Chapter 26: Chapter 26
Chapter 22: Visiting the Uchiha Household [Part 1]
"How about this, Lord Third?" Sakura suddenly had an idea and said, "Let me give the Cloud Village's army a bloody lesson at the border. When I return, let me borrow the Scroll of Seals for a look. What do you think?"
"Now now, the Scroll of Seals holds countless forbidden techniques. It's not something you just take a casual look at!" The Third took a puff of his pipe. The Scroll of Seals was created by the First, containing various forbidden techniques from the Second and others. Normally, only the Hokage could access it.
"I'm not asking to view it casually. I want to find some ninjutsu suitable for Naruto's training. Anyway, we're all about to enter the Ninja Academy. You can consider this as preparing in advance for the future!"
Among her current companions, whether it was Sasuke, Neji, Ino, or others, they all came from prestigious families who passed down their clan-specific jutsu. Only Naruto had lost both parents early; no one supported him, let alone taught him ninjutsu. Sakura wanted to find some suitable techniques from the Scroll of Seals to teach Naruto, so he wouldn't end up like in the world she remembered, where he didn't truly learn any ninjutsu until after graduating from the Ninja Academy.
"Naruto?!" The Third hesitated for a moment before replying, "Fine then. If you successfully resolve the border issue, I'll hand the Scroll of Seals over to you upon your return. But understand, you may only read it here—you cannot take it outside."
"No problem!" Sakura immediately agreed. She wasn't planning to defect with the Scroll anyway. With her current memory capacity, memorizing the whole Scroll of Seals would be a piece of cake for her now.
"I'll have someone escort you to the border. Any other requests?" asked the Third.
"Can I choose my team myself?" Sakura's eyes lit up. Leaving the village with a careless selection of people wouldn't do—she needed several capable individuals.
"Who did you have in mind?" The Third curiously asked. Ever since he learned that Sakura could see the past and future, he paid special attention to every word and action of hers.
"Just three people will do!" Sakura counted on her fingers. "One is Kakashi Hatake, another is Shisui Uchiha, and lastly, Might Guy!"
"Might Guy?" The Third raised an eyebrow. Kakashi Hatake was under his command, very strong, and he felt confident leaving with him. Shisui Uchiha was the descendant of his old friend Kagami Uchiha and known as 'Shunshin no Shisui.' He understood why those two were chosen. But what about Might Guy?
"Don't underestimate him, Grandpa Third! Even though he might seem unreliable outwardly, his strength is beyond compare!"
Sakura knew well enough that Might Guy at this point wasn't yet at the peak displayed during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Because no one had witnessed the true destructive potential of the Eight Gates technique, Might Guy was generally regarded as eccentric and unorthodox. Yet, who could possibly imagine that this seemingly oddball ninja would later deliver a life-risking flying kick powerful enough to nearly kill Madara Uchiha himself—a Six Paths-level opponent?
"Actually, if his father were still alive, I would have preferred him to lead the team!"
Sakura felt a pang of regret. Might Guy's father, Might Duy, had risked opening the Eighth Gate—the Death Gate—to protect Guy and his comrades, killing four of the Seven Swords of the Bloody Mist before finally collapsing from exhaustion. Yet despite achieving such a feat, he was still ridiculed in the village as a lifelong Genin.
"Might Duy? Could you tell me about him?" The Third thought back to what Might Guy and others had said upon their return, but nobody had believed that a lifetime Genin could defeat the Seven Swords of the Bloody Mist. Now it seemed like things weren't quite as he understood them.
"There's not much more to add, really. Might Duy opened the final gate of the Eight Gates Technique to protect Guy and his group. He killed four of the Seven Swords of the Bloody Mist and injured three others, but ultimately burned out his own life force and died." Sakura briefly summarized Might Duy's heroic deed, then added, "Actually, Might Duy hadn't even reached the peak version of the Eight Gates Technique yet. His form was still incomplete, only enhancing physical abilities without perfecting those ultimate techniques."
If Might Duy had been able to use those later ultimate techniques developed by Guy, the Seven Swords of the Bloody Mist wouldn't have stood a chance. Neither [Evening Elephant] nor [Night Guy] would be something they could withstand.
"Just how powerful is the true potential of the Eight Gates?" the Third asked, already secretly planning on cultivating an army of Eight Gates users. If a lifelong Genin like Might Duy could take down four of the Seven Swordsman, having several more like him would make Konoha untouchable.
"To put it simply, when completely unleashed at its limit-pushing state, the Eight Gates can easily crush the Kage representing all five great nations without them putting up any resistance whatsoever. But the side effects are massive—it's literally fighting with your life on the line!"
Sakura immediately knew what expression the Hokage was making. "Forget about forming an Eight Gates army. Not many people can even survive training for the Eight Gates, let alone adopt that fighting style!"
"I understand," the Third nodded, though clearly not abandoning the idea entirely. "I can personally assign Kakashi and Guy, but you'll need to negotiate directly with the Uchiha clan regarding Shisui Uchiha."
"That's fine. As long as you handle Kakashi and Guy properly, I'll take care of negotiations with the Uchiha clan."
Sakura felt full of confidence. She felt certain she could persuade Fugaku to release someone. After all, wasn't she Sasuke Uchiha's exclusive stylist? She had designed so many iconic styles for Sasuke and even helped improve his relationship with his brother. More importantly, if she recalled correctly, Mikoto Uchiha and Kushina Uzumaki were actually best friends. She'd definitely work this angle. There was no way Fugaku could resist the power of pillow talk.
In the evening, Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke walked together down the road, with Sasuke looking as moody and sullen as ever.
"Why are you following me? And why did you bring this idiot along too?"
"I told you already—I have something important to discuss with your father. As for Naruto, he can help with this matter too, so of course I had to bring him along!"
Sakura said matter-of-factly, "Also, I need to do some field research on your parents' and older brother's hobbies, so I can better tailor my approach and create more suitable dresses for you!"
