Chapter 82: Chapter 83: The Warm-Hearted Akaba
The next morning.
Akaba had barely woken up, finished breakfast, and stepped out for a little stroll when he was summoned to the Hokage Tower by the Third.
Now what?
"I heard from Tsunade you're organizing a Manga Con?"
The Third puffed on his pipe, his eyes revealing nothing of his thoughts.
"Yeah. With the Wave Country arc wrapping up, it's the perfect timing."
Akaba replied.
"Holding the event isn't an issue—I can even offer free venue space—but I'd like to waive the ticket fees."
The Third said, tapping his pipe lightly.
"You'll need to talk to Tsunade about that."
Akaba wasn't about to agree so easily.
If he promised away her profits, she'd come after him with fists flying—and probably knock his shop down herself.
"I want everyone who loves manga to have access. Trust me, this will ultimately be good for you too."
The Third explained logically. "Not only that, the Daimyo himself will attend."
"The Daimyo? You're kidding me!"
Akaba was stunned.
Would the Daimyo, practically living in another world, really know about this little event of his?
"It's true."
The Third answered, paused for a moment, then said no more.
"Almost got me there—you invited him yourself, didn't you?"
Akaba figured it out immediately.
The Third had personally invited the Daimyo, aiming to turn the con into an official event to mend relations with him.
For Akaba, this brought nothing but benefits—except possibly for Tsunade...
"Tsunade won't be shortchanged. Don't worry about that."
"Well then, if that's all, I should head out now."
The more Akaba thought about it, the more ominous it felt. He muttered before preparing to leave.
However,
The Third tapped the table with his pipe and sighed, "Don't rush off. You're not getting out of this one."
"Then just tell me straight—what do you want me to do?"
Akaba finally gave in helplessly.
All he wanted was to throw a comic con—to bring fans together, promote manga culture, maybe hype up some new titles. He never expected the Third to pull such a sneaky move.
"I heard from Danzo that you modified Narakami no Jutsu into an illusion called PROTECT KONOHA VILLAGE?"
The Third smiled.
"You want the Daimyo to experience the Illusion, hoping to reduce their suffering by treating it as entertainment?"
Akaba caught on right away.
"Precisely."
The Third nodded.
"It's actually simple. Just find a skilled Genjutsu user from Konoha, and I can personally guide them."
"We couldn't find anyone qualified—not even one of our Anbu could pull it off—that's why we came to you."
Sarutobi Hiruzen admitted gloomily. For the Hokage, admitting that most people in the village were inferior to a child wasn't easy.
And according to Danzo's experiments, none of the Anbu could accomplish it.
"Fine, but I have conditions."
Guess finding someone to run this wasn't gonna be easy—he was kinda hoping to get it for free too.
Since there's no benefit here, he needed to negotiate elsewhere.
"What do you want in return?"
The Third glanced at the table and said indifferently, "Nothing unreasonable."
"I'd like permission to lead a caravan during the next Chunin Exams."
"To the Land of Wind?"
The Third considered it thoughtfully—the trade routes between Fire and Wind weren't exactly plentiful.
After weighing the pros and cons, he finally nodded. "Sure, but only books."
"I understand."
Getting what he wanted felt like a weight lifted off his mind.
Akaba stepped outside, only to run into Tsunade.
"Hey, what did that old pervert want with you?" Tsunade leaned in and whispered.
His expression stiffened as he glanced awkwardly around.
There must be Anbu around here somewhere, right?
Besides, every move is watched from above—that old man's always keeping an eye out!
"Don't drag your feet. What's going on?"
Tsunade grew impatient. "He wouldn't have changed his mind about refusing to play the elderly version, would he?"
"Not at all. On the contrary, he's very supportive."
Akaba cleared his throat before replying.
"It doesn't matter. I'll go in and ask myself."
Smirking proudly, Tsunade added, "I've already got most characters locked down. Everything's ready!"
"We can discuss details later. I should head back to the shop. Izumi Yamano might've already dropped by with some manga."
Saying so, Akaba waved goodbye.
The Hokage Tower was trouble—stay too long, and you'd end up doing someone else's work. That's why he had no intention of lingering longer than needed.
Izumi Yamano was just an excuse anyway.
"Alright, we'll talk later."
Unfazed and full of energy, Tsunade showed no fear.
Akaba sighed slightly.
Young people always had that spark. It reminded him how real life inevitably dulls your edges...
"Well then, back home for a rest—and maybe figure out where Shinku Yuhi is."
Akaba sighed again, surprised none of the Anbu had mastered it yet.
Apart from the elder generations of the Sakuma clan within Konoha, probably only the Uchiha or Shinku Yuhi himself could manage something like this.
Finding a server really wasn't easy!
He mused to himself, casually scanning the surroundings.
The Yuhi clan was a minor clan in Konoha. Walking back toward the manga shop, he happened to pass by Shinku Yuhi's house.
"Huh? He's over there."
Looking up, Akaba spotted him standing on the rooftop.
This boy stood at a high vantage point, looking down at everyone passing along the street below.
Observing.
Hmm?
Shinku Yuhi looked downward and saw Akaba walking on the street.
Actually, unless someone was paying attention, it would be hard to notice him—after all, Akaba was barely ten and still pretty short.
The next moment, he ran down the wall.
"Akaba, are you looking for me?"
As he landed, he asked directly face-to-face.
True enough—he was studying people's expressions and emotions.
"Yes. Do you remember what I mentioned earlier?"
Akaba said with a faint smile.
"Mm, stronger mental focus, better control, and more refined illusions."
Nodding, Shinku Yuhi responded accordingly.
"That's roughly the idea. Want to try experiencing my illusion?"
"Oh! Can I really?"
A look of delight lit up his face.
As a genjutsu researcher, Shinku Yuhi naturally couldn't wait to experience what was said to be the perfect illusion.
"Let's find an appropriate spot then."
Akaba smiled.
"Great! Let's go to my place."
With good manners, Shinku Yuhi walked ahead to open the door.
Akaba followed closely. Only after entering did Shinku Yuhi approach again, both stepping inside the house one after another.
After sitting down, Akaba began explaining his principle: "The essence of genjutsu is to disrupt chakra, causing disturbances in a ninja's perception."
"Yes."
"I've studied the Narakami no Jutsu. It reveals a person's innermost fears, showing the most terrifying scenes possible. I've understood how it disturbs chakra, and based on this, I control and modify it, creating my own controllable illusions."
Akaba explained slowly.
I mean, calling it research was just being polite—really, he was just applying knowledge he had gained.
Shinku Yuhi fell into deep thought before sighing unhappily, "This probably requires the Sakuma clan's Five Senses Manipulation to achieve perfectly, right?"
The five senses were also part of illusions. Without precise control over them, it couldn't truly be called perfect.
"That's right—for an illusion to be completely realistic and flawless."
Akaba didn't hide the truth, "But only by reaching this level will you qualify to pursue higher realms."
The Five Senses Manipulation wasn't exclusive to the Sakuma clan alone.
For example, the Bringer-of-Darkness Technique affected vision specifically.
With enough study, someday he would master illusion techniques affecting all five senses. The Sakuma clan's specialty was Materializing Illusions into Reality.
That was truly the core of their kekkei genkai.
"I understand. Please proceed with the technique."
Shinku Yuhi appeared thoughtful at first, then nodded as he spoke.
"Alright, here goes."
[Genjutsu: Create Illusionary Realm!]
Soon afterward, Shinku Yuhi found himself caught within an illusion.
Looking into the distance, he saw an enormous fox demon roaring toward the heavens.
What was that?
He felt shocked for a moment, before watching the beast continuously spewing Tailed Beast Balls. Each attack carried immense destructive power.
Although none targeted him directly, how real everything felt was astonishing.
For a brief instant, he even questioned whether this was reality.
Suddenly—
BOOM!
A loud explosion rang out as a Tailed Beast Ball hurtled nearby.
Terrifying chakra scattered everywhere, instantly obliterating all around. Overwhelmed by unbearable pain, Shinku Yuhi opened his eyes the next second and saw Akaba standing right before him.
The illusion had ended.
Still slightly dazed, he realized if Akaba had used his kekkei genkai ability just now, he'd already be dead.
For several seconds, he honestly believed he was about to die.
Once the victim truly believes they're experiencing reality, the success rate of Materializing Illusions into Reality dramatically increases.
Clearly though, Akaba hadn't actually used that particular ability.
"Think carefully. You show great talent in genjutsu—I won't say anything else."
Smiling faintly, Akaba stood up and prepared to leave.
"Thank you, Akaba."
Feeling grateful and deeply moved, Shinku Yuhi said with sincerity.
They hadn't interacted much back when attending school together, but unexpectedly, Akaba turned out to be such a warm-hearted person. Truly admirable!
