Naruto: Reborn as Zoro

The others are surprised when Zoro mentions Orochimaru. They immediately get ready to fight while looking at the broken wall. Then they hear a creepy laugh coming from the broken wall.

"Hehehe, the leader is right. I really can't fool you. They are really lucky that you arrive before they take me back to Konoha or it will be another disaster for them."

Orochimaru comes out of the broken wall with blood dripping from his head and mouth. Some of his ribs are broken from the kick too. Pain has warned all Akatsuki members about Zoro's detection ability, but he was still not prepared for such a powerful attack.

"Minato, get them all out of here. Let me handle this snake." Zoro tells Minato without looking at him.

"Are you going to fight him alone, kid?" Jiraiya looks concerned about Zoro's plan to fight alone.

"Yeah, you'll only get in the way, so get out of here." Zoro answers while unsheathing a sword.

Minato quickly orders the Anbu members to grab everyone. Orochimaru doesn't do anything when everyone holds each other's hands so Minato can teleport them to Konoha.

He can't stop them because Zoro is ready to swing his sword anytime and he knows that unlike Minato or Jiraiya, Zoro won't really care about the prisoners' safety when he attacks.

It doesn't take long for Minato to get everyone out of the hideout. Some Anbu members are still exploring the facility, but they can take care of themselves, so it's not a problem.

But even after Minato and everyone else leaves, Zoro and Orochimaru are still only staring at each other. No one makes a move yet and just stares to judge each other's strength before fighting, until Zoro finally opens his mouth.

"Are you sure you can handle me before your comrades arrive? Zetsu might be fast, but will the others be fast enough to come here from their current locations?"

Orochimaru is surprised because from Zoro's words, he can understand that Zoro also sensed Zetsu's clone that hid deep underground. Zetsu also already told everyone in Akatsuki that Zoro can sense him, but Orochimaru still can hardly believe it because he knows that it's almost impossible to detect Zetsu.

Suddenly, Orochimaru throws a lot of small snakes at Zoro from his sleeves. Zoro slashes all the snakes quickly, but that moment is used by Orochimaru to escape by phasing into the ground like Zetsu and run away.

Zoro isn't worried because he still can sense Orochimaru's presence. He calmly turns to the left and raises his sword high. Then he swings it down, creating a very big slash attack that cuts through the ground and chases Orochimaru.

Because he is underground, Orochimaru can't see the incoming attack. But he can sense the vibration and hear it coming, so he knows that something isn't right and changes his direction.

He moves at the right time because just when he changes direction, the slash attack cuts his previous spot. Orochimaru quickly moves to the surface because he needs air and when he's above the ground, he can finally see the deep wide cut that Zoro made.

Half of his lab has been cut by that slash and if he was late to avoid it, he too would have been cut in half. He has seen how strong Zoro's attack was in Konoha, but now he can feel its power better when he is the target but the bad part is, it doesn't seem to be Zoro's serious attack.

Orochimaru suddenly sees Zoro running on the wall towards him. Zoro jumps and prepares to swing his sword sideways. Orochimaru suddenly wipes the blood on his mouth and slams his hand to the ground.

"Summoning: Rashomon!"

A massive Rashomon Gate appears in front of Zoro to block his slash attack. Orochimaru is sure the Gate can block it and it does. However, the Gate is being pushed back a little, which surprises him.

Zoro is also a little surprised, but then he grins and uses a more serious attack. The previous attack was just a light attack, after all. He approaches the Rashomon Gate and concentrates before swinging his sword down.

Orochimaru is waiting for Zoro to walk around the giant Gate. But to his surprise, Zoro doesn't do it and chooses to cut the Gate instead. He widens his eyes when he sees the giant Gate being cut in half by Zoro.

It surely is surprising because the Rashomon Gate is known as an absolute defense. It is so tough that it can block and redirect the Tailed Beast Bomb. Hashirama used 5 Gates to do it in the past when Madara controlled the 9 Tails.

While Orochimaru knows that it's possible to damage the Gate with a strong attack or topple it over by destroying the ground, he never knows that it's possible for someone to cut the super tough Gate with a sword.

Well, if Kiba and Akamaru could destroy 3 Rashomon Gates when facing Sakon and Ukon when the twins were being reanimated, which doesn't make sense, then there's no reason for Zoro who is much stronger than them to be unable to do it too.

Though the Rashomon Gates must've had varying degrees of toughness because if Hashirama summoned Rashomon Gates of the same level as Sakon and Ukon, then he wouldn't be able to redirect the 9 Tails' Tailed Beast Bomb even with 5 Gates.

Orochimaru also couldn't fully nullify Naruto's Tailed Beast Bomb even though Naruto only had a few tails at that time while Hashirama used them to block Kurama's full-powered Tailed Beast Bomb that was even enhanced by Madara's Susanoo sword, so obviously Hashirama could summon Rashomon Gates that were much stronger than anyone else's.

"I heard that Rashomon Gates were unbelievably solid and tough. Seems like it was just a rumor. Or maybe, only someone like Hashirama could summon the best Rashomon Gates. Still, I hoped that one of the 3 Sannin could pull off something similar. What a disappointment, Orochimaru."

"Have you ever considered that you are the abnormal one here?" Orochimaru is smiling, but his back is full of cold sweat.

".... You know what? You might be right. I'm just that strong." Zoro doesn't shy away from praise, especially if it's from his opponent.

Orochimaru suddenly opens his mouth and a sword is coming out of his mouth. It's his Sword of Kusanagi, the legendary sword. Now Zoro is more interested in the fight because he has heard a lot about the Sword of Kusanagi.

After taking out the sword, Orochimaru points it at Zoro. Then without any sign, the sword suddenly extends very quickly. It reaches Zoro in a split second and Zoro is almost getting hit by the extended sword.

"Shit!" Zoro moves his body to the left hastily and his right sleeve is getting shredded by the sword. It's a good thing that he keeps using his Observation Haki or it will be his stomach that gets stabbed by the extending sword.

Orochimaru's surprise attack really almost works because Zoro didn't expect that he would use it like that immediately. He also doesn't expect that Orochimaru will use that ability again and again.

The snake man keeps extending and recalling the sword at a very high speed to attack Zoro. It's so fast that Zoro has a hard time dodging it even though it's just 1 sword. Furthermore, Orochimaru is really skillful with his sword and he is really observant of Zoro's movements as well.

Orochimaru also swings his sword around while extending it, making it harder for Zoro to dodge. But Zoro actually enjoys it because it's been a long time since he fought a skillful opponent like this. So he just keeps dodging and blocking without trying to attack.

Seeing Zoro dodge and block while grinning actually impresses Orochimaru. He is impressed by how fast Zoro is and seeing how Zoro can easily block or parry his strong attacks also shows how strong Zoro's muscles are.

It makes Orochimaru more excited because he actually wants Zoro's body. This is his biggest reason for tracking Zoro's movement quickly as soon as he heard that Zoro was looking for Otogakure's hideouts.

With his brain, Orochimaru immediately understood that Zoro was sent by Konoha to find the kidnapped kids. So he gathered them and hid among them because he wanted to capture Zoro then take over Zoro's body.

Unbeknownst to Zoro, he has become one of Orochimaru's targets like hos Sasuke became a target in the story. All because of his incredibly strong physique. Orochimaru believes that if he can take over Zoro's body, then he won't need to move into another body for a really long time.

After all, from all the information that he has gathered about Zoro, Orochimaru concludes that Zoro's body is as strong as the Tailed Beasts. So now, Zoro has become the target of the pervert snake man.
