Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Gourmet delayed by a ninja

"If you like, I can give it to you." Moonlight Night and Moonlight Blast stared at Qin Yu.

As soon as these words fell, the entire battlefield froze momentarily.

Moonlight Night, a respected Tokubetsu Jōnin of Konoha, known for his mastery of the silent killing technique and kenjutsu, had taken the initiative to lower his status before Qin Yu—an unexpected move.

"I appreciate your kindness, but everyone is hungry. Let's not waste time." Qin Yu shook his head, declining the offer.

Moonlight Night's expression stiffened, and a hint of embarrassment flickered across his face.

"Senior Moonlight, don't take it to heart. Qin Yu wields the Raijin no Ken and has mastered the art of chakra flow. Even a skilled swordsman like you might find it difficult to impress him," murmured Yūgao Uzuki in a low voice.

"The Lightning Blade of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist?" Moonlight Night's eyes widened in surprise. Murmurs erupted among the shinobi present.

Qin Yu's eyes gleamed as his Mangekyō Sharingan activated in an instant.

With his left hand, he grabbed a freshly hunted deer and tossed it into the air.

His right hand, gripping a short chakra blade crackling with lightning, moved in a blur.

The onlookers barely had time to process what was happening before the deer was effortlessly dismembered mid-air.

If one had to describe the scene in words, only the legendary precision of Tobirama Senju's kenjutsu could compare.

In an instant, the meat was sliced into evenly portioned cuts, landing neatly in a blood-stained trench of nearly two meters in diameter.

When Qin Yu saw that Might Guy had returned with several wild goats, he made a decision.

Tonight, he would introduce these shinobi—who lived on ration bars and Ichiraku ramen—to the art of true gourmet cooking.

With his chakra-infused blade, Qin Yu expertly sealed the meat's juices, ensuring a richer flavor. As he boiled the cuts in a pot, the aroma intensified.

"What kind of dish is this? The cooking method is so unconventional."

"Tch, you're missing the point! Using elemental chakra manipulation and the Sharingan to butcher a goat with surgical precision—his skill is beyond that of a normal shinobi."

"This guy must've been a professional chef before becoming a ninja!"

The crowd was stunned.

Especially Uchiha Fugaku.

Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine someone would use the revered Mangekyō Sharingan for butchery.

If Madara Uchiha were alive to witness this, he'd probably cough up blood in sheer disbelief.

However, as Fugaku observed Qin Yu's movements, a thought struck him.

"Wait… He isn't planning to use Katon, is he?"

Before anyone could react, Qin Yu formed a hand seal.

"Katon: Housenka!"

A controlled burst of fire erupted, enveloping the boiling pot. The chakra-fueled heat ensured the broth simmered at the perfect temperature.

For an untrained observer, it might have seemed like a simple trick.

But the shinobi present recognized the feat for what it was—unparalleled chakra control.

Too little chakra and the fire wouldn't ignite.

Too much, and the entire pot would have been reduced to ash.

Even the legendary Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, would have been impressed by such precision.

As the broth reached its peak, Qin Yu added a handful of wild onions, Sichuan peppercorns, and a rare herb he had gathered earlier.

The fragrance that wafted through the air was enough to make the most disciplined shinobi salivate.

"Bring me a flat stone," Qin Yu ordered.

Without hesitation, Might Guy fetched a smooth, heavy rock.

Placing it over the embers, Qin Yu let it heat before rubbing goat fat across its surface. The sizzle echoed through the night.

With practiced ease, he stretched out a thin sheet of dough—originally intended for ramen—onto the heated stone.

As the dough crisped to golden perfection, he sprinkled a handful of fresh scallions over it.

Each flip of the flatbread released another wave of aroma into the air.

At last, the dish was complete.

Rolling slices of the fire-roasted lamb into the crisped dough, Qin Yu presented his creation.

"This is it."

He stepped back, allowing the others to approach.

The moment of silence that followed was broken by an explosion of movement.

"Hell no, I'm first!"

"You bastard, you shoved me aside!"

"Oi, Kurenai, you called me 'big brother' earlier—how about handing that over?"

"Hah! In this situation, even if you were my mother, I wouldn't hold back!"

As the shinobi scrambled to grab a serving, Qin Yu merely shook his head and turned to Kurenai Yuhi and Shizune.

"Try it. It's good."

"Oh dear, I seem to be breaking character here. But we have no choice… Watergate's orders, after all." Might Guy chuckled before diving into the chaos.

"Thanks, Qin Yu. I never expected you to be this skilled in cooking. Whoever marries you is in for a treat," Ino Yamanaka teased, stuffing her face with the flatbread while clutching another two.

Clearly, she had fought hard for them.

She nudged Kurenai and Shizune playfully, causing them to blush and silently focus on their food.

Minato Namikaze accepted a piece from Qin Yu, raising an eyebrow as he took a bite.

"Qin Yu, if you ever return to Konoha and open a restaurant, Ichiraku Ramen might go out of business."

"I must say, you were always the quiet type, but suddenly you're displaying all these skills. It's a bit overwhelming."

Even Fugaku nodded in agreement.

Qin Yu smiled faintly. "It's just a hobby. Sometimes a predator has to disguise itself as prey before taking on the dragons."

Minato and Fugaku exchanged glances, momentarily speechless.

Since Qin Yu wasn't willing to reveal more, they decided not to press the matter.

After the meal, the atmosphere had clearly shifted.

The Konoha shinobi, who had initially viewed Qin Yu with caution, now regarded him with newfound respect.

Perhaps this was the essence of what the Land of Fire called "diplomacy over a meal."

"It's getting late. I'll be heading back." Qin Yu dusted himself off and walked away.

The others nodded in acknowledgment.

Yet no one noticed the silent departure of Moonlight Night and Moonlight Blast.
