**Chapter 9: Terrifying Swordsmanship Talent – A New Teacher?**
More than a month passed in the blink of an eye. The leaves on the streets of Konoha had grown even greener, and the faint chirping of cicadas signaled the arrival of summer.
At the Shimura clan compound, a fierce battle was unfolding.
Swords flashed, and shadows danced.
The clash of blades echoed through the training grounds.
Seated nearby, Uchiha Izumi watched in awe, struggling to follow the rapid movements of the two combatants.
All she could hear was the crisp sound of metal clashing and seeing the blurred figures locked in combat.
Shimura Gengetsu raised his long sword, forcing his opponent to lean back, narrowly avoiding the blade aimed at his throat.
But then, his attack changed mid-motion. The upward slash turned into a sideways strike, and the back of his sword landed cleanly on his opponent's arm.
Clang!
The opponent's weapon fell to the ground, and the battle came to an abrupt end.
Shimura calmly sheathed his sword and exhaled, releasing a slow breath of turbid air.
"You lost, Sensei Nishimura."
Nishimura Kei, the ninja sparring with him, remained silent.
He was an experienced Chūnin—a skilled assassin and swordsman, and an ordinary but competent member of Root.
Despite holding back slightly due to Gengetsu's young age, he still fought seriously.
And yet, he had lost.
In just two weeks, Shimura Gengetsu had absorbed and surpassed everything Nishimura had spent years perfecting.
Truly, the world of geniuses was incomprehensible to ordinary people.
"Master Gengetsu is indeed a prodigy," Nishimura finally admitted, bowing slightly.
"I have nothing left to teach you. I will report to Lord Danzo and request a more suitable teacher for you."
"Thank you," Gengetsu nodded, watching as Nishimura left.
Then, turning to Izumi, he smiled and waved.
"Let's go. I'll take you home."
Izumi jumped down from the ledge, happily hopping over to Gengetsu and taking his hand.
"Hehe, Gengetsu, you're amazing! Sensei Nishimura is a Chūnin!"
"He's just a Chūnin," Gengetsu replied casually as he led her out. "You should aim higher, Izumi."
There was no pride or complacency in his voice—only clarity.
One lesson he had learned was never to judge a ninja's strength based on how they were portrayed in the original story.
Genin?
A ninja who mastered the Three Basic Techniques (Transformation, Clone, and Substitution) well enough to graduate from the Academy. Most Genin weren't even battlefield-ready—they were cannon fodder.
Chūnin?
Typically, they were team captains, stronger than Genin, capable of leading missions, and wielding about ten times the chakra of an ordinary Genin. They could use B-rank ninjutsu proficiently.
This was what real ninjas were like—not like the "Konoha Twelve," who all had bloodlines, clan techniques, or special training.
Defeating an average Chūnin in swordsmanship wasn't impressive.
If Nishimura had gone all out, it still wouldn't have mattered—Gengetsu would have won.

While no special rewards had come in recently, he had gained chakra and other basic attributes through bonds.
And thanks to Izumi's "Mother-in-Law's Expectation" buff, his own training had been remarkably effective.
He had considered moving Izumi out of the Uchiha compound but ultimately decided against it.
The tensions between Konoha and the Uchiha hadn't peaked yet. As a child, his influence was limited, and speaking up wouldn't change anything—at best, her mother would ignore him; at worst, they might draw unnecessary attention.
For now, it was best to wait.
The Uchiha still had a few years left.
At the Root base, Nishimura Kei knelt before Shimura Danzo.
"Lord Danzo, Master Gengetsu's swordsmanship has already surpassed mine. I am no longer qualified to be his teacher."
"So soon?" Danzo was momentarily surprised.
"...Understood. You may leave."
As Nishimura disappeared, Danzo sat in silence.
Gengetsu's growth exceeded even his expectations.
He was pleased—but also troubled.
Finding the next teacher would not be easy.
There weren't many true swordmasters left in Konoha.
Maruboshi Kosuke was one, but his loyalty to the Third Hokage made him unreliable. Danzo had no confidence in recruiting him to teach Gengetsu.
The Yamashiro clan?
A Jōnin among them was known for his swordsmanship, but Danzo dismissed the idea. If Nishimura—his personally selected Root member—was no match for Gengetsu, then Yamashiro Jōnin probably wasn't much better.
The Hōzuki clan was also ruled out for the same reason.
Suddenly, a name surfaced in Danzo's mind.
A young man with an exceptional sword.
Someone from a prestigious background.
A risky choice.
But after careful thought, Danzo made up his mind. For Gengetsu, it was worth it.
The next day—a weekend.
There were no Academy classes, and Gengetsu was just about to go out when he noticed something unusual.
Danzo had returned home.
"Gengetsu," Danzo said with a rare smile. "I've found a new teacher for you. He's not just skilled in swordsmanship—you can also learn ninjutsu and taijutsu from him."
Gengetsu's eyes narrowed with curiosity.
"Who is it?"
Swish!
A sudden breeze swept through the room.
A young man appeared beside Danzo, materializing out of thin air.
Gengetsu turned to look at him—his eyes widening in surprise.
Is it him?!
