"Whoosh—"
The fierce wind howled as Ōnoki descended from midair. His robes billowed with the gusts, his piercing gaze fixed on the scene below.
When he noticed the gathered Konoha shinobi, his eyes narrowed slightly. His voice, though aged, carried authority.
"The Sannin of Konoha!?"
Hearing his words, Jiraiya and his companions knew they had been spotted. Their expressions grew grim. Jiraiya stepped forward resolutely, placing himself between Ōnoki and the group.
"You all go ahead and leave. I'll hold him off for as long as I can!"
Without waiting for a reply, he took another step forward, standing firmly against the approaching threat. His unwavering stance met Ōnoki's sharp gaze.
Ōnoki let out a cold chuckle, his voice steeped in sarcasm.
"Interesting. It seems Konoha's Sannin aren't complete fools. At least you realize you stand no chance against me. But it's a pity. None of you will escape here today. I've already set up a barrier; everyone here will meet their end."
Hearing this, the faces of Jiraiya and the others turned pale.
At that moment.
"Zzzzzt—"
The sharp crackle of electricity interrupted the tense silence. A moment later, A, clad in his Lightning Release Chakra Mode, appeared beside them. His expression was solemn, his dark face tight with resolve.
"Don't worry. I'm here."
Jiraiya and Tsunade looked at A in surprise. Before they could speak, Minato stepped forward to explain.
"Jiraiya-sensei, Tsunade-senpai, this is A, son of the Third Raikage. He's our ally."
Their initial wariness eased slightly as they turned to study A more closely.
At his age, to master Lightning Release to such a degree... He truly is the Third Raikage's son.
Ōnoki's expression darkened as he looked at A. A smirk tugged at his lips as he sneered.
"The Raikage's whelp, huh? Not bad. Too bad it won't save you. You'll die here like the rest."
A met his taunts without flinching, his gaze firm and unyielding.
By now, the battle across the field had subsided slightly. Shinobi from each faction regrouped with their comrades, retreating into their respective camps.
On the vast plateau of the rocky mountain, three distinct factions emerged.
The battlefield was a mess of craters and scars under the pale moonlight. Deep fissures filled with bubbling magma snaked across the terrain, their ominous hissing adding to the eerie atmosphere.
In the air, Ōnoki and Rasa floated calmly, surrounded by their respective Stone and Sand forces, whose eyes gleamed with anticipation and bloodlust.
Opposite them stood the Mist shinobi, led by Yagura and Fuguki. Outnumbered and outpowered, they had assumed a defensive position.
Meanwhile, Konoha's forces—Jiraiya, Tsunade, Minato, A, Bee, and others—formed the strongest contingent on the field. Yet the oppressive presence of Ōnoki loomed over them like an unmovable stormcloud.
The battlefield grew silent. The three factions eyed each other warily, each waiting for someone else to make the first move.
Among the Mist ninja, Fuguki glanced around the field nervously. His small, beady eyes swept over the opposing forces before he whispered to Yagura.
"Yagura, this isn't looking good. Both the Stone and Cloud ninja have preserved much of their strength. If we're not careful, the Mist could end up as everyone's primary target."
His usual arrogance had vanished after his defeat by A. Now he carefully evaluated their situation, avoiding rash decisions.
Yagura's expression remained unreadable. His voice was calm as he replied.
"Don't worry. The Tsuchikage's first target won't be the Mist. As long as he focuses on Konoha and the Cloud, we'll have a chance."
His pale violet eyes flickered briefly toward the Konoha forces.
"Konoha and the Cloud have retained more strength than anticipated. But it doesn't matter. Our goal here was simply to weaken them. If we can't gain an advantage, we'll retreat."
Hearing this, Fuguki let out a quiet sigh of relief. A direct fight against both these forces... not ideal.
Meanwhile, Jiraiya and his group were also discussing their next move.
"The Tsuchikage is our biggest threat," Jiraiya muttered grimly. "If we can't stop him, our numbers won't matter. But he's hovering in midair. We can't even get close to him, let alone restrict his attacks."
The others wore similarly troubled expressions.
Suddenly, Minato's blue eyes gleamed with determination.
"If it's just a matter of getting close, I might have a way."
Tsunade looked at him, startled. Then understanding dawned on her face.
"You mean—"
Minato nodded calmly.
"Exactly. With my Flying Thunder God Technique, I should be able to get close to the Tsuchikage unexpectedly. After that... it'll be up to you all to handle him."
A's voice broke through the conversation.
"You can get close to the Tsuchikage?"
"If that's true," A continued, his eyes narrowing with intensity, "I might be able to strike before he has time to react."
The Konoha shinobi exchanged glances, surprised by A's confidence. Minato, however, met his gaze steadily.
"I can use my space-time ninjutsu to teleport us both to him. The rest is up to you."
A gave a sharp nod, his eyes glinting.
So it really is a space-time technique. Impressive.
Minato turned back to Jiraiya and Tsunade.
"Sensei, Tsunade-senpai, A and I will focus on Ōnoki. The rest of you should deal with Rasa and the Sand forces."
Jiraiya hesitated, concern etched on his face.
"But Minato, you—"
Before he could finish, Minato interrupted with a warm, reassuring smile.
"Don't worry, Sensei. It's my turn to protect the village now."
Jiraiya's expression wavered between worry and pride before he finally nodded.
As Minato and A began to move forward, Tsunade glanced at Jiraiya, her tone soft.
"You've raised a fine student, Jiraiya."
Jiraiya's face relaxed into a bittersweet smile.
"You're right, Tsunade. Minato... he's an exceptional student."
Suddenly.
"Boom—"
The ground shook violently, throwing everyone off balance.
In the center of the field, a massive crater split the earth. Billowing smoke and dust surged outward, blanketing the area.
"Boom—"
"Boom—"
Deep fissures widened, and the magma within churned and roared as if ready to erupt.
Amid the chaos, all eyes turned toward the center of the disturbance.
From within the rising smoke, two silhouettes emerged, their forms hazy but unmistakable.
The battlefield froze as everyone strained to see through the haze.
"Who are they... appearing at a time like this?"
