Naruto: I Draw Power Into Reality

Chapter 81: Chapter 82: Playacting as a Ninja!

"Granny Tsunade, did you buy back my manga?"

"Here, ten copies."

Tsunade dropped the ten extra copies of manga on the floor and picked one to hand to Mito Uzumaki.

Before she could speak, she suddenly thought of two points.

"Grandma, does that mean you're paying for all ten manga?"

"Tsunade, I heard Akaba is doing an event where you get free posters when buying manga."

Mito smiled gently, speaking softly and sweetly, but Tsunade knew better than to feel at ease.

At least at this moment, Tsunade felt as cold and still as winter.

After a brief pause, she slumped down and sat. "Fine then. But could you sponsor me to host a manga con?"

"A manga con? What's that supposed to be?"

Mito asked curiously.

"Hold on, let me think how to explain this..."

Tsunade rested her chin in thought, pausing briefly before explaining, "...simply put, you dress up like characters from manga, and at the con, you can sell handmade items related to the manga—like statues, fan art, stuff like that."

"Oh my, sounds interesting!"

Mito smiled gently.

"Right? So Grandma, want to sponsor a little?"

Seeing her chance, Tsunade quickly leaned closer with a grin.

"Sure."

Before Tsunade could even begin to feel happy, Mito added, "But I'll also be participating, and I'll keep tabs on the finances."

"Huh!"

Tsunade froze.

What was that supposed to mean?

Although Grandma had agreed to fund her, the money wouldn't actually go into her hands yet.

No, worse than that!

Her funds were strictly controlled to prevent gambling, with only the money she earned was really hers.

Now she started dreading the worst-case scenario: What if Grandma took all the profits from the con as well?

"Darn it, I shot myself in the foot!"

Tsunade was filled with regret.

What a terrifying grandma — like a smiling tiger with claws ready to strike.

"Don't overthink it, Tsunade. I'm just investing."

Mito said calmly, offering another faint smile.

Mito had raised Tsunade since childhood. She could tell what she was thinking just by watching her move.

"Really?"

Suddenly regaining her energy, Tsunade eagerly said, "Then I'm going to find people right away! For our first manga con, we absolutely can't have no cosplayers!"

"I'll do Haku."

Opening the first page, Mito immediately decided on the character she wanted to play.

"Eh…"

Tsunade hesitated slightly.

If Haku were a girl, there wouldn't be any problem with Mito cosplaying him—but the issue was, here, Haku was male!

"What's wrong?"

Mito glanced at her and curiously flipped the page forward.

He looked so cute!

That's what she was thinking.

"Grandma, keep reading ahead."

Looking somewhat embarrassed, Tsunade urged.

Mito nodded and slowly flipped through more pages.

This time she saw that particular sentence, finally understanding what Tsunade meant.

"Grandma, now you see what I mean, right?"

"I didn't expect it to be a boy, but..."

Mito Uzumaki's eyes lit up. Soon after, a ripple of chakra surged through her, and in an instant she transformed into Haku's appearance. "Isn't the boy persona cuter?"

Not only had she completely changed her appearance, but even her voice made it impossible to tell male from female.

"Huh?"

Tsunade was stunned. She hadn't expected her grandmother could pull off something like this. And since when was that considered "cute"?

"Let's go find someone else. Don't interrupt my manga reading."

"Haku" waved her off. Although her words sounded dismissive, her expression and tone held no trace of impatience at all.

For a moment, Tsunade almost thought this really was Haku.

Ever since getting into manga, her grandmother had been acting younger and younger.

As Tsunade sighed, she secretly felt happy for her grandmother.

With the vitality of the Uzumaki clan, staying positive like this surely meant a long life.

"Grandma, then I'll head out first."

Tsunade gave a slight bow.

Though the sixth volume hadn't been printed yet, judging by Yamano Izumi's efficiency, the manga should arrive in the village in at most two more days. Before that, she needed to gather all the main characters.

"In that case, we've got Haku sorted out. Next, I need to find Jiraiya; that idiot suits Naruto perfectly."

Tsunade mused inwardly.

But as soon as she stepped outside, she suddenly remembered an important issue.

After isolating himself, where on earth would Jiraiya usually go?

"Oh no—I actually don't know where Jiraiya might have gone!"

Tsunade muttered to herself as she walked down the street.

However, she had absolutely no clue.

"Hmm? Is that—"

"Sakumo, wait a second! I have something to ask you!"

Tsunade shouted.

"Eh?"

Sakumo Hatake stopped and looked at her curiously.

"We're organizing a Manga Con cosplay event soon. Would you mind playing Kakashi Hatake?"

Tsunade asked.

"No way!"

Sakumo's expression immediately turned cold.

"C'mon, just pretend for a bit. What's the big deal?"

Tsunade stepped forward and grabbed his arm.

Sakumo had tried to dodge, but Tsunade moved faster than he'd expected. He hesitated half a beat and was caught.

"Let go!"

"Not gonna!"

"Release me!"

"Promise to play Kakashi, and I'll let go."

The two bickered on the street. Honestly speaking, Sakumo did feel somewhat intrigued by cosplaying, but he absolutely refused to play Kakashi.

Yet,

With one hand gripping his arm, Tsunade applied just enough force to keep Sakumo from breaking free.

"Tch…You've improved a lot."

Sakumo groaned in frustration. There was no doubt now—Tsunade had gained incredible control over her strength, capable of precisely managing every ounce of force she used.

Well then…

"...Fine. I'll do it."

"Great!"

Smiling broadly, Tsunade finally released him. She bowed repeatedly, saying, "Sorry, Sakumo. For the very first Manga Con, I've got to pull it off perfectly."

"Whatever, whatever."

Sakumo sighed, waving his hand before resuming his walk.

Got one role secured!

Feeling delighted, Tsunade went off to find Shiso, The Third, and others, reaching out to everyone she thought would fit the roles perfectly.

She's certainly full of energy.

As Red Feather saw her passing by, he couldn't help thinking.

"Well then, I guess I'll go help find some people too."

If he let her manage everything alone, he'd feel guilty inside.

Akaba thought for a moment and decided to look for Uchiha Ryo — he'd make the perfect Sasuke Uchiha cosplayer.

Of course,

another reason was that Uchiha Ryo was easy to find.

Whenever new manga chapters were released, Ryo would come to the manga shop and buy a stack of issues all at once.

If he just waited here, it was only a matter of time before this guy showed up.

Sure enough!

Not long after school ended at the ninja academy, a figure appeared in Akaba's line of sight.

"Ten manga volumes."

Uchiha Ryo tossed down one thousand ryō coins upon approaching the shop.

"Great, I'll get them ready for you right away," Sakuma Yunlang replied, immediately heading off to prepare the manga.

Akaba smirked cheerfully, pulled over a stool, and said to Uchiha Ryo, "C'mon, we're old classmates. When you come to my store, don't be so cold. Why not sit down and chat for a bit?"

Uchiha Ryo glanced sideways and snorted, "We've got nothing to talk about."

"Well, actually, I'm planning to host a manga con. You might not know what a manga con is yet — it's where everyone dresses up as characters from manga, and there are people selling statues or fan art based on those series. Sounds cool, huh?"

Akaba carried on without paying attention to his expression.

Ryo seemed tempted, but as soon as he glanced at Akaba, he scowled and turned his head with a huff. "No, not even slightly interested."

"Oh really? That's a shame. There was going to be a special surprise at the end."

Akaba sighed dramatically. "Guess I have no choice then — I'll have to find someone else to play the role of Sasuke Uchiha."

"Huh? Sasuke Uchiha!"

Uchiha Ryo's eyes widened, and he finally gave in, muttering, "Well... I guess I could do it."

"Then it's settled."

Nailed it!

A slight smile crept onto Akaba's face.
