ground in silence for a long time.

What was meant to happen eventually came to pass.

The creature had attached itself to one of the injured returning to the village, mimicking the exact chakra of the host to bypass Konoha's sensory barriers.

Makoto's sensory abilities were far more refined.

He noticed a subtle difference in the vibration frequency of the injured ninja's chakra and grew suspicious, following them here.

However, he couldn't be certain what it was until the White Zetsu detached itself from the injured person.

"Makoto-kun?" Rin called out softly from the side.

"Hmm."

"Did you come here specifically to save me just now?"

"Something like that."

Rin let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Makoto-kun."

She then asked, "How did you even notice this thing? I didn't sense anything at all."

"I have some sensory abilities," Makoto replied.

Makoto dispersed the onlookers, reassured the hospital administrator, and summoned the Anbu to deliver the White Zetsu corpse to Orochimaru.

"What was that thing?" Rin couldn't help but ask Makoto again.

"I don't know either," Makoto replied dismissively, clearly preoccupied.

Keeping Rin in the village wasn't entirely safe.

Even with round-the-clock protection, Uchiha Madara would undoubtedly find another way.

He needed to figure out a way to eliminate this threat at its source.

"Thank you, Makoto-kun," Rin said sincerely, expressing her gratitude once more.

"Didn't you already thank me?"

"But you just saved my life," she insisted.

"You've saved me before too. Let's call it even."

"How can you just call something like that even?" Rin couldn't help but laugh.

After a moment of thought, she said, "Let me treat you to a meal."

Makoto simply responded, "Another time."

After leaving the hospital, he didn't return to his clan but went straight to Orochimaru.

There were some ideas he needed to test.
