Naruto : Ninja school teacher, I can become stronger by teaching

Chapter 26: What to Do When Your Teacher is Too Rebellious

"You tell me to leave, then you tell me to stop; you're making it difficult for me," Muyue said, looking at Asuma with a half-smile.

"Can't you just discuss it with me? How about we meet halfway? I won't have such high demands, and you'll listen to me during class," Asuma tried to negotiate with Muyue. He wasn't unwilling to be taught; he was just rebellious and didn't want to accept his father's arrangements.

"No, no, no, having high demands isn't your problem. It's my inadequacy; I can't meet your demands, so I should just leave," Muyue said, turning to walk away after hearing Asuma's suggestion.

"Alright, you don't have to listen to me, just don't leave yet!" Asuma quickly called out again when he saw Muyue about to walk out of the backyard. He was really exasperated with Muyue.

"So, we can start class now?" Muyue asked with a chuckle. To deal with a rebellious student like Asuma, one had to be even more rebellious, fighting magic with magic.

"Fine, whatever. What do you want to teach?" Asuma was at a loss for words. In his imagination, he should have been the one to discourage the tutor, then Muyue would negotiate with him, and he would have the upper hand. Although he felt indifferent, even disdainful, about his identity, he had to admit that being the Hokage's son provided many conveniences.

Muyue looked around and said, "Let's go train outside; it's not very convenient here". Muyue mentioned it to Biwako and then took Asuma out to a small forest with a river.

"Let's test your chakra control ability first. Try tree climbing," Muyue said to Asuma, pointing to a tall tree.

"Tree climbing? That's easy. I'll show you," Asuma's eyes darted around, and he chuckled, thinking of a good idea. He walked to the thick, tall tree, didn't use chakra, but instead climbed to the top using his hands and feet like a nimble monkey.

Asuma shouted triumphantly, "See how fast I climb this tree?" Of course, he knew what Muyue meant by tree climbing, but he deliberately chose not to cooperate.

Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was observing Muyue teaching Asuma through a crystal ball, fell silent and rubbed his forehead helplessly. He might have been nicknamed "Monkey" before, but he never did something like this. What kind of child did he have?

"You climb very fast; your limb strength is good," Muyue said with a smiling compliment, not getting agitated as Asuma had imagined. Then, Muyue found a relatively thin tree, chopped off its branches, poured oil on it, and smiled at Asuma, saying, "That was just a warm-up. Let's start the real tree climbing".

Asuma's mouth twitched as he looked at the thin, bare tree, covered in oil. Even if he were the best climber, he couldn't climb such a tree bare-handed.

"It's okay if you can't climb it. Admitting your shortcomings is also a sign of courage," Muyue said slowly.

"Who said I can't climb it? Don't underestimate me!" Asuma, a recently graduated nine-year-old brat, couldn't stand the provocation. He immediately imbued his feet with chakra and steadily walked to the top of the tree.

"His control ability is pretty good," Muyue nodded, not too surprised.

Then Muyue took Asuma to the river. "Since tree climbing isn't a problem, let's see if you can walk on water," Muyue said, pointing to the river, continuing to test Asuma's chakra control ability. After all, apart from a few exceptionally gifted individuals, ordinary people only had so much chakra, so improving their utilization rate was a good way to enhance their strength.

"If you can stand on the water for ten minutes without falling this time, you can train whatever you want from now on," Muyue offered a condition to motivate Asuma.

"You said it, don't go back on your word!" Asuma said with a joyful expression. He was still thinking about how to deal with this annoying teacher, but unexpectedly, Muyue had presented an opportunity himself. Wasn't it just walking on water? For other freshly graduated genin, it might be challenging, but for Asuma, it was normal.

Asuma confidently gathered chakra in the soles of his feet and walked onto the river, leisurely strolling on the water. The river wasn't big, only twenty meters wide.

"That annoying old man, he's so controlling. I've already graduated and become a ninja, and he still gets me a tutor," Asuma grumbled. He looked forward to telling the Third Hokage that his tutor had agreed to let him train freely.

Suddenly, Asuma felt something was wrong. He looked down and saw that the originally calm river had suddenly become turbulent.

"Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!"

Asuma looked again and saw that Muyue was on the shore, performing a Water Style ninjutsu, creating a water dragon that moved back and forth in the river, making the water churn and swell.

"Hey, what are you doing?" A splash of water splashed up, and Asuma almost lost control and fell into the water, muttering.

"I'm helping you simulate a combat scenario. In battle, the river water won't be calm like usual," Muyue said with a chuckle. "Also, I'm practicing my Water Style. This place with a river and trees is a good environment for Water Style training".

"Of course, if you think you can't do it, Asuma, I can stop. After all, admitting your shortcomings is also a sign of wisdom," Muyue said, trying his old trick again.

Asuma swallowed the words he was about to say. He was doing all this because he wanted to prove he could do it and didn't need a tutor or the Third Hokage's arrangements, so he certainly couldn't admit he couldn't.

Thus, Asuma focused all his attention on controlling his chakra, to prevent himself from falling into the water. However, chakra control wasn't something that could be improved instantly, and the sudden waves also tested his movement. Asuma struggled for five minutes, but in the end, he accidentally fell into the water and was instantly pulled out by Muyue.

"It seems your chakra control still needs improvement; you can't start free training yet," Muyue said with a regretful expression.

"If you hadn't interfered with Water Style, I wouldn't have fallen into the water!" Asuma retorted, a bit unconvinced.

"Do you expect your enemies not to use ninjutsu to attack you during battle?" Muyue said calmly.

"No, I want to try again!" Asuma became increasingly agitated and decided to prove himself. It turned out that being agitated didn't necessarily help solve math problems, but in combat, it might indeed lead to a burst of potential. This time, Asuma lasted seven minutes, just three minutes shy of completing the ten-minute achievement.

After resting for a while, Asuma eagerly called Muyue to try again. The third time, he lasted seven and a half minutes.

Finally, Asuma successfully lasted ten minutes as the sun was setting.

"I did it!" Asuma shouted excitedly, then lost control of his chakra and fell into the water, swallowing a mouthful of river water. When Muyue pulled Asuma out, Asuma's face was still alight with excitement.

"So, from now on, I can train whatever I want," Asuma said happily, wiping the water from his face.

"Who told you that?" Muyue asked, looking at Asuma strangely.

Asuma's smile froze, and he then questioned, "Didn't you say that if I lasted ten minutes 'this time,' I could train freely?"

"Yes," Muyue nodded, then said, "But I said 'this time,' meaning the first time you tried. And you didn't succeed the first time, did you?"

Asuma thought back and realized that was true! So, what was all that effort for? His physical exhaustion combined with the severe blow to his spirit almost made Asuma's eyes roll back, and he nearly fainted. He was almost knocked out by his rebellious teacher.

Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was peeking occasionally, stroked his beard and felt that Muyue's teaching ability was indeed formidable. In that single afternoon of training, Asuma's movement and chakra control had both improved.

"I will definitely fight back tomorrow!" Asuma secretly vowed in his heart, feeling that he had been tormented all afternoon.
