Naruto: Rewriting the Ninja World

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Shadow Emperor Uchiha Kazushi

The next morning, in the Hokage Tower conference room.

"What's Uchiha Kazushi playing at? Is he seriously making us wait like this?" one of Meide's attendants snapped angrily from behind him.

"Quiet! We're from the Hyuga clan—a prestigious family. We must show some composure," Meide said sternly while sipping his tea, signaling his men to stay calm.

"All right now, please be considerate. Our clan leader Kazushi has been tied up with urgent business at Commercial Street lately."

Third Hokage set the tone for the meeting, though his current expression was anything but pleasant.

"Creeeeak…"

Just then, the office door burst open, and every gaze in the room snapped toward the entrance.

"My sincere apologies, everyone. A building on Commercial Street failed inspection, so I went ahead and handled it personally—tore the place down myself."

Still speaking as he walked in, Kazushi quickly strode to his seat and sat down with swaggering confidence. He wore a long black coat, his hair neatly styled in a slicked-back formal look. His shoulders rose slightly where the coat's fabric gathered, leaning back with his elbows resting comfortably on the chair arms as his hands dangled loosely—he radiated sheer dominance.

His attendants stood neatly behind him—crisp white dress shirts peeking beneath snug, short black Uchiha coats zipped up to their waists, bright red ties dangling from their collars, oversized sunglasses hiding their eyes as they stood upright with hands clasped behind their backs.

This entire look had been specially crafted last night by Chief Designer Shen, who drew inspiration from the "suit-wearing thugs" of his past life while blending in Uchiha elements. The dramatic long coat Kazushi wore was modeled after classic military greatcoats.

Now *that* was an intimidating sight. Didn't anyone notice how absolutely stunned into silence everyone else was?

"…"

Everyone in the room remained completely unimpressed.

Seeing this reaction, Kazushi's flair for drama kicked in. He casually lifted his left hand still resting on the chair back, giving a signal. Immediately, his left attendant produced a cigarette from a box in his pocket and held it to Kazushi's lips.

Kazushi opened his mouth and took the cigarette between his teeth. Then his right attendant bent down smartly and brought out a lighter.

With a *click*, the flame appeared precisely at the tip. Kazushi inhaled deeply, igniting the cigarette. After his attendants respectfully stepped back, he exhaled an elegant smoke ring.

Smoke instantly began to fill the room.

The Hyuga representatives bristled, ready to confront him—but were cut off mid-thought by a sudden slap on the table.

"Bang!"

With a sharp slam on the table, Kazushi barked at his men, "What did I tell you about manners? Do any of you understand basic etiquette? Am I the only one smoking here? Come on, everyone grab a cigarette and light up!"

Seated at the head of the table, Third Hokage inwardly marveled. At first, he'd assumed this Kazushi would be easy to manipulate with his serious demeanor, but instead, Kazushi had seized control immediately upon arrival, cleverly interrupting the Hyuga challenge. Now he was definitely gaining momentum.

"No thank you, I don't smoke. Clan Leader Kazushi, perhaps you'd do well to lay off the cigarettes a bit. They're not exactly doing wonders for your health, after all," Meide politely countered with scholarly grace.

Unmoved by the words, Kazushi inhaled again before finally responding through a slow stream of smoke, "Afraid of what? Ninja bodies aren't that fragile!"

"Could it be that Clan Leader Mingde looks down on my brand of cigarettes?"

"Impressive! He's a real expert!" the Third Hokage mused inwardly, already looking forward to watching the spectacle unfold.

"What's gotten into this old man today? He gave me a cold welcome right from the start and kept pushing the provocation further. Could he possibly be here to declare war?" Mingde calculated silently before opening his mouth to respond, but his opponent attacked first.

"Tsk. It's understandable if Clan Leader Mingde thinks poorly of my cigarettes," Kazushi said with a dejected smile, like he was genuinely disappointed.

The sharp words pierced straight into Mingde's heart, leaving him with only one thought: crush him!

But as clan leader, he quickly regained composure and carefully considered his next move. "This old fool must have something up his sleeve; otherwise, he wouldn't dare act this recklessly."

"Well, if you're not objecting, I'll take that as agreement!" Kazushi pretended to sigh dramatically before addressing Mingde directly. "Clan Leader Mingde, we're all civilized men. If there are any grievances, let's just air them out face-to-face. Why drag Lord Third into this?" After smirking at Mingde, he turned solemnly toward Lord Third. "My sincerest apologies, Lord Third. We elders always end up handling the fallout from their antics, don't we?"

The Third Hokage found the whole situation rather strange, yet he politely responded to Kazushi's apology. "No problem at all. You know how wild kids can be—they tend to act out. Besides, who doesn't get into trouble in their childhood? It'll be a good opportunity to renovate the school anyway."

"Exactly! You're absolutely right, Lord Third! My mischievous son claimed the school was so rundown that even touching a door would collapse it. When I heard that, I flew into a rage. When we built the school, we Uchiha made sure to personally inspect every detail."

"But then how did your son manage to set the entire school on fire?" Mingde seized the opportunity to counterattack.

"Ahem," Kazushi theatrically cleared his throat before responding with a pained expression. "My irresponsible youngest son insisted the place was already beyond repair, saying he could easily ignite it with just one Fire Release technique. Naturally, I didn't believe him... until he actually almost burned down the entire school!"

Both the Third Hokage and Hyuga clearly saw through his nonsense, yet Mingde was about to refute when once again someone stole the conversation.

"Lord Third, please punish me! I failed my duty overseeing the Police Force, allowing the school to fall into disrepair over time. Since becoming Uchiha clan head, I've worked diligently day and night. The village entrusted us with such a sacred mission, yet I failed to fulfill it properly. Whatever punishment you deem appropriate, I shall accept without question." With those words, Kazushi lowered his head while leaning on the table.

"Nonsense! Clan Head Kazushi, you're taking this too seriously. Let's consider the matter of the school settled."

Though Lord Third saw clearly that the other party intended to play the victim till the very end, he couldn't keep pressing forward now that the man had formally admitted fault—doing so would make him seem petty.

"My deepest thanks, Lord Third. Once home, I'll immediately put that brat under house arrest. He's truly becoming uncontrollably wild!"

"Now now, Clan Head Kazushi, children should be taught with patience. Otherwise, they might grow resentful which certainly won't help their development."

Believing everything originated from childish retaliation, Lord Third definitely didn't want another incident like this. If last time the child targeted the school, who knows if he'd dare attempt to burn down the Hokage Tower itself next time.

Kazushi was astonished. He hadn't expected the Third Hokage to let his troublesome kid off the hook so easily, which left him frantically apologizing and thanking the other party.

This one… that's Meide on level one, Kazushi on level two, and the Third Hokage flying high on level five. Meanwhile, some chaos magnet somehow rocketed straight into the stratosphere.

As Meide listened to the conversation veer further and further off track—eventually landing on child-rearing practices—he couldn't help but feel a surge of anger. After calming himself slightly, he finally countered sharply: "Chief Kazushi, I've heard rumors… Is it true that your youngest son has improper intentions toward my daughter?"

"Here we go. Took you long enough." After silently musing over this, Kazushi spread his hands wide: "Improper intentions? Just because two kids held hands does that mean they've got some agenda? Chief Meide, surely your views aren't that conservative? The Uchiha are quite open-minded actually. How does that saying go again? Freedom! Love is love. It's all about what they feel for each other. Since your daughter didn't even resist, how about we set up a childhood betrothal? A promise pact to symbolize the lasting friendship between our families!"

Kazushi had slightly altered the lines he'd rehearsed with Shen last night. Even Mr. Stoic here has caught a bit of Shen's flair.
