Chapter 192: Chapter 190: Departure
Chapter 190: Departure
An hour later.
Akaboshi and the others had all awakened.
With the implantation of the Spiritual Seed, they no longer held any hostility toward Baishi. In fact, they were now utterly loyal, willing to follow his orders without hesitation.
Baishi glanced at the five of them and spoke slowly, "You all have a mission to complete."
"Please instruct us, my lord!" they replied in unison.
Baishi nodded and continued, "Your village has a meteorite. I want you to retrieve it for me within a week."
Without any hesitation, the five of them responded in unison again, "Understood, my lord!"
Satisfied with their response, Baishi waved them off. "Good. Discuss your plans. I'll be leaving now."
Without waiting for a reply, he activated the Flying Thunder God Technique and disappeared.
---
Meanwhile, elsewhere in Hell Valley.
Baishi reappeared in another area of the valley where the poisonous mist was relatively thicker.
Standing amidst the swirling green fog, he looked around to ensure no loose ends remained before resuming his training and evolution.
As for the task he had assigned...
Let them handle it for now.
If they succeeded, great. If not, he could personally step in later. After all, Hoshigakure was just a minor village—not worth his concern.
Still, based on his assessment, Akaboshi and the others had at least a 70% chance of successfully retrieving the meteorite.
"That should be enough," Baishi thought, settling into his new training spot.
---
Five days passed.
Baishi's training was relentless as he sought to push his Toxin Resistance to its limit. Each session brought him closer, and now his system panel displayed:
Toxin Resistance: X (98.7%) → X (99.9%)
"Finally," Baishi exhaled, feeling the culmination of two months' effort.
It had taken substantial time and energy to evolve his Toxin Resistance from level VII to its current peak, but the results were undeniable.
During this period, he hadn't neglected his other abilities. His base attributes had improved, and both Energy Absorption and Natural Energy Affinity saw significant progress.
Notably, his ability to activate Sage Mode had become far more efficient. The time required to absorb natural energy had decreased from two hours to just ninety minutes.
Moreover, in emergencies, he could use his system to accelerate the process, instantly absorbing up to 350 units of natural energy. While this would temporarily overstrain his body, it remained a viable fallback.
Baishi's ultimate goal was to achieve instantaneous Sage Mode activation without limitations, but he understood that such mastery would take time.
Satisfied with his progress, Baishi prepared to check on the mission's progress.
However, before he could act, two familiar presences entered his sensory range.
"Summer and Firefly..." Baishi muttered.
Spreading his Wind Wings, he soared to the canyon's edge.
In the distance, he spotted Summer and Firefly flying toward him. Their battered states were evident even from afar—especially Summer, who seemed unusually fatigued and injured.
"It seems their journey wasn't easy," Baishi remarked, watching their labored approach.
Within minutes, they landed before him. Summer clutched a small object wrapped in cloth, her face pale beneath her mask.
"Mission accomplished, my lord," she said, kneeling as she handed over the package.
Baishi unwrapped it carefully, revealing a glowing purple meteorite. A faint warmth emanated from its surface, accompanied by a subtle prickling sensation against his skin.
"Interesting..." Baishi murmured, holding the meteorite up to inspect it.
The meteorite emitted a faint, otherworldly light, pulsing like a heartbeat. Its radiation was palpable, even to someone with Baishi's resilience.
"Perfect," he said, a rare smile crossing his face.
However, Summer interrupted his thoughts.
"My lord, there are pursuers behind us," she said weakly.
Baishi's gaze shifted to the horizon. Sure enough, a group of figures was approaching rapidly. Leading them was an elderly man wearing a conical hat with the kanji for "Star" emblazoned on it.
"The so-called Star Shadow..." Baishi chuckled.
Despite his amusement, he recognized the situation could escalate if left unchecked. He quickly stored both Summer and Firefly in his space ring, ensuring their safety.
Turning back to the meteorite, Baishi studied it for a moment longer before activating the Flying Thunder God Technique, vanishing from the canyon entirely.
---
Back in the relative safety of a secluded hideout, Baishi finally allowed himself to relax.
Holding the meteorite, he marveled at its potential.
The toxic mists of Hell Valley had done their part in advancing his Toxin Resistance, but this meteorite represented something far greater. With its unique properties, he could explore new avenues of evolution—perhaps even unlock Radiation Resistance or other abilities.
"Now to see what secrets you hold," he said, settling into his research.
As for the remnants of Hoshigakure's forces...
Baishi smirked. "They'll have far bigger problems soon enough."
For now, his focus was on the meteorite and the limitless possibilities it offered.
