Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Mutual Harm is Not Good
"Finally..."
"It's finally done!" Obito couldn't help but cheer after finishing the last question. After more than ten days of struggle, he had finally completed the installment questions. From today onwards, he wouldn't have to do questions every day anymore.
"What's done? Obito Uchiha, what are you yelling about? Get up and answer the question!" Ikeya Isamu, startled by Obito, said irritably. However, to his surprise, Obito answered correctly, so Ikeya Isamu simply nodded and told Obito to sit down and pay attention to the lesson.
"Rin, let's go out tonight!" Obito, now seated, chuckled.
"Tonight? Tomorrow is Saturday, how about we go out tomorrow instead?" Rin Nohara said.
"Huh? Is it the weekend again?" Obito's eyes widened, asking in shock. He had just finished the installment questions, and it was already the weekend for receiving new ones.
"Obito, have you been studying so much you're confused? It's already Friday," Rin Nohara joked. She had seen Obito's recent efforts, and he was truly different from before.
"It's finally the weekend holiday; class time feels so slow, but the weekend passes in a blink."
"Yeah, even the long semester breaks don't feel as long as five days of school."
Obito: ...
The joys and sorrows of humans are not interconnected; he only found them noisy. He felt as if his time from Monday to Friday had been stolen. Every time he became aware, it was already Friday, almost time for school to end, followed by an extremely long weekend.
"Rin, let's make it tonight. I have training tomorrow during the day, so I might not have much energy in the evening," Obito said weakly. With the final exams approaching, weekend training was even more challenging than before. Previously, he could use the forest terrain to his advantage when fighting Might Guy, but then they were moved to a large flat area, where he truly had to rely on speed and agility. So, Obito decided to go out with Rin Nohara tonight. Friday's training was still relatively light.
"Alright, then let's do it tonight. I'll come find you after school and dinner, and then we'll go find Kakashi together," Rin Nohara nodded and said. Obito really wanted to ask why Kakashi had to be there, but he opened his mouth, and in the end, didn't ask. "Maybe she thinks Kakashi doesn't have anyone to play with, so she's bringing him along," Obito thought to himself.
After school, Obito went to the training ground as usual; he was still the last to arrive. As before, he first went through various physical exercises: push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and so on. After a certain period of exercise, it was time for combat.
"Today I'm changing the combat rules," Muyue said, calling Might Guy and Obito over. "Every time you hit your opponent, they get two additional questions, and you reduce your own by one. The combat time is seven minutes."
"Two questions for one hit, and seven minutes." Obito felt as if a sea of questions was surging towards him. Before, one hit was only one question, and they only fought for five minutes. This was directly double the amount! The only good thing was that hitting the opponent could reduce one question. As long as he landed enough hits, he wouldn't have to do any questions. The problem was, he had always been at a disadvantage in previous battles! He was glad he had the foresight to ask Rin Nohara out tonight. At this intensity, he would definitely be exhausted over the weekend and would need several days to recover.
"Sharingan, Sharingan," Obito muttered repeatedly, desperately wishing to awaken the Uchiha's bloodline limit.
"Muyue-sensei, what about the fifty questions I start with?" Might Guy looked at Muyue expectantly.
"Reduced to forty," Muyue replied. To balance it out, it couldn't be completely removed for now, as Might Guy's taijutsu was much stronger than Obito's. Although it wasn't completely cancelled, at least ten questions were removed, so Might Guy was still quite happy.
"Also, you can offset questions with training. You can offset up to sixty percent of the questions. Three hundred push-ups can offset one question, and other exercises can too," Muyue added. One hit becoming two questions would cause the number of questions to inflate rapidly, so Muyue decided to use training to offset the inflated number of questions. After all, the original intention of the questions was to improve their learning and knowledge acquisition, not purely as a punishment mechanism. He had to go over those questions; it wasn't just about doing them.
"Offset sixty percent." Obito's eyes lit up when he heard this, but then he felt overwhelmed again when he heard that three hundred push-ups only offset one question.
"Three hundred for one question? Hahahaha!" Might Guy burst out laughing. He would definitely go for the full sixty percent.
Looking at the wildly laughing Might Guy, and thinking about the mountain of questions he was about to face, Obito was suddenly inspired and calmly said: "Muyue-sensei, this isn't right. Offsetting questions with training should be to encourage better training, right? It should be based on individual training progress, not a fixed number." He didn't want to be the only one doing a pile of questions.
"Obito, you make a good point. Then Guy, it's a thousand for one question," Muyue thought it over and agreed. Might Guy looked at Obito with a bewildered expression, his smile frozen.
"Guy, I know you definitely want better training, right? You don't have to thank me." Obito smiled and gave Might Guy a thumbs-up.
"Mm, Obito, you must also be craving a full-power battle, right?" Might Guy started stretching his legs, warming up, preparing to fight with one hundred and twenty percent seriousness.
Seven minutes later, the battle ended.
"Obito, one hundred questions. Guy, twenty questions." Muyue announced the battle results.
"Obito, I know you want more questions to study, right? You don't have to thank me." Might Guy revealed his sparkling white teeth and gave a thumbs-up.
Obito suddenly wanted to slap himself from seven minutes ago. What was he thinking? Now, both of them were hurt. There were too many questions to finish in one day, so some could be offset by training, and some would have to be done in installments.
Since Rin Nohara said she wanted to find Kakashi to play together, Obito simply asked Might Guy if he wanted to come along. Anyway, it was no longer just a date for him and Rin Nohara, and Might Guy and Kakashi also had a good relationship. To Obito's surprise, Might Guy refused, saying that he had arranged to go for a night run and exercise with Shisui today. However, they did meet up in the evening. While they were playing, they ran into Shisui and Might Guy, who were out running.
"Shisui, believe me, next time try out this jumpsuit of mine. It's perfect for training." Might Guy tried to sell his green jumpsuit. Shisui looked at Might Guy posing and imagined himself in that green jumpsuit. He quickly shook his head and refused; it was too strange.
"Who's that next to Guy?" Kakashi asked, looking at the unfamiliar figure beside Might Guy.
"Our Uchiha genius, someone even more of a genius than you," Obito said deliberately.
"Hmph, then what are you, the Uchiha's dead last?" Kakashi said indifferently.
