Chapter 23: Chapter 23
Ignoring Neji's behavior, Hiashi Hyūga concentrated entirely on rescuing his brother Hizashi. As the saying goes, only after losing something do you learn to cherish it. Having experienced Hizashi's death, Hiashi's previously suppressed affection for his younger brother had finally surfaced.
Sakura and the Third Hokage also flew down from the wall. The pink cloud beneath the Third's feet left Neji momentarily stunned, and he began eyeing the elderly Hokage strangely.
"Sakura," the Third said, clearing his throat slightly, "let's hurry and save him." Ignoring Neji's gaze, he secretly thought pink might indeed be a bit flashy, but flying without having to walk was simply too enjoyable—color choice could wait.
"Mhm."
Entering the house behind Hiashi, Sakura let out a sigh of relief. Fortunately, they had arrived just in time; Hizashi's soul hadn't completely returned to the underworld yet, so there was still hope of saving him.
"Uncle Hiashi, close the door so nobody gets attracted by the commotion later!"
After giving that instruction, Sakura walked toward Hizashi's corpse. She couldn't help but admit—the resemblance between Hizashi and Hiashi was uncanny. No wonder the elders of the Hyūga clan had considered making Hizashi the sacrifice instead of Hiashi.
Neji stood beside his mother, curiously watching Sakura, confused as to why they had come to look at his father Hizashi's body.
"Sakura, how is it? Is there any chance of saving him?" the Third asked.
"Fortunately, his soul hasn't been entirely taken by the underworld yet—it's still possible to bring him back!"
Taking a deep breath, Sakura activated the Time Stone. First, she restored Hizashi's physical body to its original, undamaged state before preparing to pull his soul back.
"Soul? But Sakura, can't you just reverse time directly? He just died not long ago—you could rewind his time and everything would be fine, right?!" the Third questioned, puzzled. With no outsiders around and knowing Hiashi was loyal to the Hokage faction, along with Hizashi's wife and child being trustworthy, the Third decided not to hold anything back. More importantly, he wanted to take this opportunity to demonstrate Sakura's significance to Hiashi. As long as Hiashi wasn't foolish, he would understand the importance of fostering a good relationship between his daughter and Sakura. Eventually, through such connections with the Hyūga clan, Sakura's relationship with the Hokage faction would naturally grow even stronger.
"It wouldn't work!" Sakura shook her head and explained. "The reason someone lives isn't only because of their physical body—but also due to the cooperation of the soul. Without a soul, the body becomes nothing more than an empty shell. If Uncle Hizashi's soul has already been drawn to the Pure Land of the underworld, even if I reversed his body's time, he still wouldn't return to life!"
As she spoke, an orange glow began shimmering in Sakura's eyes. It started faintly but soon engulfed both of her irises, turning her eyes fully orange, replacing the familiar green entirely.
Instinctively stepping backward, the Third and Hiashi felt their very souls trembling under the pressure radiating from Sakura's presence.
[Soul Force Space]
Above Hizashi Hyuga's body, an invisible mist that ordinary people couldn't see was slowly dissipating. Just as it was about to disappear completely, the power of the Soul Stone enveloped this mist. Then, an invisible force strengthened Hizashi's nearly dissolving soul, forcefully resisting the pull from the Pure Land of the Underworld.
Using the connection between the remaining portion of Hizashi's soul and the part already drawn toward the Pure Land of the Underworld, the Space Stone activated. Above Hizashi's corpse, a grayish spatial passage opened up, with pale blue energy confining the portal within a fixed range.
The gray spatial passage churned like fog, and sparkling streams of light flew out from it—these were the portions of Hizashi's soul that had already been drawn away.
With a small wave of her hand, the spatial passage instantly closed, leaving only those dazzling small orbs of light hovering above Hizashi's corpse.
"Come together now!" The orange glow in Sakura's pupils intensified, resembling a radiant gemstone.
The twinkling lights gradually gathered together, finally forming one complete glowing orb. Under Sakura's control, this orb swiftly dove into Hizashi's body.
"It's time to wake up."
Sakura snapped her fingers, sending a sharp sound through the air and fully merging Hizashi's soul back into his body.
"Cough, cough, cough..."
Under the watchful eyes of Hiashi and others, Hizashi's chest suddenly began rising and falling. After some time, he let out a weak cough and slowly blinked his eyes open.
"Hiashi, you're alright now." Hiashi, overcome with emotion, rushed forward and threw his arms around his brother, tears streaming down his face, leaving Hizashi completely bewildered.
"Talk about yaoi-level brother vibes!"
Her brain instantly went there, probably because she always viewed things through yaoi-colored glasses. Instead of marveling at their strong familial bond, the first thought entering Sakura's mind was instinctively recalling those yaoi novels about these two brothers she'd read in her past life.
Chapter 20: Hiashi Hyuga's Heart for Reform
"What a tragic mess."
Stealing a glance at Neji's mother, who remained stunned and hadn't yet recovered her composure, Sakura suddenly saw a faint greenish tint appearing in her hair—a classic sign of jealousy brewing beneath the surface. Come to think of it, were Hiashi and Hizashi stepping into "taboo siblings" territory?
"Although I've personally experienced it once already, seeing it again still feels unbelievable!" The Third exhaled a smoke ring to calm his shaken nerves. Reversing life and death—an ability this terrifying, even the Ninja God, the First Hokage, never displayed such power.
"Third-sama, could you put out that cigarette? There's someone here who just came back from near death and is still seriously injured," Sakura said with slight distaste as she covered her nose. She had always hated the smell of smoke in her previous life, and The Third's pipe smelled much stronger than modern cigarettes.
"Right. I forgot," The Third awkwardly put away his pipe.
