Chapter 13: Naruto: Check out these scenes! #13

Boruto set the kunai aside and looked at Wuming earnestly. "To be honest, I thought that simply talking to you might change your mind."

He let out a small, self-deprecating chuckle. "I guess that was a bit naive of me."

"Thinking back, we've only known each other for a few days. It's pretty presumptuous of me to say I really understand you."

"We come from entirely different worlds. I was raised in a time of peace, while you grew up during the Warring States Period, born into conflict and used as a weapon."

"The burdens you carry are far heavier and darker than I ever realized."

"We really are in completely different places."

Nanashi let out a sigh of relief, sensing Boruto's acknowledgment that reconciliation seemed impossible. Now, all she needed to do was kick him out.

But then, to her surprise, Boruto's eyes sparkled with determination. "However, that doesn't mean I'll give up on you. If our paths are different..."

"Couldn't we still try to meet somewhere in the middle?"

As Boruto approached, Nanashi hesitated, caught off-guard by his gentle presence. What could she even say?

Boruto pressed on, "I know I don't have enough time to grasp all your emotions, nor can I fully understand your pain. But let's take it one step at a time... let's talk."

"You can share what's burdening your heart, vent your frustrations, and then we can think about what comes next."

"Little by little, let's use happy memories to soften the painful ones."

Nanashi felt a flicker of warmth amidst her hate as she listened. Boruto radiated a sunny disposition that illuminated her dark life of over ten years. If only she had been born in this era, maybe things would have been different.

[Uchiha Sarada: Wow, Boruto really knows how to charm someone!]

[Uzumaki Boruto: I don't even remember doing all this. Stop teasing me!]

[Uzumaki Hinata: Boruto has his father's warmth; he treats others like sunshine.]

[Kukina: Oh, speaking of sunshine, my Minato embodies the sun!]

Oblivious to Nanashi's feelings, Boruto continued, "I'm genuinely glad to have met you through [Ninja Hero]."

"We're no longer strangers, Nanashi... We're friends now!"

Nanashi hesitated at his outstretched hand. Although she despised the ninja world, she didn't feel the same animosity toward Boruto.

"You are just a weapon. Weapons don't get names. From now on, you are Nanashi!"

Then, memories of her suffering at the hands of the Uchiha clan flooded her mind, drowning her in rage.

With a swift motion, she slapped his hand away. "Are you really listening to me? You think replacing my painful memories with happy ones will work? It won't! All I want is to destroy the entire ninja world! Nothing you say will change my wish!"

Her voice rose, nearly a shout. She felt trapped between the desire for revenge and the flickers of hope Boruto had ignited in her heart, but stubbornly clung to her anger.

"Stop lying to yourself," Boruto said softly.

"I'm not lying!" she shot back.

"Oh, yes you are!"

"You're annoying!"

Then, Boruto pressed on. "If you're not lying, then why are you crying right now?"

Nanashi froze, suddenly aware of the warm tears that streamed down her cheeks. Why? Why was she crying? She didn't want to, but the tears flowed nonetheless.

Just then, Merz's voice cut through the chaos. "Nanashi, kill him! Get rid of the one disturbing your peace, and then you can achieve your dream... a world free of ninjas."

The command resonated strongly within Nanashi, pushing her wavering heart back toward revenge.

"Don't listen to him, Nanashi! He's manipulating you!" Boruto urged.

"Shut up! I don't want your noise anymore! It's all your fault! Just... don't disturb my thoughts any longer!"

As she glared at Boruto, he caught the shift in her eyes—her Sharingan transforming into the Mangekyō Sharingan, signaling her readiness to strike.

[Uzumaki Naruto: Oh no, Boruto! Get out of there now!]

[Uzumaki Boruto: Dad, I can't just leave! Even your shouting won't reach me here!]

[Uzumaki Naruto: Huh? Oh—sorry, I got too hyped up.]

[Sarutobi Hiruzen: Looks like Naruto is still the same, carefree as ever.]

[Uzumaki Boruto: Really? Dad at home is... Ouch!]

[Uzumaki Naruto: You don't have anything to say, okay?]

[Uchiha Madara: Mangekyō? I didn't expect such a young girl to awaken it. No wonder she can be wielded as a weapon.]

[Uchiha Izuna: I'm curious to know the extent of her abilities.]

"You know nothing! Don't invade my heart recklessly!" Nanashi screamed, attacking him with wild lunges.

Although she swung her kunai fiercely, Boruto adeptly dodged each strike.

"Yes, that's right—I don't know anything yet. I just learned about your past recently," he acknowledged.

Nanashi kicked him hard, then summoned her powers to hurl a ball of black flames toward him.

But as Boruto was knocked back, he quickly formed hand signs, creating a shadow clone to absorb the Amaterasu attacks. Then, he crafted another clone to leap forward in unison with him.

"I know you're facing immense pressure, and that must really hurt. I get it, I do! So please, share your feelings with me!"

But as Boruto spoke, Nanashi grew more conflicted. The urge for revenge clashed with the warmth Boruto offered—a future that provided more than just bitterness and pain.

Yet, those two futures felt irreconcilable. She couldn't let go of her hatred for the ninja world, nor could she deny the light Boruto represented.

"Shut up!!!"

Nanashi seized Boruto's ankle and forcefully slammed him to the ground, pinning him beneath her. She held the kunai in both hands, ready to stab him.

"Wait..."

As the kunai approached, Boruto instinctively shut his eyes, bracing for the impact. But after several tense seconds, he felt something warm drip onto his face.

Opening his eyes, he found Nanashi above him, tears streaming down her face.

"What's happening to me? Why do you blur the line between pain and joy? Why, even when I want to hate you, does your smile linger in my mind?"

Boruto met her gaze earnestly. "I've told you—I can't fully grasp your pain right now. And while that frustrates me, there's not much I can do about it."

"But I firmly believe that your painful memories can be transformed into something beautiful."

"We could play [Ninja Heroes] together, hang out with friends, or simply enjoy life like you deserve to—we can do all the things you missed!"

"So, can you give me a chance? Just one last shot at showing you the beauty of this ninja world?"

As Boruto's voice softened, Nanashi felt the last remnants of her anger dissolve.

"Boruto... I... sniff!" With a sob, she dropped the kunai, tears cascading down her cheeks.
