Chapter 341: 340-You have No Idea
Renjiro's eyes snapped back to Tani/Matatabi, after he sensed she was forming another Tailed Beast Bomb. The vortex of energy in her maw grew larger and more unstable, the ground cracking beneath her enormous paws.
"No, this won't do," Renjiro muttered, his mind racing.
With a flick of his wrist, he retrieved a small pouch from one of his storage seals. Inside were soldier pills—13 in total. Without hesitation, he swallowed them all, feeling the immediate surge of chakra flooding his system.
Closing his eyes, he steadied his breathing, focusing inward. Slowly, he reopened them, the whites of his eyes turning a fiery red as he activated the three Gates once more.
The chakra coursing through him was overwhelming, a torrent of energy that threatened to consume him. But he held firm, his determination unwavering.
Tani/Matatabi released the Tailed Beast Bomb, the massive sphere of energy hurtling toward him with terrifying speed.
Renjiro's pulse thundered in his ears as the Bomb hurtled toward him, the ground beneath its trajectory splitting apart under its immense gravitational force. The air grew heavy, crackling with volatile energy, and yet, despite every nerve in his body screaming at him to dodge, Renjiro stood his ground.
"I could reverse summon myself out of here," Renjiro thought, the idea flickering briefly in his mind. But something—something deep, primal, and inexplicable—rooted him to the spot.
He clenched his fists as the Tailed Beast Bomb loomed closer, its deadly power palpable even at this distance. His emotions were a tangled mess—fear, defiance, and a strange sense of purpose and thrill he couldn't quite articulate.
As if in response, his chakra surged. The soldier pills finally took full effect, flooding his already bolstered reserves with an almost overwhelming influx of energy. The strain on his body lessened, replaced by a renewed sense of strength and clarity.
The ground quaked beneath him as he lifted his gaze to the approaching sphere of destruction. Time seemed to slow, and in that suspended moment, something within him shifted.
The air around him shimmered as Renjiro's chakra, taxed and strained, flared to life once more in a radiant blaze of silver. The glow seemed alive, swirling and dancing in intricate patterns before coalescing into a dense, potent mass of energy.
It started slowly but with a deliberate momentum—a skeletal structure begun forming around him was not just a defense but a declaration. The spine emerged first, vertebra by glowing vertebra, each one appearing to pulse with its own heartbeat of chakra.
The bones grew outward in branching lines, ribs arching upward and outward in a symmetrical cage of silver. The way they formed was almost surgical in precision, as though guided by an unseen hand crafting something ancient and magnificent.
The collarbones extended next, joining with broad shoulders that loomed over Renjiro like the armour of a giant. The faint hum of energy grew louder as the structure neared completion. Finally, the skull formed—a featureless yet imposing head, its hollow eye sockets burning with twin orbs of radiant silver light that pierced through the haze of the battlefield.
The skeletal construct, towering and majestic, seemed alive in its own right, crackling with latent energy that rippled through the air.
It stood tall around Renjiro, a stark contrast to his exhausted figure within. Yet, even in its incomplete state, with no legs or detailed features, it radiated an overwhelming sense of power.
Renjiro took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling heavily. A faint tremor ran through his body—not from fear, but from the toll this exertion was taking.
Sweat dripped down his temples, and he bit his bottom lip in frustration. "It's not perfect," he muttered, his voice low and steady, tinged with irritation as he felt the chakra drain that accompanied this manifestation. "But it'll do."
The ground beneath him quaked as the Tailed Beast Bomb neared, Renjiro steadied himself, his Sharingan spinning wildly as he focused on the oncoming destruction. A barrier was formed in front of him from his chains, shimmering like a shield forged from liquid light.
The Tailed Beast Bomb collided with the barrier in an explosion of light and sound. A deafening roar reverberated across the battlefield, and the barrier pulsed, holding firm against the attack's sheer might.
Renjiro felt the strain immediately—the pressure pressing down on him, the vibrations coursing through his body as he clenched his teeth.
"Crack!"
A sharp sound pierced through the chaos as fractures began to spread across the barrier like a spiderweb. The silver energy flickered, straining under the weight of the attack.
"Crack!"
The barrier shattered with a sound akin to breaking glass, shards of silver energy scattering into the air like starlight. The remnants of the Tailed Beast Bomb surged forward, slamming into Renjiro and his Susanoo.
"Boom!"
The impact was cataclysmic, the shockwave flattening the ground around him and sending a towering plume of dust and smoke into the sky. The noise was deafening, drowning out all other sounds, and for a moment, everything was obscured in a thick, suffocating haze.
Tani, in her colossal, fiery feline form, stood motionless, her glowing eyes fixed on the swirling cloud of debris. The ground beneath her paws crackled with embers, and the intensity of her flames dimmed slightly as she observed.
"That's it," she muttered, her voice low and gravelly, filled with certainty. "It's over."
Matatabi's voice resonated in her mind, a note of disbelief cutting through the quiet. "The Susanoo... it survived."
As the dust began to settle, a faint silvery glow pierced through the haze. Slowly, the figure of Renjiro emerged, standing amidst the destruction. His Susanoo remained intact, though cracks ran along its skeletal frame. Its glowing eyes burned brighter than ever, a defiant light against the overwhelming odds.
Renjiro himself was visibly worn—blood trickled from his nose, staining his lip, and his body swayed slightly as though ready to give out. Yet, his gaze was unwavering, and his expression was one of unyielding determination.
Tani snarled, the flames surrounding her roaring back to life. "What... what are you?" she growled, her voice a mixture of anger and unease.
Renjiro said nothing, his silence speaking volumes. He lifted his hand slowly, and the skeletal arm of his Susanoo mirrored the motion, the air around it shimmering with energy.
Before he could make his next move, Tani lunged forward, her massive form charging at him with terrifying speed. Each step shook the ground, and the flames that cloaked her body intensified, creating a fiery vortex around her.
Renjiro's Sharingan spun, tracking her every move with precision. As she closed the distance, he reacted with calculated swiftness. The massive bony arm of his Susanoo swung in a wide arc, backhanding Tani mid-charge.
"Crash!"
The impact was immense, sending Tani's fiery form hurtling backwards. She skidded across the battlefield, leaving deep gouges in the earth before coming to a halt hundreds of meters away.
Dazed but not defeated, Tani growled as she pushed herself back onto her feet. Her fiery mane flickered erratically, her glowing eyes narrowing as she assessed her opponent.
"Unbelievable," she muttered, shaking off the disorientation. "That thing... it's more than just chakra. It's a fortress."
Renjiro remained still, his expression unreadable. Internally, however, he was cursing himself.
'Her strength... it's unreal. I can't keep this up much longer.'
A faint trickle of blood from his nose turned into a small stream, unnoticed by him as he focused entirely on the battle.
Tani snarled, gathering her energy once more. The flames around her surged, and she opened her massive maw, another Tailed Beast Bomb forming between her jaws. The sphere grew larger and larger, its energy rippling outward in waves of heat and pressure.
This time, Renjiro was ready.
The silver glow around him intensified as adamantine chains materialized in the air around him. They twisted and coiled like living serpents, encircling his Susanoo and forming a layered defence.
As Tani unleashed the Tailed Beast Bomb, Renjiro's chains lashed out from the bony hands, wrapping around the deadly sphere. They tightened like a vice, forming a shimmering barrier that trapped the attack within its confines.
"What is he—" Tani started, her voice filled with disbelief.
Before she could finish, Renjiro flicked his wrist, and the cocooned bomb was sent hurtling back toward her.
"Boom!"
The explosion was colossal, the shockwave flattening the surrounding landscape. Tani's massive form was engulfed in the blast, her roar of pain echoing across the battlefield as the flames of the explosion mingled with her own.
When the smoke cleared, she was still standing, though her form was visibly shaken. Slowly, three identical figures of Matatabi began to materialize beside her, their fiery bodies flickering like ghostly apparitions.
Renjiro's Sharingan spun wildly, his Mangekyo dilating as his chakra surged once more. He raised his hand, and the chains on his arms lashed out, slamming into the ground with a deafening boom.
This time, they erupted into green flames, their radiant glow casting an eerie light over the battlefield.
Tani's eyes narrowed, her voice low and dangerous. "You're full of surprises, aren't you?"
Renjiro smirked, his voice steady despite the exhaustion evident in his body. "You have no idea."
