Chapter 265: Chapter 264 : They Have Already Seen You!!
An Ideal Land Far from the Mundane World?
When the little boy described it, Otsutsuki Isshiki found it quite laughable.
This place was full of strange and eerie things, with an Demonic Statue of the Outer Path wrapped in blood-red branches. How could this possibly be called an 'ideal land'?
But Isshiki's experience kept him from speaking out. After quickly calming down, he first tried to use a 'space portal' to see if he could leave this bizarre space.
At any time, having an 'escape route' was always the best choice.
However, as expected, the space portal couldn't be activated.
This strange and odd place seemed to have a special power that suppressed spatial travel.
Isshiki frowned. After a brief silence, his gaze turned to the little boy beside him, and he slowly spoke: "You said your name is Otsutsuki Toneri. Does that mean you're from the Otsutsuki clan?"
"Yes, but not just me…"
Toneri closed his eyes tightly, nodded slightly, and pointed toward the town. "Everyone here is from the Otsutsuki clan."
All of them were from the Otsutsuki clan. Ridiculous. Isshiki sneered in his mind. They were merely hybrids, products of interbreeding with humans. They inherited a small part of the bloodline but didn't even have the Otsutsuki's signature 'horns.' How dare they call themselves Otsutsuki?
Of course, there was no need to say this out loud. Let these 'hybrids' keep using the Otsutsuki surname for now.
"I didn't expect anyone still remembers the 'Otsutsuki' name."
Toneri turned to look at him and asked, "And you? Outsider. I've introduced myself, so who are you? Why did you come to the Moon?"
Isshiki maintained a calm expression and replied, "I am Otsutsuki Isshiki, a descendant of the Sage of Six Paths. I discovered that someone summoned the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, so I came to the Moon to see what happened and why the seal of my ancestors failed."
"I see… so you're a descendant of Hagoromo?"
His words were filled with ambiguity—some true, some false. Toneri couldn't tell the difference, but he nodded in understanding and said lightly, "No wonder you know about the Otsutsuki clan and the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path (Gedo Statue). But it doesn't matter. The Ten Tails, the seal… those things, they're no longer important."
No longer important?
Isshiki furrowed his brow and asked, "Then… what are those strange branches?"
"Those things are a gift from the 'gods.'"
When the monk spoke this word, a sincere faith appeared on his face: "They are from the great beings in the starry sky, who saved our clan from our empty, meaningless task. They pulled us from the endless hell and allowed us to escape the turmoil of the world, so that we could rest in this holy land."
The so-called 'gift' didn't really seem like a gift at all, no matter how you looked at it.
At that moment, a long bell rang from the town.
Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
After the third chime, the surrounding pink mist seemed to grow thicker.
"It's starting."
The monk looked toward the town, now shrouded in mist, his face gradually forming a faint smile. It was as if he was waiting for something, or perhaps even craving it.
"What's starting?"
The thickening pink mist made Otsutsuki Isshiki uneasy, giving him a sense of impending dread.
However, the monk seemed to ignore his words, almost as if he were drawn to the sound of the bells. He stepped forward, slowly walking toward the town.
Otsutsuki Isshiki found himself facing a dilemma. Should he follow the monk into the town or stay outside, where the mist was becoming more oppressive?
He looked around, and deep within the thickening mist, an invisible fear seemed to wrap around his heart, choking the air out of him and making it hard to breathe.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Isshiki gritted his teeth and followed the monk's footsteps.
From deep within the mist, faint groaning sounds could be heard.
Byakugan!
With veins bulging around his eyes, Isshiki activated his Byakugan, shifting into his unique black-and-white vision, hoping to see what was hidden in the mist.
The area, which had seemed empty before, now appeared to have many blurry, indistinct figures. They seemed like ghosts, wandering near them like lifeless puppets, embracing each other and repeatedly engaging in acts that pushed the limits of the human body.
The groaning from earlier came from these figures. The atmosphere was filled with a kind of indulgent passion that seemed to lure out the desires buried deep within.
But at that very moment...
It was as though the ghostly figures sensed his gaze. They abruptly stopped their actions in unison.
Then, the eyes of hundreds of figures turned toward him.
Vroom!
Otsutsuki Isshiki suddenly felt a chill run through his body, his scalp tingling with unease.
At that moment, Otsutsuki Toneri, who was ahead, seemed to sense something. He suddenly stopped, turned around, and faced Otsutsuki Isshiki with an icy expression.
Although his eyes were tightly shut, there was a strange feeling as if he was staring directly at you: "Did you see them?"
"What do you mean?"
Otsutsuki Isshiki was confused, but the gaze of those 'ghosts' around him made him feel extremely uncomfortable.
"Did you see them?"
Toneri repeated, his tone now colder.
"I saw them," Otsutsuki Isshiki hesitated and nodded. "Those things... it seems like they saw me too. What do we do now?"
"From the moment you 'saw' them," Toneri's face showed an unfamiliar coldness. "'They' have seen you as well."
The figures, barely visible like ghosts, seemed to have 'seen' him too. They let out meaningless shrieks and struggled to break free from their 'union,' like mindless beasts, rushing toward him from all directions.
"Damn it!"
Otsutsuki Isshiki's pupils contracted, and he cursed inwardly. He shouted, "Hurry, run! Those ghostly things are coming after us!"
Toneri casually said, "Unfortunately, anyone who has seen 'them' cannot leave this fog."
"Why didn't you tell me something so important earlier?!" Otsutsuki Isshiki was both shocked and angry. It was then that he noticed the 'ghosts' were only targeting him, completely ignoring Toneri beside him, as if they only attacked those who had 'seen' them.
After a brief silence, Toneri tilted his head and answered, "Because you never asked me."
"?!"
Otsutsuki Isshiki's veins popped in his forehead. He was so angry he almost wanted to strangle the brat.
Toneri politely bowed, then said, "Well then, farewell, Otsutsuki Isshiki."
"Wait, wait!"
Otsutsuki Isshiki began to feel afraid. Left alone in this ghostly place, who knew what else would show up. He shouted, "What are these things? Don't leave, come back here!"
However, Toneri paid him no attention, quickened his pace, and disappeared into the fog.
