Naruto: Starting with Snatching the Mangekyō Sharingan

Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Ryūchi Cave

"There's nothing unusual. Sasuke's condition is fine," said Mikoto, a hint of concern in her tone. "However, because the Eight Trigrams Seal converts the Nine-Tails' chakra into his own, Sasuke now has an enormous chakra reserve. I'm worried he might struggle to control it as he grows."

Itachi glanced at his younger brother and softly asked, "Mother, does Sasuke really have that much chakra?"

Mikoto smiled warmly. "Yes, compared to you, his chakra is overwhelming, all thanks to the Nine-Tails."

"Don't worry," said Fugaku in his deep voice. "Once Sasuke awakens his Sharingan, control won't be an issue."

Fugaku's expectations for his sons were sky-high. His eldest was already exceptional, and he was confident his youngest would not fall short.

"This isn't a major problem," added Akira. "Early on, a lack of control is understandable. As he matures, his mental strength will grow naturally, and his mastery will improve alongside it."

...

Elsewhere, Amegakure, Land of Rain

Nagato and Uchiha Hikaru sought out Orochimaru to convey their intentions.

"You wish to learn senjutsu?" Orochimaru shook his head. "That's not for me to decide. Whether or not you can learn senjutsu depends on the White Snake Sage of Ryūchi Cave. I can only act as an intermediary."

"Thank you, Orochimaru," Nagato said earnestly, knowing that even the chance of an introduction was a huge favor.

"Don't mention it. It's just a transaction, after all," Orochimaru replied with a smile.

In exchange, Orochimaru would receive two pairs of Mangekyō Sharingan after their victory over Konoha—a mutually beneficial agreement.

"Then I'll leave the matter of the cloning project to you, Orochimaru," Nagato continued.

"Understood, but I'll need the genetic samples as soon as possible," Orochimaru replied.

"Of course. I'll deliver them promptly and ensure you have all the equipment you need for the experiments," Nagato reassured him.

Orochimaru's smile widened, he much preferred the solitude of his laboratory to the chaos of the battlefield.

"Summoning Jutsu!"

With a puff of smoke, a white snake as thick as an arm appeared. Orochimaru handed the pre-written scroll to the snake and instructed it, "Deliver this to the White Snake Sage."

The snake grabbed the scroll and vanished in another puff of smoke, returning to Ryūchi Cave.

Turning back to Nagato and Hikaru, Orochimaru said, "Now we wait for the White Snake Sage's response."

"What kind of power does this Sage possess?" Hikaru asked with interest.

Orochimaru chuckled. "If the Sage agrees to train you, you'll see for yourself. You can even spar with the Sage if you're curious."

He couldn't hide his anticipation. The White Snake Sage was the strongest being he'd ever encountered, possessing boundless senjutsu power. Even the Nine-Tails paled in comparison.

Though Nagato's chakra reserves were monstrous by shinobi standards, they still couldn't measure up to the White Snake Sage's might.

Hikaru sneered. "Do you take me for a fool? Even a pig that's lived for thousands of years would become formidable, let alone a being with the title of Sage."

Orochimaru shrugged. "A shame—I was hoping for a good show."

Nagato intervened, "If the White Snake Sage agrees to help us, it would be invaluable."

"Don't count on it," Orochimaru said immediately. "The great Sages won't interfere in human conflicts unless the very survival of the shinobi world is at stake. Their neutrality is key to the summoning realms' balance."

"That's unfortunate," Nagato said with a sigh.

Moments later, Orochimaru summoned the same white snake again. After listening to its hissing reply, he turned to Nagato and Hikaru.

"The White Snake Sage has agreed. You're now authorized to contract with Ryūchi Cave, and senjutsu training will be provided."

"That easily?" Hikaru asked, surprised.

"Quite normal, actually. The White Snake Sage rarely rejects those seeking a contract," Orochimaru explained. "For the Sage, teaching senjutsu to contractors requires minimal effort."

"Oh? Please explain," Nagato requested, his expression serious.

"Ryūchi Cave's senjutsu is both the easiest to start and the most dangerous," Orochimaru said. "All it takes to begin is one bite from the White Snake Sage. If you survive, you pass. If not, well... it's up to luck."

Nagato frowned. "Directly infusing senjutsu chakra into someone unfamiliar with it must be incredibly dangerous."

"Of course. Mount Myōboku has Jiraiya as an exception, but Ryūchi Cave has almost no survivors. Other than me, all other contractors have died during the initial stage of senjutsu training," Orochimaru admitted.

"Well, someone has succeeded before, so it's possible," Hikaru said nonchalantly. "It's just senjutsu—I'm confident I have what it takes."

"Indeed," Orochimaru agreed with a grin. "As someone with the Rinnegan, failure would be unthinkable."

"I'm looking forward to this," Nagato said with a nod.

In a swirl of smoke, the trio vanished from Amegakure.

At the depths of Ryūchi Cave, a realm far removed from the shinobi world, the trio reappeared.

"Let's go," Orochimaru said, a sly smile on his face. "The White Snake Sage is expecting us."

Hikaru raised an eyebrow. "No trials or tests? In most stories, there's always some challenge before meeting the Sage."

"Normally, there would be," Orochimaru admitted. "But I already briefed the White Snake Sage on your abilities. None of the lesser snakes here could challenge you except the Sage itself."

"Thoughtful as always, Orochimaru," Nagato said approvingly.

The three walked through the dark, winding tunnels of the cave, surrounded by countless serpents. After ten minutes, they reached a dimly lit hall.
