Naruto: Get Stronger by Spoiling My Sister

Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Danzō-Your Life Ends Here

"Heh. That risk… I'm willing to take," Danzō scoffed, his voice brimming with disdain. Compared to the secrets hidden within Neji, a little danger was barely worth mentioning.

If he could uncover the truth behind Neji's Mokuton abilities, he would be one step closer to his ultimate goal. And when that day came, even if his past were to be exposed, he wouldn't care in the slightest.

"Enough. It's time for you to yield to me." A glint of satisfaction flickered in Danzō's eyes, completely oblivious to the subtle changes in Neji's demeanor.

"Danzō, do you know why you keep failing?" Neji's sudden, cold chuckle pierced the silence.

"What?" Danzō narrowed his eyes, curious.

"You cling to your life, yet you're arrogant. You could've ended me with a single strike or taken control directly, but instead, you waste time with these pointless speeches." Neji's voice was calm, composed imbued with a sense of complete control.

"Hmph!" Danzō snapped. "Say what you want. It won't change the fact that you'll soon belong to me."

"You still haven't realized it, have you? Danzō, you're not dying in vain." Neji's chuckle deepened as the binding seals around his body visibly began to dissolve. Bit by bit, his mobility returned.

"What? He can undo the Binding Curse Seal?!" Panic surged through Danzō. Without another word, he gave a flick of his wrist. A kunai dropped from his sleeve, ready in his hand.

He needed to kill Neji before the boy fully broke free. He couldn't afford the risk. Not now.

Neji sneered at him with thinly veiled contempt. That was Danzō all over cowardly and self-serving. When he fought Sasuke, he kept Izanagi active the whole time, terrified of death. And yet, in the end, he still died.

Ten chances at resurrection. Eleven lives. And still, this so-called seasoned Kage-level shinobi couldn't take down Sasuke?

Pathetic.

Neji's palm lit up, a blue lion's head roaring to life, and he drove it straight toward Danzō's vital point.

"This ends now!" Danzō raised his kunai and slashed toward Neji.

Squelch!

Blood burst like a geyser. A severed arm spun through the air, twisting in a gruesome arc before crashing to the ground. Droplets of blood scattered, painting the full moon above a sinister shade of crimson.

Danzō stood there, his killing intent thick in the air, his face splashed with blood. The pristine white of his bandages turned a deep, lurid red.

"I'll be taking your blood as well," he muttered, straightening as he stared at Neji, whose right arm now lay severed on the ground.

A soft smile tugged at Danzō's lips. That arm was all he needed.

"Neji!" someone screamed. A group of figures sprinted toward him.

"Danzō! What do you think you're doing?!"

Even Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado looked furious. Normally, they would never confront Danzō over a mere youth, but these were troubled times for Konoha. The village couldn't afford to lose any more of its rising stars. Danzō's actions were sabotaging Konoha's future.

"He tried to attack me. I was simply defending myself," Danzō replied, unfazed by the elders' anger. He remained calm, indifferent.

In his mind, Neji was a crippled genius at best, while he was a seasoned, battle-hardened leader. Surely they knew which side to choose.

Besides, he was one of Konoha's senior leaders. Why should he answer to anyone?

"Sarutobi, you were always too soft. That's why Konoha has fallen so far," Danzō thought. "Once I become Hokage, the Elder Council will either obey me or be disbanded."

What Konoha needed was obedience, not debate.

"This..." Koharu and Homura hesitated. They were clearly furious, but neither said more. In the end, it was always about self-interest. No matter where you went, power dictated choice. They wouldn't go against Danzō for a one-armed boy.

"Heh. Are you all betraying Konoha over a rogue ninja?" Danzō's voice rang out, cold and condescending. Everyone froze at his words.

"Danzō, don't push it!"

"Hmph! Look at the ruins beneath your feet. This is his doing. He slaughtered Root operatives and threw Konoha into chaos. He must die!" Danzō's cloudy eyes gleamed with a sinister light. His words dripped with menace, like something out of the underworld.

"Danzō!"

"Hiashi Hyuga. Are you planning to turn the Hyuga Clan against the village?"

"You!" Hiashi trembled with fury. The stoic expression he always wore cracked, revealing rare emotion.

"Danzō, I told you. You'd let your guard down."

Neji's voice rang out again. His face was pale, drained of blood, and though he'd managed to break free from the seal, he'd lost an arm. It was a crippling blow for any ninja. Yet Neji simply spat the blood from his lips and sneered, utterly unbothered.

His resilience drew admiration from some onlookers, but it was quickly followed by sorrow. A talent like his, now ruined? What a tragedy.

Neji said nothing more. It didn't bother him that others misunderstood. But why why was even Tsunade wearing that mournful look, as if he were a fallen prodigy?

He understood her intention moments later. Tsunade's expression caused Danzō to drop his guard even further.

Hey, hey. Was it really okay to bait him like that? He's still technically one of Konoha's top officials, you know.

"Hmph. Neji Hyuga. Based on your actions, I now officially declare you a rogue ninja. Prepare to die!" Danzō's voice boomed.

Neji nearly burst out laughing. This old bastard really had no shame. So desperate to kill him that he wouldn't even allow a chance to speak in his defense.

Not that he would've explained himself anyway. But Danzō's hypocrisy still rubbed him the wrong way.

There was no more time to think. Danzō had drawn another kunai, this one infused with Wind Release chakra, transforming it into a blade as sharp as any sword.

"Earth Release: Petrification!"

Neji's body turned to stone, forming a thick layer of armor across his limbs. He looked like a warrior carved from bedrock strange and imposing. Without dodging, he charged directly at Danzō, stone fists swinging.

But the outcome was inevitable. Wind trumps Earth. The enhanced kunai sliced clean through him.

With a harsh rip, the blade carved from Neji's right shoulder to his thigh. The stone armor shattered, and blood gushed freely, staining the battlefield.

"Your life ends here."

Danzō raised the kunai with both hands and drove it toward Neji's head.

"You may have survived my first strike," Neji's voice rang out across the field, "but you won't survive the second."

The moment the words left his mouth, a white silhouette burst forth from within him. Without hesitation, it slashed down at Danzō with deadly precision.
