Chapter 32: Preparation
You should know that Minato's team is exceptionally strong. Minato himself surpasses most jonin in skill. He graduated at the age of five and became a chunin at six, even developing his own A-rank ninjutsu. Kakashi, a genius ninja, exceeds the typical chunin and can rival some jonin.
Even Obito and Rin are capable ninjas. As members of a major village like Konoha, their strength might be more than some rogue ninjas.
With a captain far stronger than a jonin and team members nearing special jonin level, this team's setup outshines Dosuke's scouting squad.
If not for the presence of a Sannin's disciple, a Uchiha clansman, and the son of Konoha's hero, this group would typically handle the most dangerous missions, not a standard A-rank escort task.
Jiraiya, as Minato's teacher, believes few in the ninja world can defeat Minato, though almost no one dares attempt to capture him. The Flying Thunder God Technique gives Minato a nearly unbeatable advantage.
This mission has proven difficult for Minato, despite his Flying Thunder God Technique, drawing Jiraiya's attention.
"That's right, teacher. Have you seen this child?" Minato asked, pointing to Fuu, who slept peacefully beside him.
"This child's name is Fuu, and she may be a potential jinchuriki," Minato added.
"The A-rank escort mission we took was to protect a caravan from the Land of Waterfalls, requested by this manor's owner, Mr. Nagaike."
"While heading to the Land of Waterfalls, I spotted a torture unit from the Hidden Sand Village in the Land of Fire. With Kakashi on the team, I asked him to lead the escort while I investigated further. That's when we encountered Dosuke and his team retreating."
"Thanks to Minato, our team made it through," Dosuke said, backing up Minato's story.
Minato went on, "After sending Dosuke and the others back to the village, I rejoined the team. We fought off two waves of rogue ninjas during that time, then found this child."
"A chunin who fled from the Land of Waterfalls brought her. He was near death when we met, kept alive by something called Hero Water." Minato pulled a gourd from his ninja bag and laid a map on the table.
"This is the Hero Water the chunin gave me, along with a map to Ryugan Village. He begged us to take this child there."
"Along the way, ninjas chased and attacked her."
"Though they wore no forehead protectors, their tactics suggested Anbu from a major ninja village, often using Earth Release. I drove them off, but I got injured protecting her." Minato lifted his arm, showing a bandage under his torn coat.
"I suspect a ninja that strong might be from the Tsuchikage's elite guard."
"Why would a potential jinchuriki leave her village?" Jiraiya frowned. Usually, a village keeps a jinchuriki as a key asset.
"The chunin said they escaped in secret but were hunted by ninjas. If capture wasn't their aim, she'd have been killed by now."
"Is their target this potential jinchuriki?" Jiraiya asked, looking at the sleeping child.
"Yes, teacher. I planned for Kakashi to lead Rin and Obito to send her back to Takigakure first. Since it involves a tailed beast, I'll look into the attackers' identity."
"During the fight, I marked their leader with Gama's secretion."
"I'll track that group of ninjas. You're hurt, so take these kids and send Fuu back. Issues tied to a village's power should be resolved at their source to avoid trouble," Jiraiya said, glancing at Minato's injured arm.
Seeing Minato about to protest, Jiraiya raised his hand. "My infiltration skills beat yours. Whether they're from Iwagakure or not, I'll handle it. Don't worry."
"That's a heavy burden, teacher," Minato said, accepting Jiraiya's decision.
"It's fine. I'll leave this kid with you too," Jiraiya said, pointing to Dosuke.
"I'll look after Dosuke," Minato said, glancing at Dosuke sitting nearby.
Minato and Jiraiya's discussion concluded.
Obito and Rin, sitting aside, couldn't wait to sit next to Dosuke. Though Kakashi stayed still, he glanced over.
"Dosuke, listen up. When you see me later, call me senior, got it?" Obito stood with hands on his hips, bending down to look at Dosuke.
Hearing Obito, Kakashi smirked slightly. Obito glared at him.
Obito, sitting up, looked at Kakashi and said calmly, "By seniority, Minato and I are both Sannin's disciples, same generation. So, you should call me uncle."
"(⊙o⊙)..." Obito froze, stunned by the logic.
"Brother Minato, please guide me," Dosuke said to Minato beside him.
"With you joining, our team's safety is assured," Minato said with a smile.
Having a medical ninja greatly boosts the team's survival.
Just as Jiraiya was about to speak, an old voice came from outside, "Minato-sama, my master has prepared dinner. Please join us."
"Thank you, Steward Kitamura," Minato said, walking to the door, opening the sliding door, and thanking the old steward.
"Teacher, let's go. We've been troubling Mr. Nagaike for two days. Minato said to Jiraiya and the others.
Dinner was a lavish feast in the manor's main hall, arranged by the Nagaike family with dancers enhancing the banquet.
Obito sat aside, watching Jiraiya drink happily between two dancers. "Dosuke, are you sure that's Minato-sensei's master, Jiraiya, the Konoha Sannin? Did you come with the wrong person?"
"That should be Jiraiya-sama, one of the Sannin," Dosuke said, watching Jiraiya drink. *Could Jiraiya have been swapped?* Dosuke thought, recalling Tsunade's transformation to avoid debts, which wasn't entirely surprising.
