"So the saying holds true—'Sharpening the axe won't delay chopping firewood,'" Baishi murmured to himself, gazing at his nearly advanced Cold Resistance.

Without the assistance of Ice Release: Frozen Prison, it would have been impossible to elevate Cold Resistance from Level VI (15.2%) to Level X (99.9%) within just a month and a half. Yet here he stood, having achieved the impossible. The logic was self-evident.

Nonetheless, the potential of this ability was undeniable. With each level gained, the time required for adaptation would decrease. If it ever reached Level X, even the searing heat and pressure of the planet's core would pose no threat.

"This will definitely become a primary development focus," Baishi resolved without hesitation.

Absolute Adaptation joined his Energy Absorption as one of his "core enhancement targets," abilities he prioritized above all others.

Speaking of Energy Absorption, Baishi glanced at its progress—88.1%.

It was on the cusp of advancing to Level III, a thought that both thrilled and concerned him. Once it reached the next level, his ability to absorb natural energy would undergo a qualitative transformation, significantly reducing the time needed to activate Sage Mode.

This would undeniably be a boon for combat and training alike. Theoretically, his evolutionary progress should accelerate as well.

"Now then, which one should I target?"

With the Nine-Tails and Five-Tails already under his control, Baishi began considering his options.

Capturing the One-Tail from Gaara would be relatively easy, but the effort didn't seem worth it. The One-Tail's chakra reserves were limited, and the risk of antagonizing Sunagakure wasn't justified.

The Two-Tails, Three-Tails, Six-Tails, and Eight-Tails were similarly off the table. Engaging Kumogakure or Kirigakure over their Tailed Beasts would invite far too much trouble.

That left the Four-Tails and Seven-Tails.

The Four-Tails' jinchūriki, Rōshi, was known to wander the ninja world as a hermit. In another timeline, this would have been true. However, with the Five-Tails already in Baishi's possession, Iwagakure might have recalled Rōshi to protect their remaining Tailed Beast.

"I could send someone to investigate," Baishi mused. If Rōshi was still wandering, capturing him discreetly would be simple. But if he was holed up in Iwagakure, pursuing him wasn't worth the effort.

That left the Seven-Tails.

Unlike the others, the Seven-Tails belonged to Takigakure, a minor ninja village. Compared to the Five Great Nations, this village posed minimal resistance.

"It's decided then," Baishi concluded. "The Seven-Tails will be my next target."
