Chapter 12: [Bonus Chapter] Prepare For The Possiblity Of Root Being Disbanded!
At this time, the sound of footsteps echoed.
Uchiha Fugaku, flanked by the Uchiha Police Force, walked over. Their eyes widened in shock as they saw Danzo and Koharu lying battered on the ground.
"Danzo-sama? Koharu-sama?!" Fugaku muttered, disbelief plastered on his face.
Who could've beaten them like this?
Fugaku turned to Hiruzen Sarutobi with a stunned expression. "Hokage-sama, did you call us here for this?"
Hiruzen sighed heavily. "No, Fugaku. Everything is under control. Return to your posts and maintain order around the village."
Fugaku nodded, though his expression remained complex. "Understood, Hokage-sama."
As Fugaku turned to leave, he cast a lingering look at Yoruichi. The sight of Minato Namikaze standing nearby with his golden hair fluttering in the breeze only added to his confusion.
Yoruichi... Did he really just strike two of Konoha's top advisors? And Danzo, too? These were powerful figures just below the Hokage!
This was madness.
Kushina Uzumaki clung to Yoruichi's arm, her expression tense. Her grip tightened, pressing against him. Yoruichi couldn't help but notice the warmth.
Kushina, for all her fiery temperament, was far more developed than most noticed.
"Enough!" Homura Mitokado snapped, glaring at Hiruzen. "Hokage-sama, Yoruichi's actions remain highly suspicious! He's killed so many of Konoha's elite shinobi. He must be taken into custody for investigation! This was agreed upon by the Administrative and Root Departments, even if it wasn't made public!"
It was clear this wasn't just about protocol anymore; this was about pride. If they didn't detain Yoruichi, their reputations would crumble. They were Konoha elders. How could they show their faces after being so thoroughly humiliated?
But Yoruichi wasn't about to back down.
"I see," Yoruichi said, his tone sharp. "You say I'm suspicious. But these men attacked me and Kushina without cause. Do you think I'd just stand there and let it happen?"
Homura faltered, but Yoruichi didn't stop.
"Or maybe... maybe you're the suspicious one, Homura. Have you been working with Kumogakure in secret? Did I unknowingly disrupt some shady deal between you and the enemy? Is that why you're so angry?"
The crowd went silent.
"Yoruichi, enough!" Homura barked, his face pale. "You—You dare accuse me?"
Uzumaki Mito stepped forward, her aura heavy with the Nine-Tails' chakra. Her presence was undeniable, and her voice cut through the tension like a blade. "Homura, if you've betrayed Konoha, I'll deal with you myself."
"No, no!" Homura stammered, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. "You're mistaken! Everything I do is for the village!"
Mito's piercing gaze lingered on him before she turned to Hiruzen. "Hokage, this needs to be investigated. Thoroughly."
Hiruzen nodded grimly. "Agreed. I'll ensure no stone is left unturned."
Satisfied, Mito turned to Yoruichi and Kushina. "Come, both of you. Let's leave."
As the trio departed, Yoruichi paused at the corner, glancing back. "Oh, one more thing, Hokage-sama. I noticed a Sharingan among the corpses here. Strange, isn't it? An Uchiha, not in the police force, but working under Danzo in Root. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?"
The color drained from Hiruzen's face. Yoruichi's words weren't just for him—they were for the Uchiha clan, who stood just outside earshot.
Danzo's secret dealings with the Uchiha clan... what was he planning?
Hiruzen's expression darkened as he turned to Homura, ignoring the smug look Yoruichi shot back.
Hiruzen's expression turned cold as he surveyed the corpses, his eyes lingering on the Uchiha with a Sharingan. The weight of Yoruichi's words pressed on him.
Homura stood frozen, while Danzo, feigning unconsciousness, twitched ever so slightly.
Hiruzen broke the silence. "Homura, Koharu... You've worked tirelessly for the village for many years. But perhaps it's time for a break. Take a month off. Hand over your duties to the younger generation and rest."
Homura's face stiffened, and Koharu, still groaning on the ground, looked like she wanted to protest but couldn't muster the strength.
"And Danzo..." Hiruzen's voice turned icy, his gaze shifting to the battered elder. "You're not fooling anyone. Get up."
Danzo opened one eye, his attempt to remain "injured" clearly futile.
"The actions of Root have become too questionable. An internal investigation will be launched immediately. Prepare for the possibility of disbanding your operations entirely."
