Upon hearing Captain Daiku's words, the Konoha shinobi around him were utterly shocked, exclaiming in disbelief.
"Captain Daiku, what are you saying!? Wood Release!?"
Captain Daiku's eyes remained fixed on the grand spectacle before him, his face showing a trace of reverence as he spoke slowly.
"Yes... this is the legendary Wood Release Ninjutsu, said to be wielded only by the First Hokage himself!"
As his words fell, the expressions of the Konoha shinobi instantly shifted. They turned sharply to look at the scene, unable to believe what they were hearing.
"That's impossible! Didn't you just say that only the First Hokage could use Wood Release? If this is Wood Release, then who in the world is this person!?"
Despite their skepticism, Captain Daiku maintained his reverent expression and spoke softly.
"I don't know what connection he has to the First Hokage, but there's no doubt they share an intimate bond unknown to us. If you don't believe me, take a good look at his face. You'll feel it too."
The words caught the shinobi off guard, leaving them momentarily speechless. They stared intently at the figure standing atop the massive tree, imposing and unwavering against the wind.
"Where... where have I seen that face before...? Could it be!?"
Shimei furrowed her brows tightly, her voice trembling as she murmured. Suddenly, her eyes widened in realization, and she gasped.
"Have you remembered, Shimei? Where have you seen him before?" a shinobi beside her asked urgently.
Shimei's breathing quickened as her gaze fixated on the figure standing above. Her voice trembled as she replied.
"The Hokage Rock in the village... he looks exactly like the First Hokage!"
Her revelation left everyone stunned, their faces filled with disbelief.
Captain Daiku nodded gently. He, too, had only recently made the connection between the figure and the First Hokage.
"Could this young man before us truly be the First Hokage? That's impossible!" muttered a few young shinobi in disbelief.
Hearing their doubt, Captain Daiku's expression turned solemn as he spoke slowly.
"Unlikely, yes. But there must be an extraordinary connection between them. We'll need to wait until the battle is over to question him."
The group nodded, their expressions complex.
Far away, atop the massive tree, Nawaki stood calmly, his gaze cold as he looked at the distant Iwagakure shinobi.
"Who... who is this guy!?" the Iwa captain muttered angrily, his face grim.
Nawaki's appearance had completely derailed their plans, his overwhelming power far exceeding their expectations. Faced with this reality, the Iwa shinobi captain could only prioritize preserving their forces.
"All Iwa shinobi, retreat immediately! Preserve our strength!" he commanded.
The Iwa shinobi collectively sighed in relief. They knew that facing someone who had so easily defeated their strongest comrades would result in devastating losses.
As the Iwa forces began withdrawing into the forest, the Konoha shinobi relaxed slightly. However, Nawaki, standing high above, furrowed his brows and murmured.
"Running away, are they?"
Recalling Aizen's instructions, Nawaki began forming a series of intricate hand seals. Yet, midway through, he abruptly stopped, his gaze sharp as he looked toward the dark forest ahead.
"Looks like I won't need to act after all," he murmured.
---
Within the Forest.
"Shhh... shhh... shhh..."
The Iwa shinobi were rapidly retreating through the woods.
The captain's face was grim as he moved, his mind racing.
"To encounter such a formidable opponent... there's no choice but to retreat. We know too little about Las Noches' forces. If only we had known of this man's strength earlier..."
"Ahhh!"
Suddenly, a scream echoed from up ahead.
"What happened!?" the captain barked.
Under the pale moonlight, in a shadowy and silent corner of the forest, a young man clad in a black-and-white uniform strolled calmly. One hand rested in his pocket, while the other held a gleaming blade.
Behind him lay the lifeless bodies of several Iwa shinobi, blood pooling beneath them and glistening ominously in the moonlight.
The youth's skin was a bone-like pale, his face expressionless. His deep emerald eyes carried an eerie quality, tinged with melancholy.
"Shhh... shhh... shhh..."
A group of Iwa shinobi arrived, first seeing their fallen comrades and then the calm youth before them. Their expressions turned grim.
"Another one of Las Noches' men!?"
"Who are you, and why did you attack us? Las Noches has a treaty with Iwagakure!" one of the Iwa shinobi demanded angrily.
The youth tilted his head slightly, his gaze indifferent. Just this small motion caused the shinobi to shiver, their anger dissipating into regret.
Without immediate action, the youth spoke in a flat tone after a moment of thought.
"Lord Aizen has ordered it. Las Noches' cooperation with Iwagakure is over. He has already assisted you in containing Konoha's top fighters. As it stands, Konoha is on the brink of collapse. The terms agreed upon with the Tsuchikage have been fulfilled. Now, Las Noches will join this feast."
The Iwa shinobi's faces darkened at his words. One of them could no longer hold back his anger.
"Is this how you repay us? All the destructive work was done by Iwa and Suna shinobi! What did you even do!? Are you breaking the agreement!?"
Unbothered, the youth's face remained impassive as he replied coldly.
"If you're done speaking, rest in peace."
The Iwa shinobi's faces twisted in fury as they roared.
"Las Noches fool! Don't think you can act so arrogantly! If you start a conflict with us, you'll suffer great losses!"
"Your master Aizen wouldn't approve of such rash actions. Think carefully!"
At these words, the youth lifted his head slightly, his emerald eyes cold and emotionless.
"How dare ants presume to understand the will of my king? To insult my king... is to deserve death."
With his words, his figure vanished in an instant.
"Slash!" "Slash!" "Slash!"
Under the moonlight, streaks of white light flashed through the air. Blood sprayed across the Iwa shinobi's chests as their bodies trembled and fell back, their faces etched with disbelief and pain.
"Who... who are you!?" one of the fallen shinobi gasped as blood seeped from his lips.
The youth calmly sheathed his blade and turned slightly to glance back at them.
"Ulquiorra Cifer. First of the Espada."
"Es...pada..."
Their words faltered, the light fading from their eyes as life slipped away.
Unmoved, Ulquiorra turned his gaze forward and spoke flatly.
"Come out. By Lord Aizen's order, I'm here to eliminate all obstacles."
From within the forest, the Iwa captain and the hidden shinobi grimaced at his words.
