Naruto: Starting with Infinite Chakra

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: A Hands-On Lesson

"Relax. With me as your teacher, you've got nothing to worry about. I guarantee you'll master this."

Jiraiya exuded confidence in his ability to teach Tsunade.

The Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique was something he had nearly perfected. Tsunade's talent wasn't lacking either—her biggest issue was her impatience. If not for that, she might've already grasped the basics by now.

"If I can't teach you this, then you might as well give up on learning it altogether," Jiraiya added with a teasing tone.

Before Tsunade could respond, Jiraiya's stomach growled loudly.

"But before we begin, how about some breakfast? I came rushing here to teach you and didn't even get to eat," he said, patting his stomach with an exaggerated grin.

Tsunade's lips twitched as she recalled Jiraiya and Orochimaru's infamous appetites. She couldn't help but wonder if inviting Jiraiya over for lessons was a mistake. However, she didn't turn him down and quickly ordered breakfast to be prepared.

Soon, two maids brought out a spread of delicious food.

'This is the life,' Jiraiya sighed in satisfaction as he dug in. It wasn't the beautiful maids he cared about—he just dreamed of starting every day with a hearty meal like this.

"Can we get started now?" Tsunade asked impatiently once Jiraiya finished.

"Of course. I'll teach you step by step today and make sure you master it," Jiraiya replied, wiping his mouth with a napkin offered by one of the maids.

"No need for you to get all handsy," Tsunade warned sharply, her tone laced with threat. "Just point out what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it. If you dare cross the line, I'll make sure you regret it."

Jiraiya raised his hands defensively.

"No funny business, I promise! I just want to help you learn faster. But since you don't trust me, I'll keep my distance," he said, a bit disheartened.

He sighed inwardly. This wasn't how these situations usually played out in those "teacher-student" films he had secretly watched. In those, the student would be the one making bold requests, not the other way around. Yet here he was, getting rejected outright despite offering to help. Life truly was unfair.

Tsunade wasted no time diving into practice, but as the day wore on, her frustration grew.

"You've got to be kidding me! With me here guiding you, how can you still not get it?" Jiraiya exclaimed as the sky turned dark. It seemed he had underestimated the challenge.

He had been genuinely patient and attentive in his teaching, and Tsunade had been earnest in her practice. Yet, for some reason, she couldn't grasp even the basics of the technique.

Maybe Tsunade just wasn't suited for this kind of advanced ninjutsu. In hindsight, her true potential lay in medical ninjutsu and utilizing her monstrous strength. Asking her to master something so complex might be a bit too much.

After all, in the original timeline, Tsunade's most notable techniques were medical-related. When it came to combat, she relied almost entirely on her overwhelming physical power. At this point in her life, she hadn't yet developed her medical focus or realized her aptitude for it.

The leadership in Konoha also didn't prioritize training medical ninjas. They saw no value in investing resources into non-combat roles when those resources could go toward offensive forces. Injuries were simply regarded as an inevitable cost of war. If a shinobi could recover, great. If not, their sacrifice was seen as noble proof of their loyalty to the village.

It wasn't until Tsunade rose to prominence and relentlessly advocated for medical teams that Konoha began assigning a medical ninja to every squad. Dan Kato's shared vision for the importance of medical ninjutsu was one of the reasons Tsunade grew fond of him.

"Clearly, you're not trying hard enough to teach me. That's the only explanation," Tsunade finally snapped, glaring at Jiraiya.

"Come on, Tsunade! That's not fair—I've been pouring my heart into teaching you!" Jiraiya shot back, genuinely offended.

"I don't care. You promised me this morning that I'd learn it today, and if you don't follow through, you're not leaving this training ground," Tsunade declared with a dangerous glint in her eyes.

"Fine, but you'll need to let me guide your chakra directly. Otherwise, you'll never learn this technique in your lifetime," Jiraiya replied seriously. He was reaching the end of his patience.

Tsunade hesitated before finally nodding. "Alright, but if you try anything funny, you'll regret it."

Taking a deep breath, Jiraiya moved behind her and placed his hands over hers, guiding her to hold the shuriken properly. Her hands were soft, and Jiraiya couldn't help but think how delicate they felt.

Tsunade flinched slightly, her breathing hitching as her cheeks turned pink. Her heart raced—it was the first time she had been in such close contact with a man.

"Focus and clear your mind. Gather your chakra and follow my lead," Jiraiya instructed. For once, his thoughts were entirely pure. He truly wanted to help her succeed.

If she didn't learn the technique now, not only would his efforts go to waste, but any accidental physical contact would undoubtedly provoke her wrath. However, if she succeeded, she might forgive a minor slip-up later.

Jiraiya carefully guided his chakra into her hands, helping her direct it into the shuriken. If this method didn't work, he'd have to accept that not all talents could be taught.

"Your chakra needs to flow steadily and calmly—something I've repeated over and over. Don't make me keep saying it."

"When forming the shadow clone, don't overload the shuriken with chakra, or it'll explode instead of splitting. Memorize this. If you forget again, I swear I'll remind you with a smack."

"...Understood," Tsunade muttered, suppressing her irritation.

After several more attempts, Tsunade finally succeeded. She threw the shuriken, formed the seals, and watched as it split into two mid-flight, both hitting the target and reducing the training post to splinters.

"Finally!" Jiraiya exclaimed, more relieved than Tsunade herself. He nearly shed tears of joy.

If she hadn't learned it today, he might've given up entirely. And without her learning it, how else was he supposed to sneak in any harmless mischief?
