Chapter 21: Chapter 6: The Week Before the Storm!

It had been five months since Hitomi joined Yuto and Naruko in training under Guy-sensei. Each day, the training grew harder, pushing them to their limits. But as Guy often said, "Youth flourishes when you break the limits you once thought were unshatterable!" Despite the grueling regimen, Yuto, Naruko, and Hitomi could see the results. Their physical strength had improved, and their chakra reserves had increased by 3%. While 3% might seem insignificant, Guy had emphasized that even a tiny boost in chakra could turn the tide in a ninja battle.

In those five months, their relationship had blossomed too. Gone were the days of constant bickering—at least most of the time. Naruko and Hitomi still fought, but now it was more competitive than antagonistic. In their growing bond, the trio had become known as "The Big 3" in the academy. The nickname wasn't just for show—they dominated every class and ranked consistently at the top, never losing a sparring match to anyone but each other. In their personal rivalry, Hitomi and Naruko were locked in a fierce battle for second place, constantly pushing each other to improve. Yuto, always at the top, quietly fueled the competition by excelling without boasting about it.

But despite these accomplishments, Yuto's mind wasn't on the rankings. He was focused on something far more pressing.

'In a week, it'll be the Uchiha massacre,' Yuto thought grimly. His stomach churned at the thought. His bond with Hitomi had deepened over these months, and he saw her as a close friend, though she would never admit the same. Naruko, ever the prankster, teased them both, but Yuto knew their friendship was one of the most important things he had now.

'I've been preparing myself, but how can I protect her from that nightmare?' he wondered, watching as Hitomi and Naruko bickered again over their latest race. 'Itachi… Obito… even with our training, am I really ready to face something like that?'

Yuto had thought through every possible scenario. His plan was to stick close to Hitomi when the massacre began. Their bond was strong enough that Itachi might spare him, knowing he cared for his sister. The real challenge would be protecting Hitomi from the Tsukuyomi. Yuto couldn't help but shiver at the thought of it—one of the most powerful genjutsu in existence, cast by the world's greatest genjutsu master.

And then there was Obito.

'If Obito shows up, things could spiral out of control fast.' Yuto clenched his fists. He couldn't afford to fail. Not with Hitomi's life at stake.

The thought of Hitomi brought a small smile to his face, though. Over the past few months, Yuto had grown fond of her family. He and Naruko had even visited Hitomi's home a few times. The Uchiha clan was known for being reserved, but Mikoto Uchiha, Hitomi's mother, had welcomed them with open arms. Despite some of the clan members glaring at Naruko, Mikoto treated her like one of her own children. Yuto could see why Naruko was drawn to her. It wasn't just Mikoto's warm personality; she had been best friends with Kushina Uzumaki, Naruko's mother, before the tragedy that left Naruko an orphan.

'She's like a second mother to Naruko, and Naruko doesn't even realize it,' Yuto mused. Naruko, of course, loved Mikoto's cooking and always looked forward to visiting, even if she didn't fully understand the depth of the bond.

'I've gotten closer to her and her family, but… when it happens, can I really protect her from Itachi's Tsukuyomi?' Yuto shuddered at the thought. He had met Itachi a few times during visits to Hitomi's home, and each encounter left him uneasy. Itachi always seemed calm, too calm. And his words were laced with hidden meaning.

"Take care of Hitomi," Itachi had said once, his gaze lingering on Yuto longer than usual. Naruko, oblivious to the gravity of the statement, had brushed it off. But Yuto understood. Itachi knew what was coming. He knew the massacre was imminent and wanted yuto and naruko to be by Hitomi's side to support her.He wanted hitomi to hate him and kill him in the future as his punishment for killing the Uchiha clan, even the innocent Uchiha civilians.

As the academy day dragged on, Yuto glanced at Hitomi, who was now engaged in a heated argument with Naruko about their race. The rest of the class, including Iruka-sensei, had long since tuned out their constant bickering, as it had become a daily occurrence.

'They're really like siblings sometimes,' Yuto thought, a small smile playing on his lips. Despite the tension surrounding him, he couldn't help but feel grateful for moments like these. 'I'm lucky to have them.'

He grabbed his bag and started toward the door, his mind still preoccupied with thoughts of the massacre.

On his way out, however, he bumped into someone—Hitomi.

"Watch where you're going!" she huffed, rubbing her shoulder from the impact.

Yuto blinked in surprise. "Hitomi? What are you doing here?"

Hitomi crossed her arms and gave him an irritated look. "I should be asking you that. We're supposed to meet Guy-sensei for training, remember?"

"Oh, right," Yuto said, realizing he had gotten lost in his thoughts. "Sorry, I was... distracted."

"Distracted?" Hitomi echoed, raising an eyebrow. "By what?"

Yuto hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say. 'I can't exactly tell her about the mission...'

"Nothing important," he said quickly, brushing it off. "Let's just head to the training grounds. Naruko's probably already there."

Hitomi stared at him for a second longer, as if sensing something was off, but eventually shrugged. "Whatever. Let's go."

Together, they made their way to the training grounds, the air between them quiet yet comfortable. Yuto couldn't shake the feeling that time was running out. He glanced at Hitomi from the corner of his eye, watching as she walked with her usual confident stride.

'I've got to protect her,' he reminded himself again. 'No matter what happens, I won't let her get caught in that nightmare.'

When they finally reached the training grounds, the familiar sight of Naruko waiting impatiently greeted them. Guy-sensei was there too, his usual boisterous energy filling the area.

"Ah! There you are, my youthful students!" Guy called out, flashing them his signature smile. "Today, we will push the boundaries of youth even further!"

Hitomi groaned audibly. "Great, another day of Guy-sensei's crazy training."

Naruko, ever the competitor, grinned. "Bring it on! I'm not losing to you again, Hitomi!"

Yuto chuckled softly, feeling a strange sense of normalcy wash over him, despite the looming disaster. For now, they would train. And for now, they were together. But Yuto knew that soon, everything would change, As this was just the calm before the storm.
