Chapter 192: Chapter 192: The Imminent Revival of the Three-Tails
Fugaku took a moment to sense the new power coursing through him, then marveled, "So, this is the power of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan? It's utterly captivating—the sheer force contained within is terrifying!"
His Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan bore a unique pattern resembling a seven-pointed shuriken, though it was closer to jagged gears than a traditional throwing weapon.
"The ocular power and chakra in these eyes are overwhelming," Shisui remarked, awe evident in his voice. "If these weren't forged from clones of our original eyes, I fear I might have lost myself in this power."
Shisui's Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan displayed a four-pointed shuriken embedded within a circular frame, distinctly different from Fugaku's. Though both sets were created through the fusion of Mangekyō Sharingan, the differences in the originals led to unique final forms.
Fugaku's eyes were based on his Mangekyō Sharingan, while Shisui's retained the essence of his. As a result, the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan patterns were as distinct as their wielders.
"Take some time to acclimate," Akira advised, his tone serious. "The Three-Tails is set to revive any day now."
Fugaku nodded. "We'll need time to adjust to these powerful eyes. Have we pinpointed the location of the revival?"
"Two months ago, our intelligence team reported the exact site," Akira confirmed.
"Akira, are you planning to use the Three-Tails' revival to deal with the Akatsuki?" Shisui asked, concern flickering in his eyes.
Despite his aversion to war and his dream of achieving peace without violence, Shisui understood the perilous state of the world. The shinobi world teetered on the brink of chaos, and sometimes personal ideals had to yield to the greater good.
Kirigakure couldn't safeguard the Three-Tails, leaving Konohagakure to step in. Only by doing so could they ensure its protection.
"The Akatsuki will undoubtedly make a move. When that happens, a confrontation is inevitable. We'll do our best," Akira said with a nod.
Shisui's expression grew grim. The memory of Nagato's Rinnegan still haunted him, a constant shadow in his mind.
"Don't overthink it, Shisui," Akira said with a reassuring smile. "Your current strength is on par with Nagato's. A head-on fight isn't hopeless."
"What we need to focus on is ensuring they don't escape," Akira added with unwavering confidence. His assured demeanor eased Shisui's tension.
"Where will the Three-Tails revive?" Fugaku asked, less perturbed since he'd never faced Nagato directly.
"On a small island near the border of the Land of Fire and the Land of Water," Akira replied.
"Why don't I drive Kirigakure's forces off the island and use myself as bait to lure the Akatsuki there?" Fugaku suggested.
"There's no need," Akira shook his head. "I've already marked the location. With space-time ninjutsu, we can get there instantly."
Looking at both men, Akira continued, "For now, focus on mastering your eyes. The Three-Tails' revival isn't immediate. When the time comes, I'll take you there to guard it."
"Understood," they replied in unison.
...
Back at the Hokage's office
Akira was surprised to find both Tsunade and Jiraiya waiting for him.
It was rare for Akira to encounter them together. Tsunade was typically immersed in her work in the medical department, overseeing research. Jiraiya, meanwhile, split his time between writing and his role as an intelligence agent, often away from the village.
Interestingly, Jiraiya played a crucial role in discovering the Three-Tails' revival site. Mount Myōboku's infiltration capabilities had yielded invaluable intelligence, allowing Jiraiya to extract the location from Kirigakure.
"You two arriving together—what's the occasion?" Akira asked curiously.
"You're planning to target the Three-Tails, aren't you?" Tsunade asked bluntly.
"Jiraiya says its revival is imminent," she added.
Akira nodded. "That's correct."
There was no reason to hide it. While their political views might differ, both were staunch defenders of Konoha's interests.
"Take us with you!" Jiraiya said, his tone resolute.
Akira studied them for a moment before shaking his head. "It would be better if you and Tsunade stayed to protect the village. The Akatsuki, aside from Nagato and Uchiha Hikari, have gathered several rogue ninja. There's a chance they'll cause trouble in Konoha during this time."
Tsunade snorted disdainfully. "Do those rogue ninja have the nerve to challenge Konoha?"
After a year of recovery and rebuilding, Konoha's strength had rebounded significantly. Any rogue ninja foolish enough to attack would be signing their own death warrant. Only the likes of Hikari and Nagato, who could ignore sheer numbers, posed a real threat.
"We must ensure the safety of Konoha's citizens," Akira said firmly. "Our current priority is maintaining a secure and stable environment for the village to thrive."
Tsunade calmed down, realizing Akira's point. The ongoing economic development required peace and stability above all else.
"What a shame," she muttered under her breath. "I've just gotten the hang of Sage Mode and Mokuton. I was looking forward to testing it against the Rinnegan."
Hearing this, Jiraiya broke into a cold sweat, recalling their recent sparring session. Tsunade, unleashing her full power, had entered Sage Mode and controlled a Mokuton construct with monstrous strength. Her punches could rend the earth itself.
"There will be other opportunities," Akira reassured her with a smile. "For now, I'll leave the village's safety in your capable hands."
"Fine," Tsunade huffed, crossing her arms as she strode out of the office.
Jiraiya followed with a helpless smile, leaving Akira alone to prepare for the coming storm.
