The next day, in the Hokage's office.

"Hokage-sama, Chunin Uchiha Aozora reporting for duty!"

Uchiha Aozora looked at Hiruzen Sarutobi sitting at his desk handling documents.

His Hokage hat was resting on the table. His head had already turned quite white. Though his back was still straight, he no longer had the proud vigor of his youth.

After signing the document and closing the file, Hiruzen lifted his head to examine Aozora.

"It seems you've made your choice. Anbu or somewhere else?"

Aozora didn't beat around the bush and replied directly, "Hokage-sama, I prefer to join the Konoha Police Force. I want to contribute to Konoha and help protect our village's peace."

With firm conviction in his voice, Aozora answered. Hiruzen responded with a solemn tone:

"Very good. The Police Force needs Uchihas like you who understand their responsibilities. I believe you will adapt quickly there and make outstanding contributions to our village.

Wherever the leaves dance, fire burns. That flame lights up the village, and from its warmth, new leaves will sprout once more.

Remember this—no matter where you are, you are always part of Konoha.

Alright, go report to the Police Force."

Aozora bowed respectfully. "Yes, Hokage-sama."

As Aozora left the office, Hiruzen took a puff of his pipe and said slowly, "Danzo, Uchiha Aozora is now under your watch. Make sure to keep an eye on him."

Unnoticed until now, from a shadowed corner of the room emerged a figure wearing a kimono half black and half white.

"Yes, I'll be watching him closely."

Looking again, the shadows were gone, as was the person within them.

After leaving Hokage Tower, Aozora made his way toward the remote Police Headquarters, holding his official documents.

Walking through the streets, Aozora soon spotted an oddly adorable building.

From afar, the entire structure was yellowish-brown, resembling the head of a cute, round-faced yellow cat.

Two circular blue glass windows on either side looked like the cat's eyes, the protruding middle section resembled a long nose, while the entrance below appeared like the cat's mouth.

Despite looking a bit run-down, the Konoha Police Building somehow managed to look cute and whimsical.

Although the architecture felt playful, stepping inside brought a sudden feeling of oppression.

The shinobi manning the front desk wore dark green vests and all wore identically cold, indifferent expressions, as if they were attending a funeral.

Each face seemed to say, "Don't bother me. Even if you do, I won't help," their gazes cold and distant.

This didn't surprise Aozora in the least—he even found it understandable.

Police ranks were limited: only one Chief, two Deputy Chiefs, six Captains, and their respective Lieutenants existed across the entire force—a total of fifteen people.

Meanwhile, there were easily twenty to thirty jonin-level shinobi like Hikaku Uchiha alone. Positions simply weren't enough to go around.

Some Jonins had no choice but to patrol the streets with squads, while others stood guard right inside the Police Headquarters.

At minimum, each post was held by a Chunin-ranked officer, but most were filled by Special Jonin or even full-fledged Jonin.

They were clearly overqualified for these menial duties—but asking them to bow and smile at civilians? Totally out of the question.

After wandering around the first floor lobby briefly, Aozora thoughtfully made his way upstairs.

Reaching the third floor, Aozora knocked on the Chief's office door and announced, "Chief, Uchiha Aozora reporting for duty!"

"Come in!"

Aozora stepped into the office. He quickly scanned the room and took in everyone inside.

The office was quite neat and spacious, containing only a few filing cabinets, one large desk, and one smaller desk.

The large desk clearly belonged to Fugaku. At the smaller desk sat a boy from the Uchiha clan, about fifteen or sixteen years old.

Fugaku looked up at Aozora and said, "Aozora, you're finally here! Did the Hokage hold you up?"

As he spoke, he returned his attention to the paperwork.

His eyebrows were knitted together as he examined the documents—clearly troubled by something.

"Nope," Aozora replied. "The Hokage let me go right away!"

Though curious, Aozora didn't ask what problem Fugaku was facing.

Without even lifting his eyes this time, Fugaku said, "Aozora, go with Kyudai to file these documents."

The Uchiha boy at the smaller desk stood up right away when he heard that.

"Follow me!"

His hair was slightly brownish, and between his brows radiated youthful confidence. Yet his tone toward Aozora was distinctly cold.

Aozora didn't mind; he simply grabbed the folder and followed.

When they reached the second floor, Aozora entered the archive room behind him.

As soon as they stepped inside, the middle-aged man behind the desk smiled and greeted them: "Kyudai, what can I do for you today, young man?"

Kyudai actually broke into a bright smile and said, "Uncle Kaizan, I brought him along to file some documents."

Aozora gave Kyudai a surprised look before handing the folder to Uncle Kaizan.

After finishing the paperwork, the two exited the archive room together.

He thought Kyudai was just another aloof teenager, but now realized it was only toward him that Kyudai acted this way.

As soon as they stepped outside, Aozora asked, "Kyudai, did I offend you somehow?"

"No."

"No? Then why are you so cold to me then?"

"I'm always like this with everyone."

"You're talking nonsense. You were all smiles with Uncle Kaizan just now!"

Kyudai didn't respond.

It wasn't long before they reached the Police Force headquarters.

Upon entering, Aozora directly said, "Clan Head, if there's nothing else, I'll be leaving first."

Fugaku didn't attempt to stop him, merely glancing up. "Alright."

After Aozora left, Uchiha Kyudai protested, "Clan Head, if you don't need that Uchiha Aozora, why even recruit him as your assistant? Isn't having me enough?"

Distracted by his troubles with the paperwork, Fugaku had no interest in dealing with Kyudai and casually responded, "There are things Aozora can handle that you cannot."

Only after speaking did he realize this might have hurt Kyudai, so he added, "Of course, you also possess unique talents."

Flipping through the documents, Fugaku said, "Kyudai, go call Inabi to my office."

"Yes, right away."

Motivated anew, Kyudai sprang into action and vanished from the office using [Body Flicker Technique].

Looking in the direction Kyudai had vanished, Fugaku remarked, "This kid may be fast when it comes to delivering messages and calling people. Quite a capable skill indeed!"

After purchasing carnations at Yamanaka's flower shop, Aozora made his way toward Konoha Hospital.

Along the way, seeing some snacks and street food stalls, he paused and bought two servings of takoyaki and tempura.

Sure enough, Aya didn't even glance at the flowers.

Sniffing the air, she turned her gaze toward the snack in Aozora's hand.

Aozora handed it to her and asked, "How are you recovering? Are there any dietary restrictions with this?"

Aya didn't bother responding and dove right into the snack.

After finishing every last bite, she licked her fingers clean and asked eagerly, "Any more?"

Aozora shook her head. "They're just snacks. How many could I prepare?"

Aya's eyes dulled for a second, but then she bounced back with her usual energy.

"Aozora, you really understand me. Jifeng actually only brought flowers! What use are flowers? They're so strong they irritate my nose!"

"Aozora, never thought I'd make it too—our Team Three has all advanced together!"

"..."

They chatted for a bit—with Aya doing most of the talking.

After a while, Aozora said, "I need to go home now. Focus on healing properly and get discharged soon!"

"Okay!"

As Aozora nearly stepped out the door, Aya suddenly called out, "Once I'm discharged, will Team Three still take missions together?"

Hearing that, Aozora hesitated for a beat, then kept walking.

"I've joined the Police Department."
