Chapter 134: MSOC: Chapter 134

"Hold it, Tsuchigumo Clan Head!" Konan shouted urgently. Her intention was to broker peace between the two clans—a reflection of Akatsuki's principles. But Tsuchigumo's murderous intent made her tense. She was too far to stop him. All she could do was watch as his chakra-imbued blade sliced through the spider silk cocoon.

"Little girl, you Akatsuki are too naive. On the battlefield, it's kill or be killed. I won't stop now," Tsuchigumo laughed cruelly, his attack intensifying.

"Die!"

His roar echoed, even those fleeing stopping to watch. They wanted to teach the Taketori a lesson.

Clang!

A sharp metallic clang rang out. The chakra-imbued blade sliced through the spider silk, but Tsuchigumo felt like he'd struck an adamantine wall. The recoil jarred his hands, sparks flying, making everyone's eyes widen.

Psh!

The cocoon burst, bone spurs erupting like spears, piercing Tsuchigumo. He froze, unable to react. He could only watch as the white spikes approached.

Psh!

Blood sprayed like fireworks. Tsuchigumo stared in disbelief at the holes in his body.

"My apologies. My bones are as strong as refined steel. That's the Taketori clan's greatest strength!"

The bone blades sliced through the cocoon, freeing the Taketori leader, clad in white bone armor, like a samurai in battle armor. The armor was grotesque, with bone spikes protruding from his back like a porcupine. Tsuchigumo's powerful strike had only left a shallow scratch on the bone armor around the leader's neck.

"Boss, he's like a monster," Kakuzu said impassively. "Is the Boss planning to recruit him? He seems... unique."

Kai's subordinates were all terrifying—himself, Sasori, and even Kisame, whom Kakuzu hadn't met yet, were probably similar.

"Kakuzu, are you belittling my judgment?" Kai smiled playfully. "How many moves would it take you to kill him?"

Kakuzu hesitated. "Ten moves, I think."

Taijutsu users with such strong bone armor weren't easy to subdue. But for Kakuzu, with his five elemental chakra natures and earth-style hardening, this opponent wouldn't be difficult.

Their casual conversation was jarring in the tense silence. Everyone stared at each other in disbelief. They'd thought Kai was just arrogant; they hadn't expected such audacity. It was suicidal.

"Ho ho, looks like I've got good luck, encountering such an audacious brat," the Taketori leader sneered.

"I'm curious. You said you could defeat me in ten moves. How many moves will it take you, arrogant fool?"

"Thirty? Twenty? Or the same ten?"

"One move," Kai said playfully.

His words, like a hurricane, swept through the crowd, making everyone tense.

Madman!

That was the only word that came to mind.

To speak so lightly to such a vicious opponent was either madness or stupidity—a gamble with his life.

"Good boy, you're arrogant. Don't run away," the Taketori leader sneered, his eyes glinting with malice. He swung his bone blade towards Tsuchigumo's neck. A fatal blow.

"Stop!" Konan shouted, throwing her kunai to block the blade.

Clang!

Sparks flew as the bone blade momentarily paused.

"Little girl, you dare interfere?" the Taketori leader roared. "No one can save those I intend to kill."

"Clan Head, Tsuchigumo is badly injured. You've had your revenge. Please stop," Konan pleaded.

"Girl, I was rude. Please save me," Tsuchigumo said, pale and trembling, looking near death.

Konan hesitated, stepping closer. But as she moved, Tsuchigumo suddenly attacked, his eyes filled with a ferocious glint. He grabbed Konan's wrist.

The force sent Konan flying towards the Taketori leader. Everyone was shocked. Konan hadn't expected Tsuchigumo to betray her. She knew she'd be pierced by the bone spurs.

"Kakuzu," Kai said calmly, as if expecting this.

Kakuzu's eyes narrowed, his hidden hand clenching. At that critical moment, a large black hand emerged from the ground, grabbing Konan's ankle and flinging her towards Kai.

Everyone was astonished. They'd thought Kai and Kakuzu were just talking, but they'd intervened perfectly. It seemed planned from the start.
