Chapter 132: Daimyo
One thing about Uzushiogakure, it was hidden from the rest of the world because it was located on a small island near the Land of Fire.
The land was an autonomous region, more accurately where the Uzumaki clan had the right to rule by themselves, the only place not controlled by a Daimyo or noble. Originally, it was inhabited solely by the Uzumaki clan and protected by a natural barrier—a whirlpool.
Even during the Warring States Era, the average life expectancy of most people living in Uzushiogakure was over 40 years.
In the original story, the destruction of the Uzumaki clan was orchestrated by four other villages and the Daimyo.
The reason? The Uzumaki clan didn't show respect toward nobles or the Daimyo and they also possess sealing jutsu that could trap the kyuubi. Setsuna didn't understand how Uzushiogakure could have been destroyed, as the whirlpool had existed long before the Uzumaki clan acting as the most powerful barrier.
The Uzumaki clan only shared their fuinjutsu with Konoha because they were allies, showing them how to enter Uzushiogakure without being sucked into the whirlpool.
Even with great chakra control, it was estimated that if 100 people tried to enter the island, only 5 would survive, while the others would perish.
It required a tremendous amount of mana to control the chakra on the sea waves and there were also dangers from the large waves themselves.
That's why Setsuna wanted to know who leaked the fuinjutsu—was it Black Zetsu?
Setsuna didn't want to blame innocent people, even someone like Danzo. So, he decided to wait patiently until the other villages attacked Uzushiogakure.
To find out who was the one that truly leaked the secret of Uzushiogakure.
---Fire Daimyo Ruthlessness---
He was not originally in the line of succession, but due to his uncle's actions, he was chosen by Konoha, with the approval of Senju Hashirama, to become the next Daimyo.
Hashirama was the one who decided to maintain the power of the Daimyo. Without his permission, the Daimyo would have lost their authority. The other villages were not strong enough to challenge the Daimyo and his army.
If one clan decided to rebel, the Daimyo could simply hire another ninja clan to massacre the rebellious clan.
For example, in the case of the Chinoike Clan, the late wife of the Daimyo wanted to eliminate the clan's members.
At first, the Chinoike Clan was winning the war due to their powerful dojutsu. The enemy couldn't even fight them, as they were easily caught in genjutsu. This left only the Senju and Uchiha clans capable of fighting the Chinoike Clan. However, the Senju refused to participate in the war because they had never fought the Chinoike Clan and didn't want to risk making a new enemy.
The Uchiha Clan, on the other hand, accepted the task and managed to drive them out to the Valley of Hell. The Sharingan proved to be more powerful than the Ketsuryugan. Eventhough they didn't kill Chinoike Clan but the late wife daimyo still give them a reward money.
Fortunately, the Chinoike Clan was saved by Uchiha Setsuna.
The real reason why Konoha chose the current Daimyo was because of his innocent appearance. He seemed kind, but behind closed doors, he was a psychopath who enjoyed watching others suffer and also pervert.
Setsuna had long noticed the current Fire Daimyo's ruthlessness. His first act was to bring as many orphans as possible to Uzushiogakure. His mission was highly successful because it became rare to see an orphan or beggar on the streets.
Sarutobi Hiruzen took pride in this, believing it was due to his good governance that the land had become so safe and orphans had seemingly disappeared.
The second group of people Setsuna brought to Uzushiogakure were those with beautiful appearances, as the current Daimyo was known for his lust. Setsuna didn't want to see these poor women become the playthings of the Daimyo and other nobles. In the future, he even accidentally brought Yakushi Nono to Uzushiogakure.
At first, the Uzukage opposed Setsuna's plan, because Uzushiogakure was small and he feared they couldn't feed all the orphans and women.
Fortunately, with gadgets from the Doraemon world, he always had more than enough food to feed the whole villages. Now it was easy to eat meat because Setsuna are selling it cheaper in restaurant.
The Uzukage felt he was the luckiest father-in-law, having secured the most capable man as his son-in-law.
---Sunagakure---
After Kazekage Reto died during the First Great Ninja War, the situation in Sunagakure was not looking good.
There was infighting, and as a result, the people decided to vote for the next leader to rule Sunagakure. The majority voted for Shamon to become the next Kazekage because he was the second most powerful shinobi in the village. Shamon, determined not to repeat Reto's mistake, chose to end the war early.
Some agreed with Shamon's decision, as they had loved ones waiting for them at home. However, there were also people who considered Shamon weak.
Over time, this dissent grew stronger, with more people becoming dissatisfied with Shamon's leadership. There were several reasons why some shinobi became rebellious under his rule, and the first was food.
Sunagakure, being a land full of sand, struggled to grow crops due to its extreme heat. As a result, only a few merchants visited the village each year.
For the past two years, Setsuna had quietly sent merchants to Sunagakure to help. Despite having killed in battle, he still felt sorrow when seeing children go hungry, with some even dying of starvation.
Dying in cold weather with an empty stomach is a terrifying experience, even for seasoned shinobi.
There was a reason why Setsuna wanted to help Sunagakure. The first was that Shamon, not being a Kekkei Genkai user, couldn't use the Magnet Style to extract metal ore. Without Rasa to mine gold from the desert, Sunagakure was facing a critical time.
Even though the situation had improved significantly, Setsuna faced limitations on how often he could send merchants to Sunagakure. It simply wasn't enough, and amid the growing voices of rebellion, Kazekage Shamon suddenly went missing.
